    Checking out MaryBrowns

I had heard a lot about Mary Browns Chicken from friends and family in Atlantic Canada and Ontario. Well we decided to check out Mary Browns in Ottawa. The staff was really friendly and helpful in answering our questions. I order the Chicken sandwich combo with fried potato wedges with side order of fried pickles and coleslaw. Let me not forget the side of sauces that accompanied the meal. The chicken sandwich was tender crispy and juicy . I added some amazing coleslaw , Mary brown sauce and buffalo sauce to the sandwich. It was fantastic . The fried pickles were soft and greasy.. The potato wedges were ok - they could have been cooked a little longer to have that great crisp- the killer was they were very salty. I would say that Mary Brown's chicken sandwich is much better than Popeyes chicken because the chicken was thick, tender, crisp and juicy. The coleslaw added to the chicken sandwich pushed it to a new level. We will be back but next time I would request that the potato wedges be crispy and with no salt. The fried pickles be crispy. One final note that price is a few dollars higher then Popeyes and McDonalds but the quality of the chicken is well worth it.

Heard some people from the maritime raving about Mary Brown's, how it's even better than Chick-fil-a, so we decided to give this a try. Tried both classic Big Mary sandwich and also Buffalo Mary. They both tasted fine but in my opinion nowhere near as good as Chick-fil-a. Saw a promo on the wall that Big Mary is $3.99 on Monday's so that would be more worthwhile (regular $6.99). The venue was clean and staff was friendly.

Why is it every time you go in? You have to wait 15 to 20 minutes for your order, and dealing with a rude female cashier always

Love the spicy Mary with the spicy mayo. Decent sized portions. Taters are also pretty great. Definitely worth a try.

I would give 3.5 stars, but rounding up…read more Odi's Kingburger Drive-In is off Highway 60 in Renfrew and has been around since 1973. I had been wanting to try Kingburger for years, but every time we were in the area, we were always just passing by and had to get to where we were going on a specific schedule. This past weekend we had some time and stopped on the way home. My husband and I each got a King Cheeseburger and split a large poutine. The King Burger has two beef patties, triple bun, Kingburger sauce, and fried onions. The cheeseburger just adds cheese. The patties were real, homemade beef patties. They weren't too thick or dense and were juicy. The cheese was real cheese slices and not Kraft singles. The fried onions were good, not too many and not overwhelming. The Kingburger sauce seemed mostly like a mix of ketchup and mustard and there was far too much for me - I would've liked to taste the beef more because it was really great! I was also hoping to give more burger to our little kiddo without the sauce or just minimal. The buns were nothing special, but were fresh, soft, and helped soak up the sauce. In fairness, I like light sauce, whereas my husband likes everything super saucy and he really enjoyed it. All in all, it's definitely a good burger and I might try the Super Burger next time, which also comes with back bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and subs fried onions for raw. The poutine, unfortunately, did not the have cheese curds I was craving, but the gravy was very tasty and the fries were so perfectly crispy. As a big cheese lover, dare I say that I might just order fries and gravy next time. The portion was pretty big, too. Super affordable, weekday specials, and fast and friendly service. Love a small, local, family-owned restaurant that's been around for ages. There's a patio to the side and parking, but no indoor seating and truly a drive-thru with a drive-in theatre restaurant vibe. I'll need to try one of their many milkshakes next time. They also have a "cruise night" with classic cars, which would be awesome to check out.

The burgers are amazing, milkshakes are a tad filling though. Got a kids small cotton candy milkshake, didn't finish it. Although I put the milkshake in my freezer and had cotton candy ice cream. It slaps. Service is pretty awesome. Every time I see odi himself he's always smiling. The now sign is pretty nice and they actually show the cup sizes now and nice awards, ambiance nice. Considering it was a Sunday, I found that to be quite impressive and a testament to the restaurant. The food was piping hot. So hot I couldn't even bite into it for fear of burning my mouth! I took the time to enjoy the fries which were quite enjoyable - crunchy and tasty. Also, in comparison to other restaurants... the chicken pieces were HUGE! You're very much getting your money's worth in that regards. When it had finally cooled down enough to eat... it was good. It didn't live up to the hype I was given before going in, but it was definitely enjoyable. The fried covering was crunchy and very tasty without it being overly oily. The coleslaw was different than what I've tasted before but after an intriguing first few bites found myself happily digging in. The biscuits were perfect: harder shell with a wonderful hot and soft interior :) I look forward to another visit to compare against this first visit.

recently in the news it was revealed that many franchise owners were suing the Popeyes franchise…read morefor changing the method of butchering the chickens. They claim the chickens are no longer Halal method because the major arteries are no longer cut and the blood drained, which is required for being certified Halal. They claim most of their customers are Islams and they are losing them causing financial harm. The last time I was there the claim seemed to be true as I noticed the blood vessels in the dark meet were indeed full of blood and the taste had changed, not in a good way. I'm not saying it's not safe to eat as it is well cooked but I did notice the centre of the leg was all red and the taste was different from the outside. My solution: I bought an air fryer and some hot sauce. It's a shame as I loved their chicken before they changed. Mr. Wontbe Back
