I always dined at Popei's in Bethpage but I'm a Suffolk County gal now so Popei's in Coram is my new go to seafood restaurant! It's the same restaurant as far as menu selection, a garlic bread basket served to you after your seated and same HUGE portions but I like the Coram location better, lucky me!! It's a bigger restaurant with a big parking lot, really nice bar and lounge area, separate from the dining room! There is an outdoor patio with a Tiki Bar and live music regularly, such a really nice/relaxing atmosphere to be in! I was at Popei's last week with my daughter for dinner. We started with a mozzarella stick appetizer and they serve 4 which is really 8 to me because they are double the size of the standard mozzarella stick! Perfectly fried and really tasty! I ordered the fried shrimp platter that is served with 8 jumbo shrimp. The batter is delicious and served golden fried, It is NOT oily by any means and the shrimp was very fresh! My daughter ordered the shrimp scampi and her reaction was the same as mine! The scampi sauce was perfection! For dessert I ordered the Pistachio Gelato which was delicious with a swirl of chocolate throughout! My daughter ordered the lava cake which she consumed! Can't speak to the food here but had a ton of fun doing Name that Tune trivia with a few friends here. The bartender kept my Shirley temples flowing and added a ton of maraschino cherries to them. She was also super sweet and cheered all the teams on. You can tell that there were a bunch of regulars at the bar. When I lived in this area, I would frequent the dive bar scene and that's what this felt like. I had a ton of fun. read more

I'm confused and upset that they don't have that amazing Buffalo shrimp on the menu (this was my go to at the Sayville location almost weekly for a couple years when I worked nearby; it wasn't buffalo sauce, more tangy) That being said, I love popei's clan bar, always have since I was a little kid. Was craving some seafood near the hotel. Fried flounder, scallops, a couple of stuffies (stuffed clams), shrimp, and some clam strips w a salad and a beer. Very good and very fresh. Basically a nicely aged local joint that placed some great old 80s music. Has a bit of the nautical theme on the outside... def not a touristy place...but thats ok. 6-29-25. My first time here. Not sure if this place has anything to do with the other Popei's locations in Nassau County.......I would assume so because the menu is very similar. Came with my family and we ordered some lobster bisque, New England clam chowder, Long Island clam chowder (which is half Manhattan and half New England), some terryaki wings and a pot of steamed mussels to start. For entrees we had Popei's Italia which was linguini with shrimp, broccoli rabe, sweet red peppers and cannalini beans in a buttery garlic and oil sauce. Also ordered a fried flounder entree with mixed vegetables......in addition to a few broiled flounder dishes with mixed vegetables. Lastly, we ordered a side of linguini with white clam sauce and linguini with red clam sauce. I tasted everything and it was an overall great meal. The linguini in both white and red sauces were tasty and generous. Terryaki wings were decent, but nothing fantastic. Broiled flounder was light and flaky and could have had a tiny bit more flavor but it was still very good. Steamed mussels in marinara sauce was excellent and the Popei's Italia pasta dish was by far my favorite. Packed with a nice garlicky flavor and full of shrimp. The garlic bread they bring to the table provides an excellent vehicle for sopping up all that tasty broth. Our waitress could not have been more accommodating. Very attentive and she provided some suggestions and great service. Casual ambiance and a comfortable setting. Nice bar area. Live music on Sundays in the summer. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and craving some seafood. As an added bonus, it's less crowded and less expensive than a few other seafood options you have in the Port which is only a short distance away.......and as far as I'm concerned, the food was better here anyway. read more

Starving saw a Popei's Clam Bar love the Bethpage one so we stopped in huge mistake!! My friend's 2 lobster bisques were runny and gross no lobster pieces! I gave it a 1 because my New England clam chowder was ok needed more clam bits. We ordered a broiled seafood platter it came on a hot plate with the food laying in oil. The stuffing was disgusting mushy like dog food that I wouldn't give a dog!! There was a piece of stuffed flounder the flounder was old and stuck to plate. The mushroom was stuffed w mushy stuffing. The shrimps had no taste, the scallops were white no sear or broil to them. There was a stuffed shrimp (small size) which was on a ball of stuffing with the shrimp sitting on it. I was told you can't stuff a shrimp, my reply was yes you can if it was JUMBO. The kicker was the large clam shell filled with pureed stuffing couldn't get that down and this is a clam bar what a joke!! The broiled scallops were white as well with no sear, broil or flavor, veggies hard you couldn't even bite into the carrot! The best these cost $35 each. I had to explain what was wrong with food to 3 people. Next day stomach ache hope my friends are ok! Not sure what's going on in Suffolk County I will stay in Nassau County! read more

We go there at least 2x a week for a long time. AND. The food is NOT as good as it was!!! Very small portions. The linguini was hard as a rock and the garlic in garlic and oil was burned black. My wife and I came here for a dinner Last Tuesday and it was great! Wasabi seared scallops, Alaskan Snow Crab, and a Short Rib Dinner. My family & I came here a lot when I was a kid but I remember it being "meh"... I was a kid, I'm sure everything was meh unless it was chicken tenders and mac n cheese lol. The restaurant is divided into two sections: a bar area and a restaurant area. The restaurant area is bright and welcoming with a sea fearing atmosphere. My wife and I arrived shortly after three. Based on the early dinner crowd, it is best to make reservations for anything after five in the evening. Our waitress, Nancy, was friendly and welcoming. I ordered a bowl of lobster bisque and the mild, calamari marinara. The bowl of lobster bisque could have been a meal unto itself! The calamari marinara is made with a light sauce just as done in Naples - Italy. My wife enjoyed her clams aglio ed olio and the broiled seafood platter, however, there was so much on the plate we both only were able to have a quarter of what we ordered... well maybe, I had a bit more. I want to start by saying this used to be my spot. For many years when I lived in the area and when I came back to visit. The bartenders were always friendly, funny, awesome and just overall great, nice people. That being said, I was so happy when I walked in here on Thursday to find that they still had most of the same staff! I sat in the bar area waiting for a couple of friends. I had a glass of wine and I could not decide if I wanted clams or oysters on the half shell. Kelly suggested 6 of each! Perfect idea. First time visiting PCB on a sunny day for an early dinner with friends. We opted to sit on the back patio which was a great choice. The area looks like the beach might be on the other side of the enclosure...but of course its not. We snagged a nice 4 top with umbrella and had a wonderful server, her name was Sam and she took great care of us. We got a pitcher of red Sangria with the ice in the glasses not in the pitcher...that way it isnt diluted when poured. For appy we got an order and one half of their incredible Mussels in white garlicy sauce...Mussels were plump and sauce was most dippable with the garlic bread. Entrees were pretty good. We had 2 Shrimp and Calamari on pasta with Fra Diavalo sauce and 2 Broiled Seafood Combos. We had a wonderful time on the deck and will for sure be returning over the summer to try their many other offerings! read more

A lot of people love this place. I'm not one of them. It's okay, but doesn't really live up to the hype for me. I have not had a sit down type dinner here. I only had appetizers at the bar, but I think that's enough to get an idea. I was here last year and didn't remember if I liked the food. That's another indicator. So I had the stuffed clams. They were tasty, but I didn't think they were great. My friend loved them. She was drinking. I wasn't. I think that's the difference between who loves the place and who doesn't. Went for a party in January for the first time. Dining room has a nautical theme with giant sharks hanging from ceiling, one had a doll of Olive Oyl hanging from its jaw. I had the Manhattan clam chowder which was one of the best I've had. Everyone had the soups, lobster bisque, and French onion which could have been a tad hotter in temperature but were delicious. My daughter asked for hers to be hotter and was promptly given a new hot bowl of soup. Scallops were expertly cooked as was the combo platter. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. Someone got steak and lobster, cheeseburger, shrimp pasta dish. Service by Caila was terrific and they served our cake too. So good to know of a good seafood place in the area. read more

I haven't been to this Popei' in a few years. But the food and service is basically the same we were seated promptly and our waitress Sarah came over took our drink orders. When she came back we ordered our main meal that arrived promptly after a few minutes. I ordered the jumbo shrimp platter with cajun fries the shrimp was cooked perfectly not overly breaded like a few places that I've been to, wifey ordered the sea scallop platter and they will also cooked perfectly. I also ordered the Long Island clam chowder which is a mixture of New England and Manhattan, but from now on I think I would stick to either one or the other I didn't care for the Mixed. Sarah our waitress was excellent she made sure she explained everything on the menu and kept coming back to see if everything was good or whether we needed anything. PS. Driven past this place a thousand times, and it's my first time for dinner. Was in area meeting friend from out of town who comes here often for drinks. Nice size sports bar. I was impressed. Our server Sarah S. was fantastic. So attentive, so nice. And funny. Came to check to make sure everything was alright, did we need anything etc. But not up our butts annoying. Now for dessert. You MUST order dessert here. They are fantastic. And just like dinner, the portions are huge. The Holy Cannoli, totally worth the $12. It is more than enough dessert for 2, and nothing like a real cannoli. It's like a cannoli filled grilled cheese with yummy fried cinnamon sugar bread, whipped cream and fresh strawberries. It's a WOW dessert for sure. The sundaes are extremely generous, with lots of ice cream in very large bowl. The chocolate lava cake looked like a sundae because it had so many ice cream scoops around it (not complaining) and there's a diverse variety of ice cream shakes and smoothies. Can't believe it's taken me this long to try Popei's. Definitely will be back. Would love to come for an adult night and hang in the bar.
