The food was absolutely amazing! I ordered the Original Sayville Lobster Sandwich, and they were very generous with the fresh lobster. Even the pickle was delicious! The seasoned fries were so good, I didn't even need ketchup. The staff and other customers were all super friendly, which made the experience even better. It was about $30, and worth every penny. I loved the outdoor dining--it gave off total vacation vibes. Inside has that true seafood market aroma since they also sell a wide variety of fresh fish to cook at home. My sister and I have been wanting to come here for a while now. Claws is a fish market, and a small no frills seafood restaurant. We ordered and the lady gave us a buzzer. We sat outdoors and there were cute little ducks walking around. My sister got the lobster roll, there was a lot of lobster meat in it. I got the fried clams and enjoyed it, it was very filling. I had plenty of lobster rolls but this was one of the best! Simple but outstanding not to much to it. You know it was fresh because it took about 5-10 minutes to bring it to us and it was made perfectly. I had fries with it with obey on it and even the pickle was so good. I had the original which I shared the next time I need my own and I want to try the other kinds. I wish this was like that show on the food channel when you talk about the food and they bring it to you. We sat out side where they have a lot of tables to sit in the shed or not. Been to Claws pre-pandemic to have one of their lobster rolls and from what I remember, it was really effin' good. But for this review, I'll base it off of our seafood bake that we had for Christmas Eve, our Feast of the Seven fishes. When my mom told me she was planning on getting this for the festivities, I'm not going to lie, I was a tad bummed. We usually all brought a fish or two. This year, everyone was sick or had a tough time so it just made sense to grab this special. I went with my mom during the day to pick up our preordered bake and pickup was a breeze. This seafood bake had everything from mussels, clams and shrimp to crab legs, calamari and scallops. The crab legs were my favorite. This was a great order and made me want to cater from Claws in the future. Maybe one day I will. Here's to coming back more in the summer months for those delicious rolls. read more

If you are coming here to pick up fresh seafood and bring it home, everything is excellent. It's on the pricier side compared to other seafood stores but it's convenient if you live close by. The help and service are great. It's a cute little casual quick spot for a seafood meal out, if you don't want to cook. The food is disappointing. I ordered a Caesar salad with tuna. The tuna was excellent. The salad, terrible. A bit of lettuce thrown in a tin. It was not even cut up. Hush puppies were dry and no flavor. The plastic ware is a joke. A broke a fork and The crab roll my husband gave a 3/5. There is just no love in the food. Unfortunately, there is no handicap parking so it was very difficult to be able to get my husband out of the accessible van. Also no handicap toilette which is the law. Solid spot for a great sandwich or fish dish. We have went there a few times now and really enjoyed the quality of the seafood. The clam chowder has a nice creamy texture and is well stocked so it leaves you full even before your main dish. I've passed claws a number of times but was always hesitant based on the limited parking. The parking lot is big enough for about 6 cars, and although there is street parking, if the surrounding restaurants are busy it is quite a task finding a spot. However once your in the staff was very friendly and helpful. The little area they have nestled by the side of the water is very quaint. There was a small amount of seating in a fully covered and walled tent and then outdoor plastic picnic tables. As you sit outside you are surrounded in a nice little oasis of bamboo and other water side foliage with ducks walking around. The vibe here is very relaxed but fun. The food was great. We tried two different lobster rolls, clams on the half shell and some other things. The food was excellent. If you are in the area or want a cute little outdoor area to dine, Claws is a great place to try. read more

Took a ride out to Claws in West Sayville on Main Street. We have never been there before but heard great things about it!!! Everything we heard is true. We had some raw clams and oysters. So fresh and delicious. I had the double soft shell crab sandwich which was cooked perfectly also ordered the Big ol mess po boy which has a combination of fried cod,shrimp and clams I had a bite of that and it was also cooked perfectly. Cute little spot been meaning to try. My friend got the classic double roll with fries and I got the naked roll with coke slaw. The rolls are filled with plenty of delicious lobster meat and their slaw and fries were delicious. You probably can't beat this price anywhere on Long Island! Had a decent dinner here on a Sunday evening. This place has been on my radar for a few months. Finally had time to make it in today. I ordered New England clam chowder and the naked roll. The clam chowder was very good. Had very good flavor and was fresh. I scraped the bowl clean as it was better option than using my fingers. The naked roll was good and had a generous amount of lobster. It came with fries and a pickle spear. This is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5... The menu states there is a choice of coleslaw or fries. Didn't realize this until after, and the girl behind the counter didn't give the option. While the fries were tasty, I would have liked to be given the option. Furthermore... When it was time to pay I was told one price, but charged another price. When I questioned this I was told using a card cost more. While this is fine and the norm nowadays, I'm normally told prior. The girl behind the counter said it is posted, but it is covered by the "specials" sign. Well...the "specials" sign should be moved...especially if the workers aren't verbally telling customers that there is a small up-charge if using a card. That's poor customer service in my opinion. Every time we visit... Claws never disappoints. Since moving in six years ago they are our go to for fresh delicious seafood. From holiday needs to their clam bake and most recently a large fresh shrimp platter for my wife's 70th birthday celebration. The shrimp were huge and very fresh. Everyone at the party were amazed how good they were. By the way... their shrimp is chemical free. We recommend that you stop in for a quick lunch. I come here through out the year to the fish market mostly for , halibut , shrimp and cod . It is always delicious and fresh ,and all the workers are polite and professional! Today I came with a friend for lunch . It's been a few years since I've had one of their lobster rolls and my friend never had one before ! They have several tables set up with umbrellas and also a tented area with picnic tables . Place your order at the window and wait to be called , you may have to wait a bit if it's crowded . Today we waited about 20 mins . We ordered the naked lobster roll and the fried fish platter with shrimp , clams and cod . We asked for the melted butter on the side and we drizzled it on the lobster roll ourselves ... It was all soooooo delicious ! The price did go up a few bucks but it's worth it and it is about the same $$$ you would pay elsewhere. The lobster roll was nicely filled with sweet succulent lobster , only wish the roll was a bit more toasted but non the less yummy ! The fried fish platter was fresh and well prepared with a nice crispy tasty crust ! Both were served with fries and a pickle. They make their fries a bit spicy so be prepared , they are delicious ! Pains me to write this! I was last-minute craving a lobster roll. Made it to Claws at 6:40 on a Saturday night...they close at 7. I was excited that they let us order! The girl at the counter told me that the naked roll was just lobster and butter, which was exactly what I wanted. I anxiously awaited with anticipation of warm, melted butter and chunky lobster being dipped in it. But...alas, not to be. My roll arrived; no cup of butter, but it looked like maybe there was butter on top. Ok. We'll give it a go. A couple of bites in, I decided nope, no butter. Not a drop other than whatever was used on the positively delicious buttered, grilled roll. So, I went up to the counter and asked for some melted butter. Easy, right? No. Not easy. I was very matter of factly told that the "butter was off". Oh, that's sad, I said, to an emphatically unempathetic, but polite, young girl. I hung my head and crawled back to my table. So, obviously already disappointed, I did the best I good to find joy in the purely naked lobster. But without the butter, it was truly unmasked. It was pretty flavorless. It tasted like it had been frozen and defrosted, that little bit of sogginess that comes with that. I was so sad, and very disappointed. That mediocre lobster and the lack of attempts to get me some melted butter (hello, microwave some butter?) Makes me cross Claws off my list of go-to places. Their claims to having the best lobster roll on Long Island is simply not true. Thank gods for that delicious roll! At least there was that. read more

I've been here several times since my first review. I have had extremely good experiences as well as disappointing. Unfortunately after today's visit, I couldn't upgrade my review. The location and setting is lovely, the service is great, and their Covid procedures are with safety in mind. However, my food today was not great. I got a Naked lobster roll. It was bland and lacked so much flavor, the bun was not toasty buttery, and the clam strips were rubbery and bland as well. The last time I came here, it was the complete opposite: delicious, buttery, flavor, tender. So it seems to be hit or miss here. Good lobster! The lobster meat in my lobster roll was mostly claws and knuckles, not much tail which I prefer, but was fresh nonetheless. The hoagie roll was huge which served well as a vessel to contain the lobster meat but it might be a little pedestrian for all the good lobster. A slice of lettuce lined the bottom of each roll. Each box order came with fries which were tasty. Between the single and the double lobster roll, the double is the way to go for sure. Yes it is double the cost but I'm not sure I would have been fulfilled if I just went with the single. Service was quick and organized which isn't always the case these days. I've been going to claws for a couple years now and it's always been consistent. The prices have gone up but that's to be expected with inflation. They have a good selection of seafood you can order that's caught in the USA, these prices are higher than other seafood that's caught in India,Indonesia, Peru. So you're paying for quality. Being pregnant during a pandemic was not ideal but I'm so glad Claws stayed open so I could fulfill my craving for a fresh Long Island lobster roll. The roll is still the best I've had, better than some high priced ones out East. The fries are a perfect accompaniment and it'll transport you immediately to somewhere on a beach. Stopped in looking for some good seafood but we were a bit disappointed. The good news is they were open and have outdoor and semi-outdoor (covered) seating with a walk-up order and pickup window and COVID precautions were in place. It worked particularly well as we were there early and had the place to ourselves. My wife had the crispy broiled salmon which was well prepared and a good sized portion. I went with the fried seafood trio that was a bit too fried. It was edible but was a bit overdone - dark and too crunchy. July 4th and I have to work. Go figure, I'm a workaholic. I've had my Yelp eye on this place for a long time so today I decided I'll end work and eat here. First it's a seafood shack which I love and gets 1 Star no matter what. This is also a seafood market but seating is relegated to an outside patio. You place your order at a window, give your name, get a table and wait. Today they open at noon so we were first to order. I had the broiled diver scallops. Five scallops, fries and coleslaw. I also ordered a local craft beer. Once we ordered it was only a few minutes before I hear my named called. Scallops were on point. Fries were perfect and a wished it came with more coleslaw because it was excellent. After a minute or so I looked over at the order window and noticed the line of people going out to the parking lot. There's only a few parking spaces so people were parking on the street. I want to give 5 Stars but outdoor seating can be a hassle, parking is an issue, and bathrooms, well there's only one and it's outside. Get it? I will be back.
