I would order take out from here at least one a week food is amazing can't deny that and I would often stop at the store but on one particular day I spent over $300 for a dinner I was making it was an assortment of fresh seafood. I had asked for horseradish to go with the fresh oysters initially. after he ran my card and took the payment the 1st time i noticed I didn't get the horseradish so the employee looked at me and said $2.00 plus tax and credit card fee. I clearly didn't have cash just my debit card so he proceeded to then ring me up for the smallest container of horseradish and then taxed me again twice on the purchase ! In addition to that when he charged me for a everything he forgot to charge me for the oyster which I pointed out the amount didn't seem to add up it seemed to cheap so he checked and he realized he didn't so he then ran my card a 3rd time with both tax fees. I was beyond words I just spent well over $300 and you couldn't say it's okay no worries doesn't that usually come along with fresh oysters lemons and cocktail sauce.... I would come here all the time but after that experience I'm not even sure anymore. What a hidden gem! I stop here all the time to get my seafood fix. Their prices are very fair and the fish is always fresh. The atmosphere is homey, they have a few small tables if you want to dine in but I usually take my food to go. The staff is always very friendly and you always get served with a smile whenever coming in here. The menu is huge here. They have frozen fish, or hot plates, sandwiches, wraps, a very wide selection. Their lobster bisque is pure gold. I could eat that stuff everyday and never get sick of it. It is a very small place with only one table, so I purchased take out. I bought the shrimp scampi that had 9 large shrimps and linguine. It was really flavorful. I was only able to eat 1/2 of it the first night and finished the other 1/2 the next night and it reheated well. I I was given a sample of cold shrimp with dill that so amazing. Let me first describe Island Fish. It is a working class take-out fish place with a substantial menu and 4 tables for folks who want to eat in. It is not pretending to be a fancy restaurant. I went there today for the first time. I got the best fish and chips I have ever had. I rejected the offer of tarter sauce and got offered malt vinegar (which to my taste is a whole lot better). The batter was thin and crisp; the fries were big fat steak bore no oil. I brought home a scallop and bacon cake, something I have never heard of before. I'll eat it tomorrow. Island Fish has an inventive chef who also seems to be a practical businessman. So the seafood is pretty cheap. The lobsters bisque wad the best I ever had. But I tried the scallop cakes, shrimp cakes, patio And cheese croquet, and something else and it wad nothing special aty all. Maybe if they were made fresh. Worst seafood place ever. Not only was the place extremely pricy the food was absolutely horrible. Here's what we ordered: 1. A dozen of oysters - they were warm, we were scared that we were going to get food poisoning afterwards. I should have known not to order them when I asked them what kind of oysters they were and they didn't know even though they only sell seafood. 2. Fried calamari - worst calamari we have everrrrr tasted. It was bland and rubbery. I can't respect a seafood place that can't get a simple appetizer like this right. 3. OMG! This place is so AWESOME! I don't even know where to start in terms of telling how great of an experience I had at Island Fish. Firstly, the seafood for sale is SUPER FRESH. I found the price to be average and well worth it. I did not feel at all that it was over-priced. The variety of seafood that is offered is great. From crabs, shrimps, fish, and their amazing fresh lobster tails. I bought 2 bags of snow crabs, 2 bags of Brazil lobster tails, 2 bags of local small lobster tails, and 3 pounds of flounder. All so FRESH and DELICIOUS! And I'm saving the best part for last. The best part of my experience at Island Fish that has made me go back is the superior customer service and staff led by the amazing Jordan. Jordan is, in my book, the epitome of what a business owner/leader should be. He made my family and I feel like we were family there. And not in a cheesy, "Mangia, mangia..." kinda way, but in terms of making us feel so welcome. But, really, the best thing about Jordan is his honesty. While most employees, when asked for recommendations, usually suggest the more expensive options, Jordan gave the most honest recommendations regardless of price. And it ended up being very valuable because they were so delicious. I can't rave enough of how awesome Jordan is. I have to be honest. Some places in Suffolk County can make minority folks like me feel a bit self-conscious or unwelcome. But NOT here! Literally, it felt like home here. Got food from here twice. Pretty good! You would miss it going by if you werent looking for it. Parking lot is small, and they have a few tables to sit inside. The first time I ate there my salmon was supposed to by "in dill sauce" and I got it with a small dizzle over it. Now I just ask for extra sauce. The only other con is that it takes a while for the food to be made. When I called for take out, they told me 25-30 minutes, for two dishes, and when I got there @ 30 minutes, it still wasnt ready. Frozen bags of king and snow crab legs are $25, lobster tails from the Bahamas and Maine: In addition to the usual behind-the-counter offerings, there are some great, prepared foodstuffs and seafood salads, all made on-site. Check out the crabmeat-stuffed lobsters ($10), and foil-lined baked clams ($11 per dozen). The great thing about this place is you can order-up to stay, and eat it here, sitting at the checkerboard tableclothed dinettes, using plastic bowls and utensils, the way it should be. This place is clean. They have a flatscreen to distract you while your food is prepped, or else try the lobster bisque which exceeds expectations.
