I went there with my girlfriend to pick up clams. While we were checking out, the gentleman at the counter asked where I was from and then volunteered that they accept EBT, adding that if I knew anyone receiving EBT benefits, I should send them there. The comment caught me completely off guard, as it felt unnecessary and based on an assumption. It left me feeling uncomfortable, and because of that experience, I don't think I'll be returning. read more

I have been going to captree clam for a long time but since Marcus took over the place is amazing. They always had good fresh clams but now they have a large variety of seafood and a fresh seafood counter with a large variety of fresh fish, soft shell crabs, oysters and razor clams and much more. The place is clean no fishy smells. Pedro who waited on me said if you don't see it ask for it and he always has a smile on his face with a friendly and helpful disposition. read more

Clams, Crabs, Clams, Fish, Other Stuff And if I haven't mentioned CLAMS! First off I am officially claiming this family owned store my favorite small business of all time. I've loved it for over 15 years maybe longer. I've lost count. Buuuut with the new owner Marcus & his friendly knowledgeable staff (Hiiii Pedro!) it has improved immensely! Marcus's passion & dedication to the art of fishing & shellfishery shows. I come from a long line of clammers & eelers. My family does not give a BBQ without clams. We just don't. But Marcus (I can't say his name without hearing Eartha Kitt. If ya know, Ya know. Hahaha) has upped the ante with fresh shellfish & fish options also dry aged items as well. Today I was blessed with Jumbo Soft Shell Crabs! I was lazy & broiled them instead of grilling or frying them. They came out perfect! Called My Dad & he went back for some also. And the new hours!!! I can't say enough about the later hours & being open 7 days! Epic! The service is excellent and fast. The food is consistent, however, it is expensive. This is a great place to dock your boat and eat or have a drink. One very nice thing is they have a beach, it is a great place to bring young children on a nice day. Eat, drink and sit on a beach. Doesn't get much better. read more

Went into the storefront and wow was I amazed at the selection. We settled on Clams, shrimp, oysters, scallops. I have a huge family of over 50 people, and whenever we want the freshest seafood, this is our go to place. I first discovered them when a family member brought over oysters and scallops he had ordered from here. They were hands down the best I've ever had. They tasted like they'd been harvested that morning! They were plump, incredibly fresh, and super creamy. It was hard to believe they had been shipped. The owners themselves are active oyster farmers. They know fresh shellfish and get the highest quality REAL Blue Point Oysters. They also get a great variety of oysters shipped in daily. If you are an oyster lover, Captree Clam is the place! Ask them what they have that day. They might have Blue Point or Peconic oysters right off the boat, or beautiful west coast oysters or even premium oysters shipped direct from the cold waters of Maine or PEI. Captree Clam is where Baymen and Oyster farmers go to sell fresh clams and oysters right out of the sea. If you go there, there is a pretty good chance you will see fresh clams and fresh oysters being delivered right from the boat dock to the Captree Clam loading dock. Oh and they will shuck clams and oysters for you to go! They have a range of fresh seafood from shellfish, to live lobsters, live crabs, and even portioned restaurant quality frozen fish. This is a great place to go to source fresh shellfish and seafood weather you are a restaurant, raw bar or retail customer. The environment is professional and customer friendly, Dont be afraid to ask one of the professional crew. Chances are if they dont have it, they can get it! You can find anything from a single piece of fresh fish for the grill, or stock up for a giant Holiday seafood extravaganza, or backyard clam bake! Oh yea, ask them about catering! For the last few years, I had been purchasing my seafood from local grocery stores with (fresh?) fish departments. Big mistake, huge! Recently, I searched for fish markets on Yelp and came across Captree Clam. I decided to give them a try and am elated that I did. As soon as I stepped inside their retail section, not only could I see the difference, i could also smell the freshness of the fish. My Dad, a local surf fishing legend, God rest his soul, taught me that fresh fish never smell fishy, they smell fresh like the sea. This is how I was greeted by this market, fresh and spotlessly clean. The gentleman at the counter was extremely helpful, and made suggestions that made [erfect sense. Thank you, for your expert and friendly guidance! Since I intend to prepare "Frutti di Mare" again this year, I wanted everything to be perfect. I purchased Fresh Cod Filets, {(4-6) Colossal Shrimp, Calamari(frozen), Fresh Fluke, Frozen Bay Scallops, and Crabmeat, and Frozen Blue Claw Crabs I will pick up fresh clams and mussels sometime this week. i cooked up a piece of the cod, and it was amazing. This place is amazing!!! They have all kinds of seafood for a good price! They have frozen scallops, lobster, crab, crawfish, king crab legs, shrimp and more! They have fresh clams, mussels, oysters, lobster, scallops, fish, blue crabs, and small geoduck. It doesn't smell bad inside, which is always a good sign. I just got 6 frozen blue crabs for $15.40! For the last couple of years, it's been my one-stop shop for all things fresh seafood, and I couldn't be more grateful that it's just off Sunrise Highway, making it super easy to grab what you need. No hassle, just great seafood. Jim, Pedro, Marcus, and the rest of the crew are always on point--whether they're schooling you on the best catch of the day or serving you with that classic Long Island bay-man handshake. You'll feel like family every time you visit. Since the new management took over, the place has only gotten better. There's a wider variety of options now, and it's all top-tier stuff. My personal favorite ritual is grabbing a couple dozen oysters, clams, and scallops for a mini seafood feast when friends from Australia are in town. They always flip out at how much better the seafood here is than what they get back home. And if you haven't tried the Peconic Tonics, you're missing the crown jewel. Grown just a few miles away in Great Peconic Bay, these oysters are the freshest, most flavorful you'll find anywhere. Oh, and don't forget to snag some mussels, blue crabs, and lobster tails while you're at it--they're all incredible. Captree Clam is an easy 10/10 in my book. Can't recommend it enough! read more

Although goog maps kept telling me of the approaching business, I proceeded to drive right past it as the single level brick storefront didn't jump out at me and say "Seafood market, here I am!" Upon entering there is one room, I'll call it 8x25, the first reach in cooler contains frozen fillet fish, and some other fish products that I did not pay close attention to. Due in no small part to my pre conceived notion of clams, clams and more clams. The fine gentleman at the counter really gave me an education as to why my recent lobster shopping experience has gone so poorly. Furthermore, he showed me the lobster tail options available, where specifically they were from, when they were caught, so I bought three. As to the clam options, there was a little picture on the wall with the shell and the particular name and this stood out to me as a great way for people to know exactly what they're buying. In all, I took a dozen of each ($5.95) and two dozen mussels ($2.95). Today the menu has been written and we are an hour from the start of the best clam experience I've had in over two years. read more

He requested I come back down to rectify my past issues with scallops. But unfortunately I can't take that chance again.
