Full confession, I am not from the South. A co-worker told me about livermush, and not being one to pass up a new food opportunity, I Yelped the nearest restaurant with it on the menu. I still can't believe how wonderful my breakfast experience was! Pop's Cafe is unassuming and tucked away in a small strip mall in a neighborhood off a busy street. The exterior signage and lighting is so dim, I wasn't sure if they were open...but they were! Despite my nervousness over trying something new (especially with liver in the name), the waitress was immediately welcoming and comforting saying I could sit anywhere. She was very attentive and when I ordered grits, she asked if I wanted cheese with it and suggested getting in with a slice of American. The food came out quickly. I'd ordered the Porky's Platter and should've gotten the hint, it was enormous! The livermush was pretty good! It had a texture somewhere between spam and vienna sausage, but was fried crisp making it difficult to stop eating. The grits (with American cheese) were really yummy and the sausage biscuits were some of the best! I had to get a to-go box as the livermush was super rich and the servings were so large. This place is like the ones you only hear or read about in stories and I can't wait to go back if I am ever in the area again!

I love this place! The food is amazing! My favorite is the owner she is just so sweet. The breakfast is like my grandma made it.

Our waitress, Brandi (Brandice), was phenomenal -- knowledgeable, informative, respectful, and genuinely happy to be there. Her energy made the entire experience even better. The restaurant itself is deeply rooted in history as part of the Friendship Nine sit‑in location, and you can feel that significance the moment you walk in. It adds a meaningful layer to an already great dining experience. The bathroom was spotless, the prices were very reasonable, and everything from start to finish felt intentional and well cared for. Highly recommend Kounter for anyone looking for great food, great service, and a place that honors an important piece of Rock Hill's history.

On the menu for today I chose the Blue plate Special ($23) OG, bacon wrapped meatloaf, swirl potatoes, veggie du jour, stewed, collards, steakhouse, vinaigrette, cilantro Crema. The dish was Tender medallions of meatloaf, wrapped in savory bacon. Topped with a steakhouse vinaigrette, tangy, and savory, which had an amazing flavor by itself, I just wish it added more to the main. Which was slightly bland. Unfortunately, this cilantro Crema had no hints of cilantro. The actual star of the show is the collard greens. The Collard greens has a subtle kick, which is amazing and flavorful, and gives that little extra punch. Hand slammed fries ($5) Parmesan - rosemary dusted, roasted tomato malt vinaigrette. Tasty especially with their house made ketchup, but unfortunately, the fries were a little on the soggy side. And a Blake's cider (5). crisp and refreshing. Perfect for a southern Carolina afternoon. Overall, food was delicious, but could use just a hint of attentions to flavor. I would definitely recommend you give Kounter a try. I would love to come back here again and try some more of their menu. Follow me on Yelp and Instagram @noodlesoupr as I travel the world in search of delicious food encounters.

Ashley was our server and she was amazing -- very attentive, friendly, and gave great recommendations. She really made the experience even better. We started with the pork belly skewers topped with ranch, BBQ, crushed cashews, and pickled red onions -- 10/10. Huge portion and packed with flavor. The balance of sweet, tangy, and crunchy was perfect. The chicken Caesar sandwich was sooo good. It's a massive sandwich with a crispy chicken cutlet topped with Caesar salad, pickled red onions, and chickpeas. Fair warning: it's a little hard to eat because of the size, but completely worth it. The dressing leans more vinegar-forward than creamy, which I personally loved. I'd honestly order it again just as a salad. The truffle parm fries were another 10/10 -- loaded with parmesan and full of flavor. The stout braised beef melt was amazing. Tons of meat and the flavors blended together perfectly. Definitely a standout. The pub chips with added Cajun seasoning were okay -- not bad, just nothing super special compared to everything else. As longtime fans of their previous food truck, we're so impressed with what they've grown into as a restaurant. It's clear they've kept the quality while elevating the whole experience. We'll absolutely be back!

I am usually surprised at how easy it is to get a seat. It's a big space which helps but the food is so good. I always anticipate having to wait. Unless there is a sporting event next-door, I can usually find a place at the bar or get a table. If you sit at the bar, hope Mariah is there. She makes a good cocktail and she's incredibly sweet. Food is consistent and very good. Their smoked wings must be the best in town get the lemon pepper rub in the house made blue cheese dip. You won't regret it. The blackened chicken Caesar salad is also a huge hit. I highly recommend this place. Enjoy!

We were a little confused as to how to enter the restaurant, but I chalk that up to being tired. The space is wide open and airy, with large windows and skylights. The restaurant was nice and clean, save for something that was splashed on the wall in our booth - but it's a restaurant. There's going to be little picky things here and there and I'm sure it was wiped down by the end of the day! Our hostess was also our server and she was so knowledgeable about the menu. I took her suggestions at every turn and did not regret it. We started off with the Bang Bang Brussels Sprouts app and let me tell you - I could've eaten that as my entire meal. They are SO delicious and I'll be dreaming of them until I can return to Rock Hill. Holy cow, they were good - crispy on the outside, loaded with flavor and just enough spice to give the sweetness a little bite. So good. My husband had the country fried steak and he said it was very good. Not the best he's ever had, he said, but good enough. He wished there'd been more steak and less crust, but the flavor was right on. They were out of the salt and pepper flounder, so I changed my order to the ranch chicken. Ummmm....excuse me. Who says not to order chicken breasts at restaurants? The portion size is SO generous and the chicken is SO DELICIOUS that I, the girl who rarely bothers to take leftovers, boxed up what was left and brought it back to my hotel and ate it as a midnight snack. The grilled zucchini served on the side of it was delicious. If I ever get back, I'll ask if I can skip the potatoes in favor of more of that zucchini! We didn't really have room for dessert, but when we heard about the warm banana pudding, we were curious. DO NOT SKIP THIS DESSERT. If you're a banana pudding fan, this will blow your mind. Absolutely incredible! It's both warm and cool at the same time, caramelized bananas and a torched meringue topping were bowl-licking delicious. All in all, this was a fantastic experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Bartenders were really entertaining and I actually preferred it. We've had dinner there before and opted not to move to a table. Prime rib - Friday night special. AMAZING. 8 oz portion rare was juicy and so flavorful. Crust was peppery and delicious, perfect with savory heat from the horseradish cream. Mac and cheese was super creamy and just the right amount of pepper, made with shells, cheese pull galore. The collards were on point and packed with chunks of pork. The tri tip was sliced thin and stayed juicy but that chimichurri was the showstopper. It was fresh and spicy and totally made the dish! Beans were too smoky for me, hubby said they were good. Potato salad was solid but not sure any potato dish could top that Mac! Sparkling rose was just a teensy bit sweet, very refreshing and divine. Bartender said it's one of the best wines on their list. Hubby had Tito's and cranberry, also excellent. They have a good draft selection too. No oysters for us on this trip, but they did have a list and the raw bar was fully seated and enjoying them. We totally enjoyed oysters last time. Longer table down the middle would make it easy for large parties and they did have several large groups in as well. Overall it was a pretty energetic vibe with a fun but casual ambience. Dress it up if you like, but jeans are also okay. Games were on the three TVs at the bar, or maybe there were 4 TVs. Bartenders were fun to hang out with and provided all the menu recommendations and entertainment we could want.

We had the opportunity to eat at Bear Walrus in person and it was the best bbq I'd ever had. I always try the turkey at every bbq place as sort of a litmus test. If the turkey is tender & juicy, it usually means they know what they're doing. That first time I wished I had more hands to give more thumbs up. Fast forward to last month. We ordered food to go. I got the turkey again and it was inedible. In the trash it went. The sides were still delicious. The greens and the Mac n cheese were so good. I figured maybe they had a bad night. This evening, once again, ordered the turkey and wow, it was wayyyyy over-peppered, completely dry, basically it was cardboard. Horrible. So decided to write this review in hopes they will reverse course.
