Elk Ave Tavern Bar!!
Dr. Scott C.

My best friend and I came here after outdoor activities to grab some libations and it did not disappoint!! Very cool laid back atmosphere here at Elk Ave Tavern this is definitely a locals spot. We came in and posted up at the bar and immediately the hostess gave us Menus food and cocktails, plus we were greeted by the bartender as well so the customer service is on point!! My buddy and I immediately stared at the Glowing Wall of Libations in front of us and selected our Bourbon !! Great selection of Bourbon and Whiskey here at Elk Ave Tavern!! We stepped our game up the second round and got the Eagle Rare 10 years, oh so smooth and yummy!! Love it here everyone is super nice Easy 5 Stars !!

Would love to call but they don't have a number. I have ordered the hot honey pepperoni pizza multiple times and it has been the same everytime except today. It looked differed and tasted different. Usually they use the little pepperoni. Very disappointed.

My husband and I visited Elk Ave Tavern Saturday evening. We had been warned there would be a wait, and there was -- but the hostess offered two seats at the bar so we decided to take them. We don't normally sit at bars but it was a really fun experience! The vibe was friendly, and there was a lot of camaraderie among the staff and patrons. I got a glass of Pinot Noir and the Wedge salad with shrimp added. The shrimp was perfectly spicy and juicy and the salad had just the right amount of creamy dressing and crunch. It was delicious. My husband got a Sierra Nevada on draft and had the Ruben. It was full of meat and he loved it. The staff was attentive but not pushy or in our business. We were too full for dessert but I got a coffee with Bailey's and whipped cream that was so yummy!

Absolutely amazing. There is a reason this place usually has a 45+ minute wait at dinner time. Parking - there is street parking (not a lot), a community lot next door, and a good sized parking garage just a short walk away. You walk in and are immediately greeted at the host station. You can almost always bet there will be a wait. They take your number and text you to confirm you are on the list and text again when your table is ready. Stay close by as you have 5 minutes after the ready text to check in. This is not a big place, thus the wait times. It's quaint. Not too loud. Building must have an interesting history to it. Food: Cauliflower App - a must. It is excellent. Brussels Sprouts - arguably the best I have ever had. Cheesesteak - this is the best cheesesteak in the Charlotte area bar none. Chicken Sandwich - just like they were famous for when they ran the Cibi Cibi food truck. Highly recommend!!

Delicious! We had their fried pickles as our appetizer. My son had the Buffalo chicken sandwich which he loved. Finally their Caesar Chicken Sandwich was so good! Great idea for a sandwich!

If you like a good pub this place is idyllic! Great atmosphere with lots of holiday decor. The staff are courteous and efficient. I started with french onion soup and the manhattan. Yum! The soup was delicious. They did put crispy onions on top which was different. Not a big fan of that. The soup, however, was not too salty and perfectly baked so the cheese was nicely melted. The manhattan was well balanced and had a holiday twist to it which I liked. My husband got the philly and he loved it. Lots of meat served with homemade chips! I also got the brussels which I thoroughly enjoyed but I will say they were slightly salty. If we find ourselves in this area again, we will definitely be back to this place.

Cheese steak and Cajun fries - Sooo good!

Worth the hype. Loved the pub vibe. Great drinks -I tried the Manhattan. Great service. I had the cheese steak with Cajun fries and it was so good! No phone number. No reservations. Worth the wait (25 mins on a Wednesday).

These are the guys that owned the food truck, Cibi Cibi. They've had this location for about a year. It's located downtown adjacent to a large public parking lot. The food truck no longer operates at Slow Play Brewing. I got there @ 1130a right when it opened & it was full by the time I left about 40 min later. I had the shrimp quesadillas, it had maybe 2 shrimps, it was packed with jalapeño pepper jelly sauce that had my eyes watering. I got two orders to go as well. One was the hot chicken sando, medium hot. It was my 'go to' when they had the food truck. They also had a special, turkey melt with bacon which I ordered as well. I sat at the bar & had good service from a young man named Hunter. Sadly they don't have a web site so you can't see the menu or order on-line. It's in an old building, not much ambience and very dark inside.

Sat at the bar and Liz took care of getting me a beer, ordered the Cheesesteak with slaw and overall it was good. Standard bar food, a bit pricy ($18 for a cheesesteak) but it filled me up.

I recently visited Elk Tavern and had mixed feelings about the experience. The absolute highlight was the food -- hands down some of the best I've had in a while. Every dish was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. If you're coming for a meal, you won't be disappointed. The signature drinks, however, were just okay. They weren't bad by any means, but nothing stood out enough to make me want to order a second round or recommend them to friends. Unfortunately, what really brought the experience down was the service at the bar. The bartender seemed disinterested and inattentive, which made the whole atmosphere feel a bit off. A place with food this good deserves service that matches its quality -- hopefully management takes note, because with better bar service, Elk Tavern could easily be a five-star spot.

We were seated right away for lunch. The place is cute inside, definitely darker tavern feel (per the name). Our server was super personable and friendly, he obviously knew the food & drink menu very well and had suggestions. You can hear everyone's conversations around you, which was a little distracting but whatever, I'm here for the food. We ordered the chicken sandwich with jalapeño slaw & lamb burger with fries. The chicken sandwich is huge and with the sauces, it's an entire napkin per bite situation. Not a problem there. The chicken was incredibly juicy! Loved that. What I didn't love was a good amount of the skin under the crunchy part was still gelatinous. So you're getting juicy chicken, flappy skin and then crispiness on the outside. A bit unappetizing. The lamb burger was meh but honestly I would never order that so I'm blaming the orderer on that one lol. I recommend trying this place still. I'm assuming my chicken just wasn't prepared correctly on this particular day. Might be back, might not.

Chicken Parm Dinner w/ braised rib sandwich photo bombing the parm!

When you are in Rock Hill don't even consider other restaurants! This place is 100% LEGIT! We've been here several times and we've never had a bad meal. Tonight we order the chicken parm dinner which was absolutely amazing and by far then best we've had within 100 miles of Charlotte. We also order braised rib sandwich which again was absolutely incredible. The portions are very generous and all the food is served warm. I don't think we'll ever eat at another restaurant when we are in the area because this place is so good. Be prepared to wait but it's well worth it. To finish off our dinner we had the bourbon apple crisp topped with vanilla ice cream, which again was absolutely spot on. I'd expect to pay $100 + for this meal but with drinks it came to just over $60 which is the best bargain in all of SC.

Based on the popularity and high ratings for this place, we came early for lunch...and there was already a line outside! The place was quite small and quaint, but had a really nice ambiance...an authentic tavern vibe. They really did a great job decorating the place. Nice music overhead, great A/C, and all that as well. The service was great as well...fast and friendly. Unfortunately, the thing that disappointed me right off the bat was how their lunch menu was so skimpy...and they didn't offer the flatbread pizza, THE thing I came for! We had to resort to the few choices on the menu...my husband got the Cheesesteak with Brussels Sprouts, and I got the Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich with Brussels Sprouts. Well...frankly, I just didn't love it. First of all, the buns were cold!! Huh?!? I can't believe they couldn't take a few seconds to at least microwave the cold buns. The Chicken was thick and crispy, but the toppings (lotsa pickles and radish) were totally sloppy and just didn't make for a great-tasting sando...at least for me. Brussels Sprouts were good, but I wished they were crispier. My husband felt the same...the Cheesesteak wasn't anything to write home about. Just like my Chicken sando, it looked totally sloppy and greasy...and underwhelming. Sadly, we just felt that these sloppy-looking dishes didn't match the price points. If the popularity of this place is based on these hand-helds, I'm totally confused. I know that many customers might have been Cibi Cibi fans...but based on what we ate today, we left scratching our heads. If they had the flatbreads, which actually looked quite good (not sloppy like their hand-helds!), this review might have been altogether different. Just didn't get why they couldn't add the flatbreads to their super-skimpy lunch menu. We were told they only serve flatbread pizzas on Fridays? WHY?? Maybe we'll try them at least once more...if only to try the flatbread pizza. As much as I liked the vibe here, it's a shame that the foods managed to disappoint. Hopefully I can upgrade the review...should I be able to try that flatbread pizza, and it's better than their sandos??

We were a little confused as to how to enter the restaurant, but I chalk that up to being tired. The space is wide open and airy, with large windows and skylights. The restaurant was nice and clean, save for something that was splashed on the wall in our booth - but it's a restaurant. There's going to be little picky things here and there and I'm sure it was wiped down by the end of the day! Our hostess was also our server and she was so knowledgeable about the menu. I took her suggestions at every turn and did not regret it. We started off with the Bang Bang Brussels Sprouts app and let me tell you - I could've eaten that as my entire meal. They are SO delicious and I'll be dreaming of them until I can return to Rock Hill. Holy cow, they were good - crispy on the outside, loaded with flavor and just enough spice to give the sweetness a little bite. So good. My husband had the country fried steak and he said it was very good. Not the best he's ever had, he said, but good enough. He wished there'd been more steak and less crust, but the flavor was right on. They were out of the salt and pepper flounder, so I changed my order to the ranch chicken. Ummmm....excuse me. Who says not to order chicken breasts at restaurants? The portion size is SO generous and the chicken is SO DELICIOUS that I, the girl who rarely bothers to take leftovers, boxed up what was left and brought it back to my hotel and ate it as a midnight snack. The grilled zucchini served on the side of it was delicious. If I ever get back, I'll ask if I can skip the potatoes in favor of more of that zucchini! We didn't really have room for dessert, but when we heard about the warm banana pudding, we were curious. DO NOT SKIP THIS DESSERT. If you're a banana pudding fan, this will blow your mind. Absolutely incredible! It's both warm and cool at the same time, caramelized bananas and a torched meringue topping were bowl-licking delicious. All in all, this was a fantastic experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We started things off with the Louisiana Shrimp Toast and the Bang Bang Brussels Sprouts--both packed with so much flavor and the perfect way to kick off dinner. We also had to take advantage of their $2 frosé, which was absolutely perfect for these warmer days. For my entrée, I went with the Parmesan Ranch Chicken served with the most perfect mashed potatoes--comfort food at its finest. My husband ordered the Salt and Pepper Fried Tilapia with grits, topped with the most delicious tomato stew that had us both sneaking bites from each other's plates. Everything was absolutely delicious, and we already know we'll be back... because I still need a slice of that peach cheesecake! If you're in Rock Hill and looking for your next dinner spot, this one is definitely worth the visit!

It was a little dark though it was more quiet than the sunlit front. I ordered the Old Town Cobb and my husband ordered the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf and a Caesar salad. The focaccia croutons in the salad were out of this world delicious and different. Their flavor of the croutons burst in our mouth. The meatloaf's presentation was superb. Hubby said he would order meatloaf again. I had a bite and it was crispy and smoky tasting. My husband ordered 2 beers and the bill was under $50 which we thought was a good value. Pros: water served in glass tumblers. Menu is very creative. Food is really delicious. Location. Plenty of other spots to grab a coffee, tea or hot chocolate while walking around Main Street after eating. Cons: tomatoes under ripe in Cobb salad. Caesar salad dressing was more sweet than anticipated. Depending when you come, parking will be challenging if a person is unable to walk. Parking is generally plentiful around downtown Rock Hill within a short walk. Verdict: Both dishes were good. Would come back and would order them again.

On the menu for today I chose the Blue plate Special ($23) OG, bacon wrapped meatloaf, swirl potatoes, veggie du jour, stewed, collards, steakhouse, vinaigrette, cilantro Crema. The dish was Tender medallions of meatloaf, wrapped in savory bacon. Topped with a steakhouse vinaigrette, tangy, and savory, which had an amazing flavor by itself, I just wish it added more to the main. Which was slightly bland. Unfortunately, this cilantro Crema had no hints of cilantro. The actual star of the show is the collard greens. The Collard greens has a subtle kick, which is amazing and flavorful, and gives that little extra punch. Hand slammed fries ($5) Parmesan - rosemary dusted, roasted tomato malt vinaigrette. Tasty especially with their house made ketchup, but unfortunately, the fries were a little on the soggy side. And a Blake's cider (5). crisp and refreshing. Perfect for a southern Carolina afternoon. Overall, food was delicious, but could use just a hint of attentions to flavor. I would definitely recommend you give Kounter a try. I would love to come back here again and try some more of their menu. Follow me on Yelp and Instagram @noodlesoupr as I travel the world in search of delicious food encounters.

But a few of us expected okra flavor only to be disappointed. Temp on the fried green tomatoes should have been warmer but overall it was very tasty. Our appetizer empty plates sat for a while - we even stacked them so it was clear they should be cleared. Ordered the salmon, which was good, but so did my mom. We ordered different temps and they couldn't tell which was which. Wife ordered a salad and for the price, there was barely anything there. Mac and cheese is still the star. Oysters were decent - I expected larger. The half chicken was a generous portion - nice crispy outside but a bit dry inside. I wouldn't order it (I almost did, but my one of our party did). One of our party ordered a stuffed leeks and it was so salty it was inedible. They did fix it and admitted it should have never left the kitchen. By the time the replacement came out it was after 6:05 (and they had to leave at 6:15). So they didn't get to eat their celebratory meal with the rest of us. Not the memory you want for a meal. Desserts were good. Tort was dense - honestly not sure if that's normal. Crème brûlée was very good. For a $400+ experience and our history with Pump House, I expected more.
