I came to the city for work, and because I LOVE Italian ice I couldn't pass it up! The first night I tried, the lady said they were closing but it wasn't closing time. I came back the next day. And made it. It's a fun looking place, they have a lot of the snacks you see on TikTok. (See pictures). They don't have a lot of flavors for Italian ice. So I went with my go to tigers blood, but it wasn't full of flavor like I thought it would be for a sweet drink. I did of course buy some of the snacks. The skittles were so good! The Oreos tasted old. Something that rubbed me the wrong way, when I put my items on the counter the cashier told me the price of the Oreos. I said okay, and then she repeated the price and was like "is that okay?" They're like $8, so I understand why someone would change their mind.....but, I wasn't going to. I would've asked the price FIRST! -- It was just the way she asked.

Neat little spot to enjoy a cold treat and several other unique options. The Italian ice cream is not overly sweet which was enjoyable. Also got to try some free samples of other flavors which I really enjoyed. Will definitely stop by another time when I am in the area!

Once in a while I get this craving for good ol' Italian coffee. Fortunately I just found out about POP-POPS here in Albuquerque. I had two shots of Italian expresso coffee. It was great!! But POP-POPS' main attraction seems to be Italian Ice. Definitely next time, for sure. POP-POPS is open from 12 noon. On San Mateo and Academy.

Last time I had pop pops was when it was still a store, I must have been 8 or 9. I always thought of it as a fond experience of my childhood and have not forgot it 10 years later. Thought they closed down forever, but saw the truck when I was passing by a park. I had to stop by with my friend who never had pop pops before. We both enjoyed what we got, unfortunately because it's a truck now there were less flavors than before. The worker was nice and we could get different flavors in one cup. Definitely made me reminisce about the good old times.

Incidentally ran into this Italian ice truck while grabbing a bite at a food truck. I ordered the mango flavor which paired very well with the burgee and fries I ordered next door. I'm not an expert on the topic of Italian ice but the customer service was on par with the high quality of their product. Even on a chilly night, this was a pleasant experience. I can't wait to try these out on a warm sunny day.

I must say, it was significantly better to my taste The pickles were gone, but there was still this unusual taste that I really couldn't place. It tasted almost like pickles in the background, but I'm not sure what it was. Suffice to say, the burger was very good. Was it the best burger I've ever had? No. Sadly, that honor goes to Pete's Frites, and he hung it up after ruining all of us who got to try his burger masterpieces before disappearing. But I digress. No Mames treated me like I mattered. They took my opinions and wishes seriously. I am very impressed. The owner and his wife genuinely wanted me to enjoy my experience with their food, and I must say I did. Their tireless efforts to make me a happy customer are very rare, and they should be commended. I had fries this time, and they are the thin, more crispy variety, which are my favorite. I also received a Serrano sauce and a flavored oil "sauce," which I was told they serve with their chicharrones, I believe. I kinda liked it with the fries. I'm upping the rating to 5 stars, because for me, the food is a very strong 4 stars, but their customer service and care for their craft makes it an easy 5 stars. Go pay this place a visit and let them know what you think of their food. They actually listen and will make adjustments. That's a customer's dream.

I personally found that the price/value for the amount and quality of food Nomad's bbq provides is well worth it. I had a pulled pork sandwich (plus a bit of brisket and the 2 sides that I couldn't resist trying to save for my next meal) and thought the meat was smokey, jiving and so scrumptious...and this is coming from someone who normally doesn't eat so much meat like myself! Overall, I really like that Theo seems passionate about making the food that he serves. Plus, it doesn't hurt that this bbq type of food tastes so good..and is so rare to find ABQ, too.

I'm so glad I did. I came near closing, but service was still awesome. The lady behind the counter was super patient with me as I scanned the menu and tried to figure out what I wanted to order. I was dinner so I opted for a Birria burrito, then added on a Birria taco and a carne asada taco. There were two people ahead of me so my food was a little slow to come but I tell ya: it was worth the wait. My picture doesn't really do this justice. The burrito is fucking huge. One of the biggest I've ever had. I wish I knew how big it was ahead of time, cause I would not have ordered the tacos. Or maybe I would have cause the tacos were chonky and so damned good too. Going back to the birria burrito.. wow. It was packed full of birria with some rice and beans. The ratio is AMAZING for us meat lovers. I could only stomach half the burrito, plus the two tacos. Was able to save the other half for lunch tomorrow. Still super duper tasty. The birria was very very juicy and tender flavorful. Lord, mouth is watering just thinking about it. The other amazing part? The PRICE. That giant birria burrito was $11.99. I defy you to find a place with a better price to portion ratio than this. Especially in this economy. I'm definitely coming back, cause apparently the other burritos are even BIGGER according to the staff. Price, taste, quantity. Can't be beat. You'd be doing yourself a disservice if you skip this spot. Or maybe skip it, so they don't get overhyped and jack up their prices. (yeah, I'm a little selfish XD)

Hugeness of portion!!!! BBQ sauce brought a nice punchy kick to the tower o' meat sammie. Only demerit was lack of much bark on the meat in my sandwich. Buddy's sliced brisket sandwich, which was equally massive, showed *lots* of bark. So if you're a Barky BBQ Boi, sliced brisket will be your jam from ABQ Slow Smoked BBQ as opposed to the chopped brisket that seems to be the default brisket sandwich filling. BBQ beans were on par with the sandwich. Multiple varieties of beans swimming in a semi-sweet & tangy sauce. Shreds of smoked meat added their pungence to the mix. A dish that makes eating your veggies mighty tasty!! Pickled veggies, particularly the carrots, offered bright clean taste to counterbalance the pungence of the meat & beans. How has this food truck not been reviewed yet??…read more I'll be honest, I have been burned by bbq food trucks before. But there's just something about them that every time I see them, I have to try it. We were heading to Costco, ready to lunch on a hotdog when we saw the food truck in the parking lot (closer to the sports store). The smoker attached to truck, the charming way the menu was laid out and with two people already in line, it was calling to me. The two people in line were munching on a beef rib that I'm sure he gave to them to try during the wait. The guy closest to me...the meat looked so juicy. So I said to him "man that looks so good" and all he could muster was a shake of his head, like "you have no idea". The first guy ordered and really was insistent on paying more money...(he wanted drinks but they were included in the sandwich price so he was like, well fine then, let me buy two more waters). The guy who I talked to about the rib? When he gets to the window, he said he wanted one of everything! Yeeeees. I have a hard time not ordering nachos anytime I come across them, so I got the nachos with brisket and the picky eater got the brisket sandwich with coleslaw for the side. When he took a bite, he said it was "damn good." Pretty good review from the picky eater. The sandwich also came with pickles, and pickled onions, carrots and a jalapeño, all of which were amazing. Perfectly crunchy and sour. The nachos were great, made even better by the pickled veggies (cause I stole those from him). And the bbq sauce with the brisket was just perfect. We stood in the line under the hot sun and it was tooooootally worth it. I overheard him tell one of the customers that he tries to get out to that spot at least twice a week.
