You can tell he is passionate and love sharing his bbq with his customer. His signature meat? He mentioned the pulled pork meat and the brisket! The side worthy of trying (although Theo himself doesn't like coleslaw himself? The pineapple coleslaw...based on my brief discussion with another local customer I met onsite! I personally found that the price/value for the amount and quality of food Nomad's bbq provides is well worth it. I had a pulled pork sandwich (plus a bit of brisket and the 2 sides that I couldn't resist trying to save for my next meal) and thought the meat was smokey, jiving and so scrumptious...and this is coming from someone who normally doesn't eat so much meat like myself! He mentioned being at the yellow & blue HappyDaze Cannabis building across from the Maverik gas station on Jefferson St NE at junction of I-25 and Jefferson. I'm unsure of what days & hours. Not great, pretty annoying, after waiting two hours, my order was canceled. Are any of these reviews actually real?

The key word here is smoky flavor. You can try your hand at prepping your own ribs at home, etc. but you won't get the smokiness achieved at Nomad's. I tried this recently and failed miserably. So what to order here? I liked the pulled pork even though I am not a huge fan. They pull this off very well (this might be one of their strong items actually). You can't go wrong with a full rack of ribs, dipping them in their signature bbq sauce will have you licking your fingers. You also need to have the hot links, because they are hot links. I tried the sweet corn side which paired very well with everything. I recommend calling in your order in advance as things sell out. read more

This is a review of Nomads inside of Isleta amphitheater. The food is pretty good but the portions were really small especially for $13. I had some brisket and some pulled pork. Food prices are always high at concerts so it was expected to be a little more expensive but damn put some food on the plate. The service flat out sucked. I don't know what was going on between the cashier and the cook but it certainly carried over into the way we were treated. Normally when you tell someone thank you and leave them a tip you expect some kind of acknowledgment but nothing just a spaced out stare from the young lady and a pissed off cook lol. Anyways I read great reviews about the actual restaurant and so I'll probably go in and try it out but I'm not giving them any more of my money at the concerts. Two thumbs down from me. read more

It's a small building, with happy employees that are happy to serve you. I picked up a brisket sandwich and baked beans. The bun was soft and tasty. The brisket was tender and salty- the kind that makes your mouth water. Beans were flavorful. The pepper provided them some pep, along with some kind of special seasoning. The barbeque sauce also seemed home made. It was vinegar-based but it had the right amount of balance with tangy and sweet. Yelp provided the sandwich and the beans were $3. This bbq is very tasty, and the servings are HUGE! We ordered Brisket sandwich and a special sandwich plate (includes a hot link and pulled pork). For the sides we chose beans and corn. Everything was delicious, and you order at a window and the staff brings everything to your car in the parking lot. Everyone was wearing masks and gloves, and the service was friendly and quick. We have the special sandwich plate to a friend, but it looked and smelled delicious. My husband and I shared the brisket sandwich, and I ate four meals from my half. 4.5 stars I was in the area picking up some cookies and decided to give Nomad's a call to stop by for a Yelp elite event. My parents had both wanted the smoked chicken, but was told by Theo that the weather was having an effect on cooking the chicken and it wouldn't be ready for about another hour and a half to two hours. I called him back and had gotten three of the brisket sandwiches (I was a little confused by the two different menus and different prices that were listed for the Door Dash menu vs. the menu on Yelp) and a side of the pineapple slaw to be ready in about 15 minutes. Theo and his staff were friendly. He had said he had been at this location for about 3 months. The building is a little hidden behind El Patio, so I hope they can get the advertising that they need. The one sandwich on top must've gotten tipped as it was loaded in the bag or carrying it to the car, as I wanted to take a peak at the sandwich in the car and had flipped the brisket grease on my pants and jacket. No worries and nothing a few napkins couldn't fix. I bet I would've been popular at the dog park afterwards :) The sandwiches were huge, and just the half size was perfect for my small appetite. My brisket was perfect cuts of meat with very little fat, and flavorful. The slaw was good and the pineapple was a nice touch. The great thing about Yelp is all the new places I get to try and helping support small businesses. Trust me, I know good BBQ and this is beyond great. Not only is the food I tried delicious, but the owner is an extremely nice person that made me feel at home the moment he saw me walking up to the ordering window. Nomads has a walk-up window where orders are placed. The menu is nothing fancy but the simplicity is perfect. They offer brisket, pulled pork, sausage, ribs, and Turkey legs served up as a sandwich or by itself. You can add on sides for a couple bucks more to make it a plate. Drink selection was extremely limited to Dr. Pepper, so it was a pass on the beverages. On this occasion, I had the pulled pork sandwich as I was told brisket was sold out. I was there relatively early, so I'm kind of perplexed. Brisket is the meat that most BBQ joints are judged on. So I was undoubtedly bummed as this restaurant is quite a drive from the nest. Orders were delivered to my car, so that was a plus. The pulled pork was really good. It came on an overly fluffy roll, which was perfect given how juicy the meat was. If not for this bread, the sandwich probably would have fell apart from being soggy. The sandwich that I ordered was huge, as in I barely finished it huge. The meat was smoked to juicy perfection with pronounced smoke taste present in every bite. Quality of food: perfect. The price was reasonable at $7 for the huge portion. Overall, I really liked this place. Super bummed that I didn't get to taste the holy grail cut of BBQ, brisket, on this occasion, but it is a place that I will give a second shot at some point. Raz wants to hand out more stars, but since the highest option is 5, I have to stop there. Let's start with the layout: Nomad is a conversion from a successful food truck business, so they kept the safe and handy order window format, where the queue is outside with excellent airflow and plenty of elbow room for social distancing. No the order section of the restaurant seems to have good separation from the grill, so you have the added food safety peace-of-mind that the cook isn't handling payments. The lovely young server handling orders also delivers the finished and packaged meals to your car, and the turn around is pretty quick. All-in-all it's a classic route 66 type of experience with customer safety a high priority. We took our order on the run and ate at home, that's about a 20 minute trip for us, and the food was all still piping hot when we unpacked and tucked in. We were extremely pleasantly surprised at the value of the meal. We were looking at prices online first, and it seems the online menu has a mark-up for whichever group handles the online platform. At the window, we got "Special" and Chicken platters for a very reasonable $11 each and were mightily pleased. Since we had an elite perk, we also tried a small pile of brisket. At first taste the sauce seems a little on the sweet side, but it's got a nice, slow-burning kick. The meat (really generous portions mind you) was all smoky, juicy, and fall-off-the-bone tender. Each type of meat paired so perfectly with that sweet, spicy sauce that each bite was like savoring a little taste of hog heaven. Best surprise of all was the bread. No factory dinner rolls or planks of wonder bread here! We aren't sure if the little hoagie rolls are made in-house, or supplied from elsewhere, but I can't think of any bbq joint across the country that has a more perfect roll on offer. We completed each platter with the sweet corn and dirty rice sides, only to find that the dirty rice is a meal in itself well worth going back for all on its own. The corn isn't your standard kernels and butter, no, there are peppers and some definite chile going on in that dish. While not a fully balanced meal like the dirty rice, the corn is also thoroughly worth going back for all on its own as well. Was craving som BBQ and decided to give Nomads a try. Read all the great reviews and wanted to see for myself. Called in and spoke to the owner/chef Theo Lewis. Raised here in ABQ he learned how to BBQ from a local old timer. When we pulled into the parking lot there he was tending to his huge smoker the size of a residential propane tank. He met me and the wife with a big hello and although he was wearing a mask there was no doubt he had a big grin going on underneath. I ordered 2 racks of his ribs, 1lb each of his pulled pork and brisket, 4 hot links and sides of his sweet corn, beans and pineapple cole slaw. The ribs had a nice crust and the meat was moist and tender and fell off the bone. The pulled pork and brisket were equally tender and moist and cooked just right. The hot links had snapping tight skins and were also quite tasty. The sauce is excellent as well with just the right mix of sweet to vinegar. The sweet corn and slaw were great compliments to the meat as well. The beans were just a tad to tomatoey for my tastes but still very good. Theo is the real deal folks. Making a go of it during these tough times isn't easy for restaurateurs. But Theo is killing it with his BBQ and if you get the chance to visit with him don't pass it up. Maybe I'm not very well-versed on the difference between good ol' BBQ vs. seriously smoky meats, I'll state that there is a difference. Nomad's is the latter variety, and it's pretty darn good. Just a man and his smoker serving up some tasty meats! He often pops up at breweries on weekend afternoons. We stumbled upon his "trailer" after a long bike ride. I like trying new (to me) restaurants, so after work, I decided to try Nomads BBQ. It's a decent distance from my work but easy to find thanks to Maps. If you look at the Nomads menu on here, there's a good amount of choices but when your there, those choices are limited. I went with the Brisket Sandwich with 2 sides for $16.00, my main BBQ restaurant is Powdrel's, they're food is what I compare to, Nomads hands you a styrofoam 3 choice box, #1 is full of shredded Brisket, the other 2 bbq bean & corn. There is assembly required for the sandwich which is cool, they're Brisket was some of the Best tasting Brisket and the bean & corn had some kick in their spices. I would give Nomads BBQ 5 stars but they offered only 1 soft drink and no desserts. When I'm in range of Rio Grande & Griegos, I'm definitely buying from Nomads! read more

Sweet corn is DELICIOUS!! Just wish they put a fork or a spoon in my bag so I didn't have to eat it with my hands but damn is the corn great. Yes the food was great the one time I ordered. I have attempted to place an order on line. The website says they are closed. Tried to call in and have been put through some strange answering service. Someone finally answered and asked to call back and it wold go through to the store...??HUH? We called back and a girl answered and she said they were closed. The hours online showed them open. We asked about the online hours, the girl changed her story and said they were working on a catering order and they were closed. The one time I was able to order the food was good. However when I went to pick up my order a young man and what appeared to be his girlfriend and some kid out of view was making very loud comments in the background. I am so happy we have this place so close to where I live. I love the barbecue. I don't know much about barbecue (vegetarian for most of my life), but I love this, and my two friends that I've taken there have confirmed that it is, in fact, very good barbecue. There is always enough meat for two servings, and the sides are delicious. Hello BBQ sandwiches! Pulled pork, and hot links are my favorite. Usually 5-7 dollars. A smoker pulled by a truck or a RV beholds magical smoke laden meat, I think my favorite are the hot links. The first time we met it was dark and I was pub crawling in Nob Hill. My coworker said he has the good S&%T. We finished a shot at the stinky B.O. and cheap cologne laden Monte Vista, then headed for the rave space ship interior of Imbibe. We finished out beer and headed home. Hunger struck, and man was I glad that this beacon of glory held fast on the street. We got our foil wrapped parcels back home and devoured the carnivore goodness like hungry wolves.
