We completely ran out of time for lunch, and I ended up running inside to buy Blake's so my kid would have something to eat before the next round. Then came the burrito itself. Absolutely flavorless. A culinary proof of concept demonstrating that salt is optional. I ended up bringing it home and drowning it in salsa just to make it edible. I understand food trucks can get slammed during events, but if the turnaround is going to be that long, people need some warning, especially when you are serving families trying to fit food into short scheduled breaks.

Rib dinner was a short handful of bones well smoked & strong on the smokiness front. Its distinct flavor really woke up the taste buds in a most positive way. Really tasty! The sweet/spicy BBQ sauce accompanying the ribs was indeed both sweet on the front end and seriously hot at the finish. Just a touch less than too much spiciness to handle, so just right to my tastes. Green chile corn had prominent corn & green chile flavors dancing on the palate and a delightfully hearty punch in the heat department from the generous sprinkling of chile chunks throughout the portion. Apple slaw struck me as being pretty neutral in taste, though not in a detrimental way. Just kind of plain jane compared to the robust flavors of the ribs & corn. Smoked turkey breast meat received complimentary comments on its taste & texture from dining partner.

My lasted venture with their eats happened at High and Dry Brewing. It was my first time at the brewery so I was happy to see a familiar food truck when I walked up. It was the one year anniversary of High and Dry so it was a perfect day for them to post up. I know that I like their chicken bite but I wanted something different and opted for the California Chicken sandwich. Upon first glance it looked pretty basic but I was very pleasantly won over by the sandwich after the first bite. Yes, it this is a fried chicken breast, but it is very lightly battered/breaded and is cooked perfectly! The chicken is soft and moist not hard and dry. It is also not a dainty sandwich, filled with cheese, avocado, mustard, pickles, tomatoes and onion so make sure to get a napkin. I cleaned my plate. Cajun fries and all. I'm looking forward to the next time I happen across the Blazin Barn. I want to try something else from their menu....if I can refrain from ordering the California Chicken again.

While there are probably ten other food trucks just like this one in Albuquerque, I doubt anybody else delivers an exceptional vegetarian taco the way Julie's cooks it up. I was floored, I just didn't expect the medley of veggies -- particularly the mushrooms -- to pop like that. While I was disappointed that there wasn't a pollo option for the tacos, burritos or tortas, the beef and pork bites were absolutely worthy. Like I said, find this truck just south of Chile Konnection (that's Connection with a K, folks) on Broadway, next to the main post office. Delicious.
