Great flavor in both, such a fun mix of soul food style and Asian with tasty creamy and spicy sauces on them, fresh bread and veggies, and very big portions. The cole slaw had a very funny taste to it so didn't eat much of it but must have been enough to give me serious distress in the lower tract. Waited in line for almost two hours food was OK, brisket was fatty and really hard, coleslaw didn't have sauce​, so it was just cabbage. Sweet potato fries were not good and cold! Much like Howie K. I spent my first few years here in ABQ complaining about how there were no food truck, even Taco Trucks were limited. And then one day, Talin decided they were gonna host a Food Truck day...(If you haven't experienced Food Truck Wednesday at Talin, whats wrong with you? Why are you even on Yelp?) Anyway...a few months go by and BOOM! We got trucks...needless to say its a good good thing. I have frequented Supper Truck on many occasions and in a couple locations that they frequent (Sandia, Talin, and Marble) I've tried the Bahn Mi, Brisket Tacos, Fries, Moon Pies, Shrimp and Grits, Jambalaya. Wings...that had a name...that I don't remember...the fish tacos when Dia De los Tacos made a come back tour, and maybe a couple other specials that escape me at the moment. I would have been at the Yelp event had it not been for that pesky "job" thing I have to do occasionally. I think the Bahn Mi and Brisket Tacos are tied for my favorite Supper Truck foods and I really love the waffle fries with the Mojo...got a little drool goin there for a minute.. I should also mention that their service is pretty legit too, I spent a month on crutches and would still visit them at Talin and they would bring the food out to the car so I wouldn't have perform some stupid human tricks to get myself back to the car with bags in hand, Thanks Guys! We saw this truck outside Tractor on a Friday night. They are nice enough to bring food inside the brewery if you tell them u are eating inside. She gave me a beanie baby thing to locate me inside which was nice since it would have been almost a 10 min wait if you had to stay outside. My review is purely on my order of shrimp and grits....yummy yummy..southern comfort food to the max. Don't eat if u are not into cream and butter.... Lots of that going on in this dish. The grits were super dense but in a good filling way...which went really well with the bourbon cream sauce...there were three shrimp which were flavored really well but felt there could have been more shrimp to offset how much grits there were .. Even just one more shrimp. We were supposed to eat a snack, have a beer, then go out to dinner but I got so full from these grits that we cancelled dinner plans.... Super filling which is good since it was about 10$. Also the presentation was pretty coming from a truck :) I look forward trying them out again if I see them outside tractor... All-around the worst food truck I have ever patroned. The wait was just atrocious, especially given the fact that they initially gave our order to someone else with no warning. After multiple reminders that we hadn't gotten our food (and reminders of what we ordered), they finally managed to squeak out our cold food. My burrito was big but not very flavorful and frankly it was just full of fries. The bbq po boy looked like a bahn mi sandwich and did not have BBQ sauce. I started fantasizing about the Chicken Bahn mi. That is what it takes for me to declare 5 stars. We have eaten it twice and this is evil genius. They had a promo going on at Marble brewing yesterday for the Sansa sour release, and you got some free truffle fires with purchase. Fries were hand cut and awesome. We had the fried pickles a couple weeks ago. Boyfriend thought they were some of the best he had ever had. They were too salty for me to enjoy completely. It can get kind of crazy with the pickles already being brined. The only other thing is the bread with the bahn mi sandwich usually ends up falling apart. This is only a minor setback- still awesome. Make sure you have napkins. I have yet to try the shrimp and grits. I am sure I will. I make this dish at home a couple times a year, after I got addicted eating it at Lucile's in Boulder. If you are craving creole food and are in Colorado make sure you go to Lucile's they have one in Denver, Boulder and Ft Collins. They have amazing Beignets, shrimp and grits,and mile high biscuits. As a veteran of this town, I can firmly state that one of the struggles of living in a burgeoning, yet hopelessly small, stubborn city is the wait for big city convenience and culture. There was a time not so long ago when the fine dining scene consisted of a handful of restaurants (Stephen's, Petroleum Club, Artichoke Cafe), the only place to party downtown was a joint called Banana Joe's, Krispy Creme was somehow the biggest thing since sliced bread, and organic produce could only be found in your own backyard. Essentially, this hole was exceptionally uncool, save a relatively decent underground music scene, which subsequently moved out of state. Every so often there's hope. The food truck scene was big in most cities about, oh, ten years ago. If you hit Denver or Seattle or Boston these days, local growers markets, bakers and specialty food shops are "in", but the food truck geek-out is long over. Here in the 505 we're just getting started, and at the moment the competition for sturdy, inspired street eats is crowded with shady, flat and outright lame-o options. Thankfully, the Supper Truck is one of very few which legitimately earn urban street cred and do so in style. Serving southern food to this populace is challenging enough on it's own; collard greens and grits don't have a place in this local lexicon, and anything having to do with comfort food is supposed to include green chile. The Supper Truck sticks to a few staple recipes like tacos, corn grits and sliders and riffs on each endlessly, throwing in a little Bahn Mi here, some whiskey there, and an infamous MOMO sauce that'll kill you. It's seriously creative and delightfully quick considering the depth of flavor in the dish, and the price is right. Get it while you can, because successes like this don't stay inside trucks for long, and in Burque (take it from a veteran), they often skip town. Food trucks are taking Albuquerque by storm, and I can't say I'm sorry. So many different options, and you can usually find them clustered in groups so you can samplet he awesomeness. The Supper Truck brings Southern food to NM, and it's needed. My hubby is from TN, and he misses certain things desperately. We hit up the Supper Truck (They reopened!) and he had shrimp and grits. He left fat and happy, which makes me happy. I had the Borachito, which was... amazing. It was unlike any burrito I've ever had. The flavors were so wonderful, and the portion was huge. I was able to eat half of it, and my hubby ate a good part of the other half...and I was sad I couldn't eat more! I don't know what the Supper Truck was like before, but I can tell you...it's good. This little truck is a delight me and my coworker look forward to each Thursday (which is when it comes to do business nearby our office building in the Base-Hart and University area near CNM - it actually stops behind the Hope building usually between 11am-1pm Thursdays). I've had different dishes several times now from this truck and all are dishes prepared with Southern flare and plenty of flavor. From sandwiches to tacos, grits to sliders, there are a variety of lunch choices to choose from. Both my friend and I agree the Shrimp N' Grits is the big favorite. With goat cheese, bacon, green onions, and shrimp, this grits dish is creamy and full of flavor - and is filling too. But their is an array of delicious things to try - today I tried the Fried Chicken Bahn Mi (spelling is probably wrong) sandwich which is southern-breaded and fried boneless / skinless chicken with cucumber slices, pickled carrots, jalapeno, and momo sauce on a french baguette. Extremely tasty. All of the dishes have flourishes of creativity which make you feel as if you are treating yourself with a little mid-day delicacy for lunch! I highly recommend trying to catch this truck for a sure-to-please experience. I got to try the Supper Truck's offerings this Sunday at an Easter Celebration at Mars Hill. I had been excited to try their food ever since I saw the little music video they released for Vero P. and his/her one star review. Good food and a sense of humor? Sign me up! Looking at the menu, you think...well crap, I want to try ALL of it! What we ended up with were 2 Shrimp Tacos and the Fried Chicken Bahn Mi. Hot damn those were probably the BEST shrimp tacos I've ever had. I don't know if I've ever had shrimp cooked as perfectly as they were in those tacos. I am so glad we ordered them! The fried chicken inside of the Bahn Mi was also probably the best fried chicken I've ever had in my dang life. I didn't know it was possible to get such perfectly moist and crunchy fried chicken without it being bone-in. (The only thing I would tweak is that my bahn mi was super heavy on the daikon radish and slaw garnish, which made it super difficult to eat and was just too much for me...but that's an easy fix! I'll just say, "EZ Slaw" next time and it will be perfect!) Super Truck has truly brought something fun, new and different to Albuquerque. They are so quirky and unique. Amy (the owner) is an absolute sweet heart and makes fantastic food. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Their shrimp and grits are a staple. Also I would recommend following them on Facebook because very often they will have delicious items they will serve that aren't on the menu if you ask nicely for them:) Some of the things that aren't on their staple menu but they have occasionally happen to be my favorite. I had the pleasure of having the Lobster Nachos that I know are very rare and limited. Butter poached lobster, fresh corn chips, Gruyere cheese, and mango salsa...I have dreams about this dish. Upon hearing the buzz about the Supper Truck, this southern girl was skeptical. Grits done well in New Mexico? No way. As it turns out, I was terribly wrong to doubt them, and I'm so glad I was. Everything I've had here is amazing, and I especially love the spiced up winter version of the shrimp n grits. The menu revolves, which is great, because it keeps me coming back to try new dishes, and the food mirrors the season. The folks behind the wheel are fantastic, too, and have southern hospitality down pat. Sure, it can take a while to get your food sometimes, but it's worth knowing that everything is prepared fresh. In a nutshell: -shrimp and grits are still good as ever and the shrimp may even be better and more seasoned - the BBQ tacos were rich and full of roasty, deep south flavor.... My only complaint is that I need salsa with my tacos, something that I mentioned to Amy. - the Borrachito is about to be my new go-to when I track down the truck. Fries in the burrito? With the ribs? And all types of spice? And just damn good? Por favor. - Lime fries were just as good as the name suggests and come with that magical sauce that makes the banh mi so good. It took FOREVER to finally hook up with their fried pickles, but it was worth the wait!!! I had been dying to try them for months, but every time I saw the truck, wither they weren't quite ready for frying yet, or they had run out, or something like that. FINALLY, one night at Marble Brewery, it all came together. Delightfully sliced pickles, dipped in Marble Red batter, fried to deletable perfection. Such a weird thing to fry, but so tangily delicious! At a Yelp event at Zendo, I had to arrive late because I was in class. As I was on my way, things were winding down, so my brilliant husband got them to make one last entree for me. It was a new item at the time - banh mi tacos. HO-LEE CRAP! Such joyous eating! A mixture of flavors you don't expect and can't get enough of. They also had boiled peanuts, cajun style, I believe. I am no fan of boiled peanuts - what a bizarre thing to do to a wonderful nut. But in this case, I was hooked! I don't know what they did to those peanuts, but I could have eaten a barrel of them! I can't say I have had everything on their menu, but I can say that I have never had anything there that wasn't just damn delicious. I tried this place when they were parked outside the Tractor Tavern on Nob Hill. The woman inside was really nice and the food was just about the perfect thing to pair with some pints of Tractor IPA. Everything tasted fresh, incredibly rich, and the items were all a great value. I really appreciate the fact that they delivered our food after we ordered so we didn't have to wait out in the cold while it was prepped. I love when a food truck is nice and clean, also when the employees working inside look clean too! A big plus! Pretty much anything from the supper truck is good, but my favorite is their shrimp & grits. Granted its the second time I've ever had grits, but it was a nice texture- kind of like sweet rice. They were out of Shrimp and Grits, but it wasn't early, so understandable. My Fried Pickles were another story. instead of being made from chips, they seemed to be spears or halves. Do you buy whole pickles and cut them up? The cucumber skins on the pickles were very tough and difficult to bite through. I think some of the best food in Albuquerque comes from food trucks, and The Supper Truck is no exception. My husband and I enjoyed some of their offerings while at Marble Brewery. We shared the pimento cheese nachos, which were phenomenal. The chips were fresh and seasoned perfectly, and the pimento cheese sauce was excellent. We also split the catfish po'boy, which was equally delicious. We finished our meal with a delectable cupcake baked by Princess Pastries. The owner of the business is from Charleston and its nice that she brings a little taste of low country cuisine to abq. Tasty Tuesday at Hyder Park - It started out OK; 5 minutes to get a plate of pulled pork from a trailer for my wife, 3 minutes to get an ice cream taco for the kid, and then I thought I'd give the Supper Truck a try. Since the family already had their food my first question was 'What's the fastest thing to order on the menu?' One of the twins looked over at the grill and said 'Everything's pretty quick right now...', so I ordered a $9.00 burrito. She took my money and said 'Wait over there - it'll be about 10 minutes'. TEN MINUTES?!? I was already disappointed. I chose it because I assumed they could roll up some stewed meat, cheese, and sauce in a tortilla at least as fast as your average drive-thru. Oh, how wrong I was... Instead of joining my family for a pleasant evening in the park, I got to share a bonding experience with some of the other unfortunate customers of 'The Supper Truck'. We started as a group of patient strangers, but after about 15 minutes we were exchanging exasperated head shakes and shoulder shrugs. At the 30 minute mark, we had congregated behind the open rear door in solidarity as people murmured about how they could have gone home, cooked food, and returned to the park in less time. At the 40 minute mark, the musicians were packing up, the sun had gone down, and they brought out my burrito. They seemed offended that I didn't greet them with gratitude and a smile. Instead of an apology for the wait, one twin claimed 'I'm not the cook', and the other twin rushed over to back up her sister's (non)righteous indignation. My guess is that bloom is off the rose, and they've lost their enthusiasm. Wow, the Supper truck was seriously disappointing. I ordered nachos, which was literally chips covered in canned (baseball stadium-type) cheap nacho cheese with two --yes, two-- slices of jalapeño and a tiny sprinkle of beef. The special Parmesan fries and the burrito were mostly flavorless and unmemorable. Window service was also poor. Not friendly, not attentive even enough to take our order without repeating it a few times. Maybe we totally hit them on a bad night. I won't be back to this yellow truck ever again. We squeezed our way into Marble to meet a group of friends and they couldn't stop raving about The Supper Truck so my wife and I decided to get dinner. My wife was intrigued by the chicken and waffle tacos and I couldn't resist the borachitos burrito. We also had some fried pickles and french fries a friend ordered. The waffle tacos were interesting. The chicken was flavorful and well cooked but it was essentially wrapped in an Eggo waffle. I guess it was true to the description but wasn't as impressive. The burrito was really amazing. The Vietnamese flavors were very prominent and enjoyed. I think my only complaint was that it could have done without the fries. They didn't really add much. And it was messy but well worth it. The fried pickles we had from a friend were good if not a bit greasy. You know how some things in life build towards a crescendo, but then seem to keep building a little higher every minute or so, until you finally wonder just how much better life can get (hey, why does everyone get their mind in the gutter when reading my reviews?)?....yeah, this was like that....maybe better. As I savored each bite of my short rib burrito (maybe it was a Borrachito, I don't know, I just asked for a burrito), I would experience a rush of flavor upon first chew but then the sensation would return at least twice more as my mouth discovered a spot of lime, cilantro, or that perfect seasoning on the meat.....I was vacillating about wanting to tell everyone I know about this perfection I'd just discovered, or simply buying out their stock of burritos everyday and keeping the secret to myself. Definitely one of the better food trucks that we've tried! We found them downtown outside of Zendo's during a Yelp event. We ordered the Shrimp and Grits and the Fried Chicken Bahn Mi. Both were excellent! The fried chicken po boy on French bread with pickled carrots and jicama(?) was fantastic. It even had a bit of heat to it, which is always nice. I didn't try the Shrimp n' Grits, but my wife loved them and she's not one to say something is "good" unless she really likes it. Even better, after we'd finished part of the meal, the owner of the truck came by and said that they had messed up the Shrimp n' Grits and brought us a sauce that was supposed to go on it, which made it even better! She offered to remake the entire dish, but we were happy with it the way it was, so told her it wasn't necessary. We also ordered the chili-lime fries which were perfect. I love this food truck! I wish Amy has huge success! The pimento cheese fries are so sinfully delicious. I recently had the catfish tacos and they remind me of this place I loved in Seattle. I think I will crave them on a regular basis! Can't wait to keep trying other items. The watermelon salad for instance... And shrimp and grits I heard where off the hook! read more
