I was blown away at how mouth watering the BBQ meat was! By far the best BBQ I've had in a while - possibly the best I've had in NM to be honest. I had the Brisket Burnt Ends Green Chili Cheese Fries and with every bite it was an "oh my God" moment. You can taste the backwoods trees they personally cut down themselves to smoke this fine meat. I know the owner Matt from high school and I have to say he still has the knack for cooking! Him & his brother David take the food truck back and forth between Albuquerque and Grants NM to serve the communities. Great service, & great food. Make sure to get your fingers on this stuff, & lick them clean!

    Call, go, eat, enjoy!

Bottom Line: Texas style BBQ of the highest order!!! And at pretty reasonable prices too. Very cordial owner! Save your gas money, skip the BBQ trip to Austin or San Antone. Hit up Big Boi BBQ at the food truck gathering on the corner of Central & Unser to scratch your BBQ itch. Thank me later. Top Line: First things first. Huge shout out to the one man owner-operator, pitmaster, cashier, chief cook & bottle washer of this truck for his warm, friendly & cordial greeting. Matt (as best my leaky brain remembers) was a delight to talk with all through our interaction. It's great to have him on the Duke City eating scene! I scored a 1/3 lb sliced smoked brisket sandwich with plain unaccessorized fries for dinner when I got home and a half pound of sliced brisket (mixed 50-50 lean & fat end of the brisket) loose meat for later consumption. Total ring out came to $28 and change. Gotta tell ya, the smell of the Big Boi BBQ sack made the half hour drive home seem *WAY* longer. Aromatic nirvana!! First bite of the brisket sandwich told me I'd struck gold. Smoke note stood front & center, comin' in hot & heavy, loaded for bear, punchy-punchy-punchy, makin' a ruckus all over my taste buds & up mah nose. Acrid sharp heavenly smoke like I've found on my better Texas road trips. The smoke ring & bark circling each slice was not lyin'. This is the real deal!! This brisket was absolutely addictive. I could not stop my voracious chowing down until the last bite was gone. Then I was left wishin' for more. Brisket was likewise very, very tender. Bark was of course super strong on smokiness, as well as being tender & not crusty hard. Obviously the brisket had spent sufficient time wrapped to make the whole thing wonderously soft. Moistness of the meat ran a bit to the middle of the pack, which I found to be about right. While the slices were not actively dripping juice, a few napkins should be at the ready nonetheless. BBQ sauce was a bit sweet, but had a serious kick with a harmonious black pepper & smokiness duet goin' on. I'm thinkin' the extra sauce is gonna make killer scrambled eggs some morning. Bun was large & sturdy enough to hold up to the load of meat, sauce, & pickles. The half hour drive home did the fries a huge disservice. Being in the sauna-like box with the sandwich sogged them out & limped them up pretty badly. But that ain't Big Boi's fault. Obviously I should live closer. Flavor of the fries was still on the mark. So stop by and give Big Boi BBQ a chance to fill you up with some of (if not *the*) best Texas style BBQ in town.

So, I think it's time I update my review and give them that last star! They've certainly earned all…read morefive from me!I I've tried them out all around town at different locals and have to be disappointed! My lasted venture with their eats happened at High and Dry Brewing. It was my first time at the brewery so I was happy to see a familiar food truck when I walked up. It was the one year anniversary of High and Dry so it was a perfect day for them to post up. I know that I like their chicken bite but I wanted something different and opted for the California Chicken sandwich. Upon first glance it looked pretty basic but I was very pleasantly won over by the sandwich after the first bite. Yes, it this is a fried chicken breast, but it is very lightly battered/breaded and is cooked perfectly! The chicken is soft and moist not hard and dry. It is also not a dainty sandwich, filled with cheese, avocado, mustard, pickles, tomatoes and onion so make sure to get a napkin. I cleaned my plate. Cajun fries and all. I'm looking forward to the next time I happen across the Blazin Barn. I want to try something else from their menu....if I can refrain from ordering the California Chicken again.

My only criticism is that my friend had to munch only on the fries because there weren't many small vegetarian friendly options and that I was hoping for more ketchup since we got a big serving of fries (good, well made, not greasy and yummy fries).

I was in between a meeting and thought I would stop by Kimo's for lunch out of whim as it happened…read moreto be along the way to my next meeting. I'm so glad I finally got to check this place out after all these years of living here. The store is in an industrial area, and looking from the road, you can definitely miss it if you blink. It looks a lil sort of like a hole in a wall place and I wasn't even sure it was open by looking from the outside even! But...I did park in the back and checked out the shop! I opted for Loco Moco with overeasy egg, soda and got 2 spam musubi to go. I must say the food hit the spot for me. I hadn't had Hawaiian food for close to 10 years now so it was really nostalgic savoring this thing again. The spam musubi was also great though on a pricy side..but hey..once in a while, it's good to treat yourself with yummy things! The staff there were both friendly. They ended up chatting with me most of the time since when I stopped by it wasn't busy with the crowds. I also learned they do have food truck offerings at events at Hyder Park on select days, too! Just the only things I wished they had some other things like guava cake and mochiko chicken that I really missed too though!

When I first moved here to Albuquerque, NM, I was so excited to find there was a Hawaiian place…read morehere and my friend from church, also from Hawai'i, brought me a plate lunch of my favorite chicken katsu. It was awesome and made just right! So why the 2 stars??? It started off with so much potential, then quickly went downhill. I was happy to see they offered delivery, and so I ordered and looked forward to some ono grinds (good food). When I got the delivery and opened the container, my first reaction was "WHAAAAAATTT?????". This was NOT katsu! It was mushy chicken teriyaki-ish swimming in sauce, mac salad that was masquerading as local mac salad, and overall just a container of non-local food. It didn't taste goo either. I was told at the time that it was under new management, but even so, it should not have kicked its standards to the curb. I was afraid to eat their food after that. If you are going to advertise yourself as a Hawaiian food place, make sure you got the goods. We locals know the difference.
