I am not a "club-person," that being said, this review is written as if I were. No bias here, just cold, hard facts. POP is, as it's name would suggest, a loud, dance club that's poppin' on a Friday night on West 6th. The music and the patrons spill onto the sidewalk, almost blocking you from going in - and I almost wish they had. Inside is a pink-lit, can't hear your friends, crowded, sweaty, dance party that I was accidentally invited to. The space is limited and the floor is packed with hip swayers in boat shoes. One side is lined with tables for bottle service and the other is lined with people waiting to put an order in at the bar. The layout creates a small pathway through the drunk dancers that'll shoot you out to the end of the club, kinda like a tube slide. There's nowhere to stand, so you better have came to dance. This is not a scathing review, in fact, I thought the place was fine albeit not my scene. The staff was really friendly and the wait for a beer was never too long. The bad things were the price of alcohol (it's W. 6th, no duh) and the fact that the "dance floor" was actually just the floor, so no matter where you stood it was super crowded. read more

Probably the worst bar in the entire city. The crowd, douche bags. The staff, rude. The drinks, water downed. It reminds me of a bar I would frequent when I was underage and desperate for a drink. The music they were playing while we were there is about the only reason this place deserves one start. When we got there, it wasn't very busy so we (two of us) sat at the bar. We were there for an hour or so and regularly drinking and ordering drinks. While we were there it did get more busy but not packed and there was not a struggle at the bar for anyone there to get drinks. So this employee walks up to us from behind and says he's going to need to take our seats. I asked him why, it's not that busy, and he said that they can't have them out anymore. I said ok we're just going to finish our drinks, close out, and leave. He told us we didn't need to leave and I told if we can't sit here, we're just going to leave. Within 30 seconds of him leaving, someone else came by again saying they need to take our chairs. We had the same exact conversation with this guy only both he and i more irritated. Once he left, I asked for the check. Again someone else came over and the same conversation was had. So we delta with three tools each with more of a powertrip withing 3-5 minutes. The drinks were way over priced and they were weak. I was counting one particular bartenders pours and he was pouring them weak. We will never be going to this place. The staff was a mix of dirty 6th personality mixed with pretentiousness. read more

Stumbled in here during ACL weekend while taking a break from the Fest. Little did I know I would discover the most extensive Slider menu I had ever seen. I tried the Tankatsu, Belly, Crab Caker and Monte Crisco. I also tried the Bulgogli but I recommend this in a lettuce wrap as opposed to a Bun. They were all superb. In terms of food, this place definitely adds to the interesting food concepts in Austin. read more

Do NOT come here for a bachelorette party!! This place is deceiving!! There are hidden fees that you don't know about until the end. I ended up with a 400 dollar bill and I was told to come to the register to pay for it AFTER I told the promoter or whatever he is called that I was paying with cash. I asked for him to bring me to bill several times. After being tired of waiting we walked the cash to the register for him! Stupidity, I am the damn customer, you bring me the damn bill! I shouldn't have to force my way through a jam packed drunk fest to wait for you to check me out. I left no tip - there were hidden fees, our drinks were filled maybe twice, and then the episode with paying for the bill. He offered to buy us shots like a damn moron and we left. Where do I even start.... Found this little gem recently and fell in love! Ladies....one of the nicest and largest bathrooms I've seen and yes even at 1:50am! Awesome music and lighting thats unreal!! Creates an environment like none other... Spent our Halloween weekend here with friends and had an absolute blast..... Even at max capacity I could still walk around and never felt too crowded. They even have a nice outside porch area with fireplace, Tvs and a bar! The staff is amazing to say the least....great drinks excellent and quick service..what more could you want? This place is by far one of my favorites! Was downtown visiting Austin with some friends, we attempted to get into Pop but were denied service. The reason that the doorman cited we were not allowed in was due to my friends service dog. My friends dog is licensed and certified as a service animal. We explained that it wasn't just a dog we were trying to walk in but a service animal. The doorman who came out of nowhere said he wasn't having it, that it was up to him. We explained that it's Texas law and a part of the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to guarantee the right of a person to be accompanied by their trained service animal in all public places. The doorman was still not having any of it, instead of arguing with him we decided to leave. Believe me, I'll never visit this place and will make sure to go out of my way to encourage others to ignore this place who appear to be anti-veteran and anti-service animal. read more

I used to enjoy it here until they got ridiculously picky about their dress code. The bouncer specifically said, "Yeah my manager won't let you come in with cuffed pants." He was referring to my khaki H&M style joggers and I couldn't roll my eyes enough. They were fitted and I had on a tucked short-sleeved, button-up shirt. The manager must be out of touch with reality. This is NOT an upscale bar by any means. You're on 6th street. Please don't pretend you're not. You're missing out on money because closer to midnight on a Friday night there was practically no one inside. I have been to this bar on two occasions and both experiences were terrible. The first experience, the bar was too crowded and the music was so loud all I could think about was damaging my hearing. Everyone's drink tasted off as well. The second time, it was Halloween and we were waiting in line to get in to meet some friends that were already there. The doorman looked at us then looked at the people behind us and said "I'm going to let you in because I love your costumes, Orange is the new black is my favorite show". Excuse me, but when did this sort of garbage exist in Austin? This bar is exactly what I don't like that Austin is becoming. Pretentious. This isn't Dallas. I refuse to go back to this bar. No wonder this bar is always empty. I've never had such a horrible experience at a bar. First of all, it was practically empty except for the groups of girls baited in there with free cheap champagne and the horrid smell of vomit. My friends and I were offered free champagne so we went in and were rudely told our one male friend wasn't allowed to have any by the extremely condescending bartender who told me to complain to the owner if I had a problem. For trying to be a pretentious and high-end bar, it's shocking how much this bar reminds me of the trash bars on dirty 6th street. Can't wait till its replaced. read more

I'm not a fan. Pop has potential to be a great bar if it was located in another city. I get that it may be trying to raise the bar of the W 6th street area, but honestly, if people want fancy, just go to the bar at the W hotel just a few blocks away. That place offers way better seating and music and many more food and drink choices. To me Pop is small and offers over priced cocktails that I don't see taking off in this area of Austin. In addition, they are trying to promote themselves as a particular NFL team fan hangout. I personally want to watch my NFL team in a comfortable, non-pretentious environment where both cheap beers and loud cheers are welcomed freely and not out of the norm. If you want to stay fancy and get people to pay over $200 for a bottle of fireball, don't branch out into the football scene and stick to what you know. read more

I was expecting 3 plates of sliders and fries for $20 when in reality it was 3 total sliders and fries. No one mentioned their sliders were a la carte or that it was $5 a pop for 2 bites. No... Just no! Went for a friend's birthday and was extremely disappointed. They had flights on the menu, so I ordered one, which contained Dom Perignon, Moët & Chandon Rose and another high-end champagne. Well, they said they wouldn't serve it because they won't make their money back by opening the bottles. I said "ok, how about I guarantee I will drink at least 2 glasses, if you will just open one of them." The answer shockingly was "NO." All they have is nasty sparkling wine by the glass; no real champagne. If you want a bottle it's about 500% markup. Beautiful bar. This bar offers a little bit of everything. Its a champagne bar that brings some flare to west 6th. It also has a great selection of any cocktail's you would like. U can chill on the patio and or go inside and listen to great music with video DJs at night. Pop also has NFL network so you can watch ur favorite team on Sundays. Great staff!! read more

After many attempts at calling the number on this google ad, and their website, speaking to the GM and getting directed to another person, we were able to get a table reservation for a bachelorette party via DM in instagram. The staff that night were wonderful. The girls were so sweet and kind, and helped us celebrate our brides special night out. The gentleman working there were also amazing, because of course we spilled quite a few drinks after having a few drinks. Every who worked there that we encountered was phenomenal. The "upscale" champagne lounge however was a huge disappointment. The website makes it have like a Cabernet lounge kind of vibe and this place was almost like a school hallways meets sports bar. The reserved tables with lounge seating had stained velvet seating. The space itself for each reservation was super small. You really could dance because you would be bumping into the party next to you. Don't get me wrong- everyone was dancing and had a good time. But when you're spending $500-$1200 for "bottle service" I would like my own space. Also the bathroom- wow. They had a cute little area where girls could primp and take pictures but the actual ceiling tiles were falling down and were taped up. There was fecal matter all over the backs and seats of the toilets. There was vomit on the sides and floor around almost every toilet. The mirrors were covered in a film/ dust. I have been in bar bathrooms and I know what to expect. But again- if you're advertising yourself as an upscale champagne lounge, I should not be dodging vomit and fecal matter just to use the facilities. This is definitely a maintenance issue and in no way reflects poorly on the staff that night. They were wonderful and I would come back just for their service. But the venue and facilities were definitely lackluster and needing some serious upgrades. read more
