San Jac Saloon was just what I needed to experience 6th street! It feels like a saloon the minute you swing open the old fashion western saloon doors. Even though it was a Monday night, it was lively! Wonderful ambiance and live music. This place is a must when you're in town!

I don't do 6th, but the Carr sisters rock!!
    Paul R.

Dirty 6th is not our vibe, but a few businesses still bring us here. San Jac is one of them as it has a great bartender, strong pours, and usually good CW music. Be aware that we have been one and done due to the band playing. However, the Carr sisters are now playing on Saturday afternoons and they always keep us there for a few sets. They are CW with a rock twist think Johnny Cash followed by Bruce Springsteen. San Jac has a long bar but there is seating by the dance floor, in the back area, and on a 2nd level. Drinks are relatively inexpensive for Dirty and as mentioned earlier you get a healthy pour. They have a decent local craft beer selection and some top-shelf bourbon, tequila, and.... If you need to get your Dirty on then do stop by San Jac.

The place is clean, cute, and service was friendly. The entertainment was talented and the vibes were positive. Good place to start the night activities ;D

Great atmosphere! The Carr Sisters are a must see. This much fun on a Thursday afternoon should be illegal! Happy hour was awesome. Bartender friendly and handled the crowds with ease.

Great live music both nights we were there. Especially enjoyed Bron Burbank...what a voice. The bartender was generous and attentive. Just a great simple traditional no frills bar with good booze, great music, chill vibe.

$9 draft beer. No, this isn't San Francisco or New York City. $9 draft beer in Austin, Texas.

$9 draft beers?????? This is one seriously expensive and bougie "saloon" Draft beers in San Francisco and New York City cost less than $9.

Feels like a saloon the minute you enter the old fashion western saloon doors. Authentic country rock music, friendly awesome service. Great drink choices, well priced. We got one ginger beer and one hein zero for $8. Great bar - we came back twice during our stay in Austin!

When you're out and about in the ATX/Austin Texas scene. Swing by this amazing hidden gem!! Say HI to Brian or Matt behind the bar!! Absolutely the best personalities and they give this bar the notoriety hands down! Enjoy a cold beverage of your choice and you can even buy your favorite bartender a drink on their day off!! Let them know "tvguyrick" sent you!!! I might even buy you a shot or drink for visiting. Let me know about your visit!!??.. Enjoy the live music!!.. throw back a cold one or shot for me!!

While it has been a long time since I have been to the Continental club, it still felt truly Austin and very unpretentious. In the Continental Club you are literally I feet away from the live music. A dog was sleeping on stage, which made the place feel homey. The club is small and intimate, exuding a super personal persona. In addition, the sound quality is excellent for such a small venue. Tonight we listened to Hot Club Cowtown...they sounded folksy and a bit country western yet enjoyable to listen to. Folks were boot scooting, so maybe more country western. Being able to experience a performance like that at ACL, free of charge, felt special in a way that's hard to explain. As my baby used to say, it was COSMIC. Austin City Limits ran the event flawlessly. The staff was kind, organized, and they clearly knew what they were doing. Our seats were super high up, but the view of the stage below was very good. We missed part of the intimate opening set down below right in front of the VIP section (an intentional special treat for them), but it was easy to appreciate why special donors were treated to that moment up close. What really stood out was the second half of the show. Jon Batiste and his band turned the venue into a New Orleans style second line, moving through the crowd, singing/dancing/playing music, eventually making their way up to the upper levels by us. It was thoughtful, inclusive, and joyful. No one was left out of the experience. The night itself was bittersweet in hindsight, but the music and talent was undeniable. The memory stands on its own.
