I called this morning to get a quote for service to open a locked closet door. The technician quoted me $94 and said she would arrive within 65 minutes. I went to Lowes to buy a new doorknob to replace the old one, and the technician called me to say she was coming within 5 minutes. I was thrilled that she was coming earlier than expected, so I checked out at Lowes and went back home with my dog, Santapaws, excited that an expert would open our closet door. She arrived in a company car with the logo, which gave me more peace of mind. The whole process took only 15 minutes, but unfortunately, she wasn't able to open the door for me, and I was not charged. I appreciate the quick and expedited service, but I cannot give them a 5-star rating because the task wasn't accomplished. read more

Lying is never a good look. My car got locked while running with the key inside. The dispatcher said someone would be out in 6 minutes I thought that was amazing. What a lie it was 50 minutes. The person that came out apologized for them lying. It took one minute to open my car; $250!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dog had now been locked inside the car for an hour so I couldn't get someone else. I was never quoted. I found out when it was DONE. So expensive my insurance doesn't even want to reimburse it even I have full coverage. SHAME ON THEM!!! Wow! I will never use this service again. I should have asked for an estimate. The guy was 6 miles at 11 am on a Thursday and he charged $218 to retrieve my sons keys from his car. That is so ridiculous. He spent all of five minutes there. I was in Mobile, Al recently and one of my niece's kids locked the bathroom door and out required a key. Unfortunately her key was in her purse in the bathroom closet. She lives way out in the country and I called several companies before I found three that would come out. All three have me an approximate price of $115 Again I should have asked for an estimate but I was focused on getting someone to him as soon as possible. I also had read reviews that stated Pop A Lock's prices were "reasonable". $215 is nowhere near reasonable. In fact, it is outrageous. I belong to a car club and I will advise all our members to NEVER use Pop A LOCK! They are way too greedy. I could see a higher price if he had to travel a distance or if it was difficult to open but neither was the case. Okay - this was a great day with a hiccup (or two). Locked my keys in a rental car at Disney. After a great day with grandkids, I went to guest relations. For stupidity that doesn't need to be shared here, I locked myself out of my house and realized it only a few minutes after nearby locksmiths were closed for the day. Within an hour and change, the technician showed up and picked my front door lock in about 3 minutes without any damage to the lock or doorknob. Total cost for my stupidity was $75, but they stood by their quote and didn't try to tell me, like many emergency locksmiths will, that they'd have to drill it and charge me more money. The technician was quick, friendly, professional and showed up in a clearly marked Pop-a-lock vehicle. They even have a service where you can track their drive to your location. The customer service rep/dispatcher who took my initial call was a different story though - the type that your call to them is an inconvenience, and you can hear their disdain in every word they say. It was hard to understand her from some background noise and her fast talking - so I had to ask her to repeat herself, and my stupidity clearly annoyed her. Geez, I've already locked myself out of my house - don't kick a man while he's down! Luckily, the good ones here seem to work out in the field. The lock smith was very professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. He was thorough with his explanation and price estimate. HOWEVER, the female receptionist that gives estimates completely lacks professionalism. She COMPLETELY misinformed me about the price of the key that was required to start the engine of our car. she told me my 2007 Saab 9-7x key with a chip would be $100. I TRIPLE checked with her and she guaranteed me the price was correct and accurate. When the lock smith arrived, he informed us it was going to be $250.00. I called her back asking her to explain such a large in discrepancy in price considering that she pulled up my exact cars make a model when she gave me the estimate. She then proceeded to call me a liar and deny that she even had a conversation with me to that extent. I have no reason to lie and am disgusted by this poor customer service. She'll probably reply to this review with an inaccurate description of our conversation furthering the accuracy of my point; that's she's rude. it's so upsetting that such a professional lock smith has such an incompetent receptionist. If she would have said something along the lines of, "I'm sorry I misinformed you it was my mistake" I wouldn't have been so upset. Really bad service. When I first called, they told me that it would be abt 30 minutes. Then, when I called aftwr waiting 40 minutes, they told me that it would be another 15 minutes. Then, when I called after waiting 20 minutes, the dispatcher went to check for the technician. At this point, she hung upon me. I callee bacl and it rang 4 times with no answer. Had to call back 4-5 more times in for another dispatcher to answer the line. She told me that she could not get in touch with the technician. What started out as a crappy Monday morning, getting a flat tire on the way to work ended up with an exceptional customer service experience. I called my Subaru roadside assistance to have someone come and put my spare on. Within half an hour they sent pop a lock. The young man they sent was very pleasant and efficient. I used Pop-A-Lock twice in one week. The first time was to install deadbolts on my home. The second time was to install double bolt locks on my home's sliding glass doors. Each time I was lucky to have Rafael as my locksmith. He was professional, courteous and gave an estimate up front. He was also efficient and did great work!! Super fast and very professional! My car wouldn't start and I called in at 1240, he was there in less than 20 minutes and the whole orderal was over in less than 45, including the 15 minutes of running my car so that the battery would be charged. He was super nice and even told me the different auto parts stores in the area so i can get my battery checked and make sure that it has a full charge and does not need to be replaced. So through my own stupidity I locked my car key in the trunk. Thankfully I still had my purse and cell phone with me. After an initial panic, I realized I had roadside assistance through my car insurance so I called my insurance company for help. The way it works is that I contact my insurance, they put me in touch with the roadside assistance provider, and then that company finds a local company to help, which was Pop-A-Lock. The roadside assistance company asked for my address and I said I had no idea. I was in the Epcot parking lot at Walt Disney World. At the time, I was feeling panicky and didn't think to look it up on my iPhone, but I figured everyone knows Epcot. At 2:56, I received an estimate that the locksmith would arrive at 3:36. I had asked the agent from the roadside assistance company to have the locksmith call me so I could give him my exact location within the Epcot parking lot. But I never received a call, so I called Pop-A-Lock directly. I told the person I spoke with that my insurance company had arranged service for me and that I was stuck at Epcot. She told me someone was on the way and she would have him call me when he was close. At 3:49 (13 minutes past the ETA), I finally received a call from a guy asking where I am. I said I'm in the Journey lot at Epcot, row 6. He says, well I got the wrong address because I'm in Celebration. Sorry, can't do anything. You'll have to request service all over again. Not friendly at all and unwilling to help me. I get that it may be company policy, but he could at least sound sympathetic. Also, I don't understand why the agent I spoke to was able to confirm that someone was on the way to Epcot, if they had the address listed incorrectly. Anyway, I called Pop-A-Lock first, hoping they could just reroute the guy. This agent was a bit nicer and even though she couldn't help me, she did look up the Epcot address for me so I could make sure that the roadside assistance company got it right this time. I started the process all over again and this time I received an estimate at 4:11 with a 4:51 ETA. Arrrgh! I wish I had just taken a friend up on the offer to drive me home for my spare key. At 4:35 I got a call from the new locksmith. I can't remember his name, but I'm going to call him Joseph. He told me he was running late because he was the only one on duty since the other guy was in a car accident. (I have no idea if it's the same guy I talked to earlier or someone else.) He had another person in front of me, but it was a flat tire on a small car so it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes and then I was next. I was really frustrated at this point, which I think Joseph could tell, and I appreciated that he made me feel like he cared. Even though he was going to be late, I appreciated getting the call and update from him, and I felt like he was doing everything he could to help me. When he finally showed up, actually getting my key back was quick and painless. Joseph was very professional and I was pleased with our interaction. If I only had to deal with Joseph then I would give Pop-A-Lock a 5. But with the whole ordeal and how long it took and my interactions with the other employees, that's why I'm rating them a 3. I would try using them again, but now I know to confirm everything. read more
