Great service. I know many people are use to the concierge service that most lock smiths have today, but I loved being able to go into a physical location and get great service at an excellent price. I paid $65 at Dave's for what those other guys wanted $390-$450 to do. Forgive me but service charge I should only be charged if it is necessary. The device I needed didn't require someone coming to me but other locksmith's had to include "service charges" because they are mobile (no physical address for the client to come to them). My husband and I bought a used Honda CR-V for his sister that only came with one ignition key and remote, and we really wanted to get a spare key for her. We were referred to Dave by the Ace Hardware on Edgewater Drive as that Ace Hardware didn't have a laser cutter nor the ability to program the chip in the key. Dave was not only able to make the key, he also lubricated the locks on the car as he personally checked each lock to make sure the key would work in each one, and advised us to lubricate them every 6 months or so to keep them in good condition. I have used this company for many, many years. They have done fine work but the caveat has always been his superior, "making you feel stupid" attitude. You can forget it if you have an emergency.... you need to call someone else. However, they will come out when they promise you even if it is several days later. Dave, you are right that I haven't used you in over a year and it is because your attitude toward your customers has changed. And anyone who can read can see that the bullying is being done by you. If you want to be patronized and told to shut up and listen, give Dave a call. My mom has done business with him for 20 years and on a simple rekeying he won't even stand behind his work. Saying it is probably the malfunctioning on our end, without even understanding what is happening because he is too pompous to listen to anyone speak who is not a credible locksmith. He advised me to open the door and turn the lock-ok. It turns fine, then I go to unlock it and it is sticking...so I use the new key they had given me and it jams but then turns the lock after having to go FULL THREE CYCLES AROUND. That is super weird to me, I've never seen a lock turn this many times, but I close the door and he tells me to lock the door again while inside. I get LOCKED IN MY HOUSE!!! No way to get out...I have to work soon, so does my boyfriend. And Dave...what does he do? Patronize some more and won't even come out to get us out...we have the only two keys in existence for this place, inside with us and we have to climb from the second story out the window to get ourselves out. Well...the key when turning did the three full cycles again and jammed, it took us 15 minutes to finally unlock the door. What a horrible afternoon and a horrible confrontation with this man. I wish he would have at least had me send a video or come to actually look with his own eyes before acting like such a know it all. Thanks for all your help and I hope you enjoy the $77 you made off of me for absolutely nothing since I had to replace everything all over again. Dave's deserves the 5 star rating. An old time service store, small, and simple - just locks and keys. Dave cut two keys and programmed them both for my Jeep Liberty. He did it at the best price in town, and in fact was suggested by other local locksmiths as the guy to go to for the job. When the fob I had purchased on Ebay failed to unlock the car, he took care of me when I returned with a replacement. I highly recommend Dave and his little College Park shop. read more

This is a customer service review rather than services since I did not get a response until 2 days later. In this circumstance I would not leave a review. Here I let the owner that the response was rather late and services were completed by another provider. In addition, I suggested that it be made clear that after hours services were not available. In response it seems the owner wants a back and forth stating that the hrs are clear on YELP. This is true and it should be noted the 4 other business had the same response. The difference is that 2 businesses said (the same day) that they don't offer those services. Another suggested an alternative referral. The other accepted the feedback to possibly make the service times and scope more clear. This was the only one that wanted to engage in an argumentative back and forth. I can't rate the service so I won't say 1 star but customer service and communication gets them 2 stars especially since it's the owner responding. Just saw the owner's, THE OWNER's response. It's 2018 and I'm certain you have a computer, laptop, smartphone....right since you're advertising on a web based application. Right? Sir my understanding is clear however as a business owner you control how recommendations are made through and apps like YELP sand others. Rather resorting to insulting the messenger, make a meaningful effort to address the issue otherwise anything else sounds like an excuse. I heard of Dave's through Yelp. Not being an Orlando native it can be hard to know who to trust when it comes to home services. Yelp led, yet again, to a great business. I read all the great reviews and decided to email Dave about my particular lock problem. I was ready to have someone come out to my house if needed so I could get back into my shed with a stuck latch. Dave himself responded in a timely manner to my questions regarding whether I needed a locksmith and how I could get back into my old shed. He gave me tips, that I had already tried, but reassured me that it just needed lots of WD-40 and some wiggling. More wiggling. And a few days of patience and more wiggling it opened up. Dave was really helpful. While I was there 3 people came in and had keys made. He is able to handle all sorts of home and auto keys. I had a slightly more complex problem. Five for work Great reliable fast, good price good vibe. Three because - Problem was another company I had called, tried to present themselves as Dave's.... Dave knows scam companies are out there trying to scoop his business and didn't warn me in any way when we talked. I was almost scammed by another service i called, Orlando lock solutions, claiming to be Dave's when they called me back then showed up the day of the appointment. If Dave's tech had been twenty min later, or the other had been done faster, not sure what might have come of it. Dave's response when we called to recommend he warn on site customers, to verify it is his tech in some way on arrival, was less than satisfactory. Three stars because He knows they are doing this and "can't stop them". He should warn his customers when an appointment is made. Four all together. read more

Knowledgeable, Responsive, Reasonable... We have nice Baldwin hardware on our front door. Replacement cost at Home Depot Expo is over $400. A locksmith referred by our roofer came to fix our front door when the opening lever no longer worked. Charged $100, said it could not be fixed but to get a new set. Then I called Dave's Lock & Key and got great information as follows: Baldwin hardware has a lifetime warranty and they will send a replacement. I called Baldwin and spoke with Edward there. They sent the replacement. Received the replacement set in 5 days. I then called Dave's this morning and Mark came out within two hours and replaced the lock for $87 which I thought was very fair. read more
