I paid All AMerican $150 to install a brand new lock. owner told me he cant program lock because I didn't have batteries I presented him with batteries. I assumed he programmed the lock I wrote him a check and notice the battery cover was still off he said I didn't program the lock but it works and its easy to do just a few steps. I was busy on a phone call and figured I could program it later. Couple hours I tried to program lock no luck, I call manufacture and they walked me thru it turns out lock is defective they will send me another takes a week. I called All American explained the situation and he wants me to pay another $150. How do I even know if the lock is installed correctly needless to say I wont ever call All American again . read more

My elderly parents contacted All American Locksmith as they were having trouble with a doorhandle and lock on one of their doors. They requested new locks on all their doors and to fix that one door handle and lock that was causing them trouble. I was not present during the work my parents had requested the job and paid for it on their own. After examination of one of the deadbolts that had been replaced the cylinder did not turn all the way into the frame to lock it. The hole was not deep/wide enough for it to fit so the lock only turned partially into the frame. They were also still having trouble with the same handle they asked to be fixed. After calling them back out they explained to me if the deadbolt turns partially into the frame it was good enough no one could break in as long as it turned partially into the frame. He also stated that since he was just replacing the deadbolt he was not responsible for making sure it fit into the frame all the way all he was there to do was change the lock. He also blamed the handle problem on the weather stripping that had always been there. He said he couldn't fix anything any more than he did and left. Please be cautious. I know for a fact if the cylinder does not lock into the frame it can be slid over and unlocked from the outside. It's a shame they paid so much for this service. He even talked them into more expensive locks than they needed. Thankfully I had the tools to hollow out the frame to allow the cylinder to slide completely in to secure their home. I'm still dealing with the handle that gets stuck that they can't open on occasion. I guess I can be thankful the other door locks were installed properly. read more

Great reviews there, too.They were running a special for 5 home door locks re-keyed for $109. Great deal and one less thing for me to worry about after buying my house. I paid via Angie's List for the deal and set up the appointment time. I had just purchased my home and thankfully Yani was very flexible with his scheduling. He was able to come out on a Saturday for no extra charge. He was on time, friendly, and tidy about his work. I showed him all the locks and followed his advice to change out a few that had no keys or were damaged internally. The nice work van for AAL thankfully had additional knobs, locks, and colors to choose from so he could just add it on easily to my job. So convenient. After I briefly showed him around he worked quickly, neatly, and quietly on his own. No mess left when he was done and no unnecessary banging around. He was done in no time and I wrote a check for the extra knobs. In the end, all the crazy doors at my house are now all on one key! He gave me two key copies for myself and my husband. Let's start with, today is a holiday so finding a tradesman that is answering the phone is near to impossible. I called just before 9am and Yaniv immediately answered. He was here within 30 minutes and started right away. Since I just bought this house I didn't have keys to most of the locks. Yaniv was able to rekey three entry door handles, rekey two deadbolts and change a deadbolt in less than an hour! Oh and the price wasn't inflated because of it being a holiday. Yaniv let me know the price before he came out. When he got here there were a couple issues but he let me know the exact cost before the job started. Yani quoted a rate on the phone and I told him I would provide the lock for him to install and I gave him the address. On arrival, he commented on how far my home was and when he saw the lock I wanted him to install, he said he had to charge me extra over what he quoted because of the brand of the lock and that I should have told him what the lock brand was over the phone - something he never asked me on the phone but insisted that I should have known to tell him. Ok, so I agreed to the price increase. He then installed the lock fairly quickly, and said if he had known what lock brand it was, he would never have agreed to come and do the job and that no other locksmith would. read more

He was professional, courteous, and answered all of my questions. So I scheduled him to come out to re-key my house. Once he arrived I asked whether I could change the game plan and replace all of he locks instead of simply re-keying them. Yani explained that this was not an issue and provided me with a very reasonable quote. He replaced four locks, keyed them all the same and provided four keys. His work was professional and quick. I have been in my house for less than one year. I chose All American Locksmith because of the affordable prices, however, I wish I had paid more for better quality. Within the first two months I had a deadbolt put into my front door and all of the house locks changed. Unfortunately, the deadbolt is not quite right. The hole in the frame was cut so that the door does not fully shut in order to lock it. This means, when closing my door, I have to get it closed ever so slightly to lock it, instead of shutting it tight - it has to be annoyingly "just right." If you don't find the spot the first time, you have to open the door and try again... not that big a deal, until you have to do it everyday or when you're late. About two months later, my doorknob broke. Not one he installed, an old one - so no trouble there! I was not at home when he installed the new one, my husband was, and unfortunately he wasn't looking over his shoulder the whole time to check which kind of lock and doorknob we were getting. Even if I were at home I wouldn't be looking over his shoulder, because I would have expected to get a standard lock, just like the rest of the ones he installed into my house earlier! Instead he used a lock that you press from the inside to lock, like a bedroom door normally has. You can't lock it from the outside! I have now been locked out of my house several times because it has accidentally been pressed when I didn't want it to be. PLUS it is incredibly finicky... sometimes it works, but most of the times it gets stuck and you're standing there wiggling and jiggling the door knob until it finally pops. NOW FOR THE BIG PROBLEM. Because you lock the door from the inside, close the door, then lock the deadbolt, it is even harder to get them to coincide. So now, if you don't shut the door at that "just right" spot, you have to unlock the knob (usually trying 2 or 3 times because it's sticky and temperamental) to open the door, and try again to find that spot. I had him come back the next day to check it out and unfortunately at that time I didn't understand the true problem. So when he tried locking the deadbolt it worked, and when he tried locking the knob it worked, but didn't try them together. Then he stood there staring at me like I was crazy and wasting his time. He did not try to lock them at the same time, which is the main problem. Now I just feel stupid for calling after all this time. Plus, I don't want to pay for another doorknob! So, now we just don't use a doorknob and lock that we paid for because it is so annoying and temperamental!
