How do you guys stay in business when you don't even respond to potential customer's inquiry about fixing a crack in my pond, or even offer to come out to give me a quote? You just looked at the picture I sent and you determined that "flexseal" would fix the crack in my cement? Every professional I know would open the crack with a chisel or cement cutter then apply a cement patch. Wow and I thought you guys were a 5 star rated on Yelp. Great people, honest and willing to work with you. We had them do a remodel on our pool replacing old fiberglass with new tile and Gemstone Sapphire. I researched many pool companies in town for about six months and decided to go with Poolscape Unlimited because they had the best reputation from everyone I spoke with in the pool industry. Yes they were one of the most expensive quotes but I had a gut feeling they would do it right. You can tell this company is very busy because their scheduling was a bit chaotic and they seemed overwhelmed with work. Good news is they made our small pool a priority and fit us in. Midway through we decided not to keep our old brick coping and switched it to pavers which each had to be custom cut to fit the tight radius of our pool. This was probably the most difficult decision of the entire process. They worked with us to get it done and I'm so glad we did. John and the plaster crew were awesome. Talk about a well run machine. His crew deserves lunch wink wink. Unfortunately the acid wash in our spa didn't turn out as good as the pool so whiteout hesitation Kirk came and completely rep plastered or spa. John Morgan and his crew plastered our pool and did a great job. They showed up early and spent a lot of time prepping the area with plastic to keep any of the tile and coping from getting overspray on it. The crew was almost done when I noticed that a hole we created for an umbrella was covered up. It's not their fault it got covered up. My project manager should have mentioned it to them. When I brought it up to John, he immediately asked the crew to look into it and they found it. Once they found it they re-drilled the hole, inserted a plastic cylinder, and patched the area around it so that you can't even notice they drilled there. The crew was very quick, efficient, and professional with their clean up. In addition, they get along very well as a crew and enjoy working together based on their camaraderie, which reflects in their work. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing plaster work done and will definitely keep them in mind for any future work. read more

I have used Kirk from Poolscape Unlimited on two separate jobs. I was very pleased with both jobs. I referred Kirk to a very picky, hard to please neighbor. That neighbor got back to me and was very impressed with Kirk's work and commented on all the contractors they've had out to their home, not only was Kirk's work top notch, but daily hiscrews cleaned their mess and left the yard as it was when they started. Not an easy task when doing a pool resurface with all the demolition involved. I had five different contractors bid resurfacing my pool, fiberglass; plaster, hydrozone, pebble-tec, gemstone etc. Kirk was the only 'owner' who bid our job. The rest were salemen driving the largest and nicest of SUV's Suburban's and Expeditions. Kirk comes over in his little economy car. Kirk has his samples with him and his hands are rough from working. Kirk still gets in the pool on his jobs. Kirk assured me if somebody beat his bid they were cutting costs somewhere else. Out of five contractors, Kirk's bid was significantly less expensive. Kirk Gemstoned our pool and we could not be happier with the new surface. These guys are top notch. We had them come and replaster our pool with the gemstone finish, all new tiles, new pump, and the Go-Chemless system. The work they did was really impressive and fast. These guys are really good at what they do. Kirk was really honest about what to expect, the prices were fair, and all was done on time. They only down side was that they are a little too lax for me on their communication and scheduling. It seemed like I had to do all the calling to find out when the next step would be complete. He and his daughter Jayme Dykes came out to bid as we needed to replaster the pool. We felt no pressure (which was refreshing) and their price was fair. They came out on time, dug out rusted rebar and refilled. They kept the work area clean and safe and finished as promised. They did an amazing job and the pool looks spectacular. Really beautiful with rich color and sparkle with clean tile work. Two years after the job was completed an issue came up. I contacted them and was surprised to find that his work ethic and accountability were as I had initially guessed. I wanted to apologize for your bad experience with Kirk (my dad) in your initial estimate experience. Please understand that he's under an extreme amount of stress, he physically works out in the field 6 days a week right along side of his employees and it's just the two of us trying to keep up with the huge demand of people calling for estimates. I'd hate for you to judge us based on a bad day he might have been having, as I know he is overwhelmed. He and I both take the reputation of our company very seriously, we have been in business almost 40 years based solely on referral and I don't know anyone with more integrity and dedication to his business. If there is anything I can do to improve your experience I would be glad to, I can find and send your estimate (I'm almost positive he didn't just blow you off, it just didn't get to you for some reason or another) and although we may not be the company for you I would be happy to refer you to some other great local contractors This was the response I received back from poolscape unlimited regarding my Yelp review. It was the attention to detail by Jayme Chapman Dykes that closed the deal for us. Poolscape Unlimited wasn't the lowest bid, but they were the most professional and confident. Jayme picked out the perfect pebble bottom for our pool and she kept her word on the completion date and also went above and beyond to repair a few flagstone tiles that were previously broken. Kirk Chapman and his crew did a complete redo of our Carmel Valley pool last fall; demolished it all and installed new coping, tile and plaster along with a new Baja shelf. We went with one of Kirk's custom pebble-tec-like finishes, Bahamas Jewel Gemstone and it's absolutely killer. I would point out that the ONLY non-5-star reviews for Poolscape are from people who did not have any work done by them (clearly in at least one case you can deduce that was Kirk's choice and for obvious reasons). Kirk is an honest, professional, no BS kind of guy. With respect to communication, my experience was that Kirk was extremely responsive to phone calls, texts and emails from start to finish; I'm not sure I've ever worked with a contractor as responsive. He was personally onsite at least once every day, and with sleeves rolled up during most of the tiling and all of the plastering (when he runs the show), and when he's not there his crew is excellent. Bottom line, like everyone else who has actually hired them, we couldn't be happier with our pool or with Poolscape. read more

I hired them to resurface my deteriorating plaster pool & spa. Joe came by and gave me an estimate which was very reasonable and cheaper than some of the others I got. He is very knowledgeable and at no point tried to oversell me on anything. Very honest and direct. Signed the contract with them and Gwen who manages the contracts and schedules worked with me on my schedule and even pulled up the schedule when their schedule opened up. Draining and demolition was right on schedule and my resurface happened a week after. John and crew came early in the morning and was finished by noon. He and his crew did a great job and made sure I was completely satisfied. They cleaned up after they were done and Joe and his son followed up on chemical balancing and bringing it to the right color. Even the owner Kirk came by one day and checked in on the work and talked to me. I am very happy with my pool and I would highly recommend these guys to anyone who needs work done on their pool. Highly recommend Poolscape Unlimited for pool resurfacing or repairs. I had a 32 year old pool with cracks in the plaster. I spoke with two other companies before choosing Poolscape Unlimited to do the work based on both the quality of their plan and the attractive price. Resurfacing a pool is a messy job but they took excellent steps to keep the dust down and did a thorough cleanup each day. They do not subcontract any of the work and their employees are very well trained and "customer service oriented". Everything was completed on schedule and the final result exceeded our expectations. We now have a "brand new pool". This is a family owned Company who have been in business for decades and are proud of their work and reputation. You will be dealing with the owners of the Company (Jayme or Kirk) when you ask for a consultation or estimate. Having read the reviews on here regarding Poolscape Unlimited, I asked them to come out and give me a bid on a pool remodel. I had several people come out and Kirk was friendly and portrayed himself as the pebble surface expert. I was initially impressed and was thinking I would use him to complete the project, but I had a few questions in my mind before I contracted with him. I had also done some research on pebble pool surfaces and wanted to know why his own "blend" was better than the other guys. He had recommended a sheer descent water feature which I had not thought of and after some consideration I decided that I would like to have a couple water features spaced apart across the edge of the deck. He said that it would depend on the pump I had and that I may want to think about adding a variable speed pump for the pool. Another good idea. I asked him which pump he would recommend and after doing some research on it, I asked him why he prefers that one since it seemed that it had some issues with water getting into the housing. I also wanted to see if there was any room to move in his quote since now we were adding features and it was getting close to the top of my budget. He gave me a $700 discount off of a $15000 project total which I appreciated. He asked me to come to his office to see his operation and to pick out tiles. While at his office, we discussed his electrician coming to my house to check the pump and to see if we could use it for the water features. He was to come out the following Monday morning. Monday morning comes around and his guy never shows. No one called or rescheduled. I sent Kirk an email asking if his electrician was still coming and he replied that, "I've been doing a little soul searching and I want to back out of the pool project. After compromising on my price I feel my heart will not be in it appropriately. .... My work load has piled up since we first started negotiating all with out compromising my pricing. I do apologize I feel it's more my fault for letting my ego get in the way of my better senses. Best regards Kirk Apparently Kirk is not used to having people ask for a discount or having to answer questions about his recommendations. Maybe I just asked too many questions or my project wasn't big enough to suit him. I received three quotes on my pool remodel. All quotes were close to the same, for what I requested. I went with Poolscape Unlimited, because Kirk owns the company, they do all the work and doesn't subcontract the work out. My pool is 17 years old, the tiles were starting to fall off and the plaster was yellowing. I also had the flagstone, which was disintegrating over time. I told Kirk what I wanted and met with him at his office to pick up samples. I decided to add the water auto fill and the LED lighting. During the project, I decided to upgrade the Gemstone to the Designer series (Sapphire), before the interior was started, which Kirk was happy to add. I'm so glad that I made this choice! I never had to call Kirk because of a problem. They came out when they said they would. They worked with the paver company (Pavers4Less) that I contracted with for the pool deck, so I didnt have to contact the paver company to coordinate the job as they work very well together! My pool is absolutely beautiful. They take the time to put in the small details, like the drain at the bottom of the pool and spa, they are black with the gemstone on top of the cover. The step corners and spa corners were very detailed and beautiful! The coping is maticulate, they cut each paver to perfection to go around the pool (see the pictures! You can see the detail put into the pool) My pool is amazing and so is Kirk and his team. I cant say enough good things about Poolscape Unlimited, Inc. and highly recommend them! This review is solely based on follow up. Kirk came out four days ago for an estimate on a pool reseal and new tile. He was helpful to advise on how to care for our pool and said he would get us a quote by email. The next morning at 6:30 AM I received a prompt text asking for an email address then a follow up text that he had found our email. Four days later I have not received an estimate, response to my text for follow up either. I left a voicemail a day ago to check in and haven't heard back. This was disappointing as he was very nice in our initial meeting and seemed to care about the job. Good work but don't expect any service if something goes wrong! Poolscape Unlimited resurfaced our pool. We went with a complete tear off and resurface to insure any and all cracks were repaired correctly. The pool is beautiful. The sanitizer system never was initialized; noone from Poolscape Unlimited was interested in rectifying that situation. Six months after resurfacing, the pool began to leak. Without making contact with us to let us know it was scheduled, a bucket test was done to find out whether or not the loss of water was simply evaporation. No one got back to us about the results of the test. An additional six months later with the leak becoming more and more prevalent, we contacted Poolscape Unlimited again but no one ever returned our calls or e-mails. Regardless of whether or not the leak would be under warranty, no service, no contact, no remedy. If you want a small company to do your work -- they do really good work as long as you want what they provide and don't ever expect any one from the company to ever contact you if you need help after the work is done. read more

Our review might be a little different than the others in that we have a 20 year relationship with Poolscape! We put our pool in 20 years ago and make the decision to go with Poolscape and the gemstone finish and we are so glad that we did for several reasons: 1. Think about it...how many companies are still around after 20 years if you need something? It's a great relief knowing that we can use the same company that originally installed the finish and they are still in business. That says a lot about Kirk, the President of the company. 2. The gemstone finish has held up perfectly over these years and we have not had to pay the costly expenses of re-plastering the pool because we went with the gemstone finish. 3. I would highly recommend Poolscape Unlimited if you are thinking about resurfacing your pool. I dealt directly with Kirk (the owner) from the get go. He was the one who came to our house and gave us the estimate. I contacted 5 other local companies to compare. Poolscape's estimate came in right in the middle. We chose to go with them because of the responsiveness and expertise offered by Kirk. The demolition started on the day scheduled and everything proceeded on schedule as stated in the contract. Against Kirk's recommendation, we opted to have glass tile set on the pool line and spa. We were concerned because the original company who installed our pool (Padre Pools) did a horrible job installing the glass tile. However, Kirk assured us that his guys knew what they were doing and he was 100% right. Kirk took the time to work with us on restructuring our steps into the pool and met with us on his day off to choose the right pebble surface that worked for our pool. The project finished on the exact date stated in the contract without any delays. Every person who worked on the pool was professional, pleasant, efficient, and neat. At over 30 years old, our pool was in need of some renovation. When interviewed and received estimates from 4 vendors and chose Poolscapes Unlimited. We replaced the coping and tile, replastered with their pebble surface, added a baja bench, a new slide and replaced the diving board. From Jayme providing the initial estimate and recommendations, to Mark Baxter checking in to make sure we were satisfied and answer any questions, followed by the crews :Jeff, Luis, Mario, Benny, and Joe Morgan. They were all really, really good hard working crews that worked well together and knew what they were doing. As you know rained played havoc in March and April, but they were very accommodating. When I changed my mind and replaced my decking, they adjusted their schedule without a hitch. The workmanship is superb, the results are what we hoped for. The change in coping was a challenge with changing from end-to-end bullnose brick to 1' by 2' travertine. Look beautiful, a tribute to the tile crew. Gwen adjusted our schedule based on the rain and the status of the decking. Joe Morgan came out with his crew and put on a show! My pool is 20x40 with the shallow section actually 24' wide. They showed up early and went to work. A NASCAR pit crew in action. By 1PM the pool was finished, the site cleaned, and the crew gone. Wow! We should start filling tomorrow. I contacted this company in mid July and requested a bid for a pool remodel. Made an appt for Joe to come out and discuss options and give me a bid. Didn't hear back from Joe for 2 weeks, he said he would email me the bid. I phoned him and he said oh yea, let me get that to you. Still no email. Phoned again and left message. Still no email bid. Called the office this week, talked to two people. Second guy said....I will look into this and send you the bid. Still no email bid. Not the kind of company I want to do business with or spend my hard earned money with. I got a total of 8 bids for our pool remodel....this is the only company that didn't give me a bid. Their loss. We called Poolscape Unlimited 5 weeks ago and scheduled a date for an estimate. Mark was the gentleman we were working with. The date for the estimate was set a week out. When the date came, Mark was a no show. Several days went by with no call of apology or to reschedule, not a word. I followed up the next week and was told Mark got busy and couldn't come and would reschedule. After playing phone tag for a week I was finally able to speak with Mark again. We reschedule the site visit a week out on a Thursday and Mark showed up as agreed. After taking measurements and some small-talk Mark told me we would receive the estimate on Monday. As of writing this review we have never received anything from Mark or Poolscape. I guess we just aren't important enough to be considered, sad! If things went this bad in the estimating process I can just imagine how bad it would be once they tore-up our pool. Since calling Poolscape we have contacted some other pool remodeling companies who actually showed up and provided us with a quote on the spot. We are sad to write this review, and hope Poolscape will review their front man Mark and make some much needed changes. After all, we assume they are in business to make money, however we are not really sure. read more
