I really dislike to leave a bad review for a business, especially one that I have been using for over 10 years. We have been faithful customers of this store since around 2010. They have changed our pool over to salt water, they have replaced my pool heater, multiple pool filters and we bring them water to test and buy all of our chemicals from there.
This store used to be called "Discount Pool Supplies" then sometime in the last year or 2 Lamar bought the store and changed it to "Pool Supplies +"
We have a screened in pool and patio on a zero lot line. I inquired about something to do with my patio as we had it painted a few years back and it is chipping horribly. Lamar recommended SGM Spray deck system. He gave me a sample sales card thing from the manufacture. The product was supposed to last at LEAST 2 years before needing a touch up, but was not supposed to chip. The sample card for SGM had a texture to it which is perfect for a pool. The price was $3180. As a reference we only paid $500 several years ago for pressure wash and painting (which wound up chipping) so this is a bigger expense, but its a "Pool spray deck system"
The ball fell from that moment on. We had to bring all our stuff from the patio into our dining room. Multiple times he was supposed to come and no one came. To the point that 4th of July the guy shows up to pressure clean our pool!! No BBQ with family and friends because BBQ is in house.
Then 2 days later he sends people who started to paint. They did not show up until 1pm. In which case it started to rain and all the paint washed into the newly refinished pool.
Finally once all the work is said and done we had our new patio furniture delivered, put our plants outside, ordered a waterfall and started enjoying our backyard area. About 2-3 weekends after the pool deck is done someone fell on the patio due to the patio being slippery. There is NO texture, and it is slippery. Lamar is going to send someone to put on a clear topcoat, but now it needs to be pressure cleaned again because it almost a month by the time this is happening and you can not put clear on top of dirt. During the pressure cleaning and while we were putting all our contents back into the house it is chipping and peeling!! Our brand new $3180 spray deck is chipping. Lamar says the clear top coat will fix this. Then the guys show up at 9am the next day to put a clear with some sand or grit in it and they show up with clear WOOD DECK stain. You cant use that on a concrete patio, so away they go. Instead of coming right back with correct product to finish, they show up several hours later, around 3pm. They started putting a clear cement coat with grit on top and it started raining. This left white milky residue in the little holes / grooves of the patio. So now we have a grey patio with white specks.
My husband makes a trip to the SGM main location in Pompano Beach. Turns out this is supposed to be a 2 part process and the initial part of the spray deck is a different product in a hopper, then gone over with a trowel was not done! Lamar only put the 2nd part of the system, which is the paint part of it.
Now I am upset as clearly we paid for one thing, and we got a paint job which we did not want because thats what we had that chipped. We had to go back and forth for a few texts because Lamar did not want to refund me. I had to say "Lamar, I paid for a Spray deck system" not a paint job. I would have never paid that much, nor did I want a paint job.
We are also now left in a position according to SGM that the only way to truly fix what has been done is to have the entire surface sandblasted to remove what they did and start over
Lamar finally agreed and refunded us the money, but due to the aggravation, and deceit for taking my money for one thing and doing something else is unethical. I will never shop there again. read more
