This company has issues. We agreed to a pool repair job, they never followed through. We were left stranded with no idea what was going on. And was left with a completely empty pool as they instructed, which is not wise due to the potential damage it could cause. We had to chase them down to find out our job status. When we did speak to someone, he was rude and could not give us a direct answer as to when the work would resume. Actually, told us to reverse what they instructed us to do to prep for the work they were going to do. Not trustworthy at all. I take care of my own pool and I have been coming to Swim 'n Fun for years. They are full service and will maintain your pool if you want service. I get my pool water tested, they tell me what I need and it always looks except when I get lazy, but this is also where they shine. I never have a problem getting my pool sparkling blue again within a day or two. I have bought accessories several times and they are knowledgeable and very reasonably priced with everything from small pieces to pumps, tanks, fresh and salt water pool accessories and equipment. I spent an hour yesterday talking with the owner, Mike about family and various topics, super nice and the business is very family oriented. I actually look forward to my weekly pool store visits. We used to be a client of several years. The quality of work has dramatically decreased over the years. some weeks the staff member wouldn't show up and other times there wasn't enough chemicals. So unprofessional and also they are robbing people because I went to buy 4 bleach containers and they had no bleach what they had was Water in them!! Went to the place and the guy there was so rude I've been going to this place for 2 years never had an issue with the other manager and employees I guess the new managers don't care they just want to take peoples money how can u put water in the containers that they sell for $35 each unbelievable! I wanted to send out a huge warning message to all my neighbors looking for recommendations for spa repair or pool work and supplies. I strongly advise everyone NOT TO USE SWIM AND FUN on 10th Avenue as a vendor. Both Mike and John have been dishonest and unreputable in my dealings with them. John (Tech) came for less than 5 minutes to look at my spa and took a $110 deposit, saying that the $110 would be applied to the work that needed done to do the repair. John called almost a week later and said I needed a motor, and one piece panel board and heater. His estimate for the job was $850 to replace parts needed and do repair. I asked John what portion of that quote was the motor and he replied motor was $350 of the $850 that he quoted. I told him that since he was here, I was told and shown by a friend that the motor was just fine as my friend hot wired it to show me it was working and had no issue so motor should not need replaced as part of the fix. John agreed that if I had someone else look who showed me that the motor was working just fine, it did not need replaced at this time. I guess they were going to put a new motor in anyway! Although this most certainly caused alarm for me, I already had $110 in the game. We agreed at that point he would take the $350 off the $850 original quote, for the motor that did not need replaced, and so the new quote would be $500 for the one piece board and heater less the $110 deposit previously paid or $390 plus tax which would be due at repair. John asked if he could stop by and see the motor and I said of course. He never did stop over. When I did not get any return calls I called again and left several messages. Finally I was told by Mike the owner that it was John's day off and they would not do the repair as there was "no money in it." I then asked for a refund of my deposit of $110 and he of course refused to give me my money saying that his guy did a service call! A few minutes later, I got a call from the tech John personally stating that it was in fact his day off and that he was calling from the Doctors office. He said there must have been a misunderstanding with me and the owner Michael but that he (John) was a man of his word and that he would honor his word and if I ordered the part myself (as a matter of fact,he gave me the part # to order, for some reason he did not want to order it himself) and called him when it arrived, he would install the part for the $110 that was paid to Swim and Fun as a deposit. I ordered the part and about a week later when it came in, I started to call the shop again. I left three or four messages and finally the owner Mike called back and insisted that John never said any of this to me and that I needed to take my business some place else and he will keep the $110 as a diagnostic charge. When I tried to explain to him that John himself had called me personally to agree to install the part for the $110 I had already paid, he became very flippant and said go some where else. Although they do not sell bait, I am thinking they should adjust the name of their business to include the words "BAIT AND SWITCH"! The owner here is just awful and it seems like the tech is not much better about telling lies and making unfulfilled agreements. I can not believe that people with this extreme lack of ethic are operating businesses in our neighborhoods. They should not think that they can screw our neighbors without any repercussions. Extremely disappointed in almost every aspect of this business. It would be much quicker and easier to simply tell you what I like about this business (not much) than what I don't like. Things I don't like are their lack of knowledge about the products they sell, their incompetent and flawed installations and their condescending attitudes. On numerous occasions, due to their lack of knowledge and misrepresentation of products, I've been forced to contact the manufactures, distributes or the product representatives in order to get useful and accurate information about products I've purchased from Swim N Fun. . In my opinion, the business had steadily gone down hill... Leave a bad review and be prepared to pay for it!!! Been there, experienced that.... Stay AWAY from this one - they will turn your pool green - never fix it and continually send you bills. I switched pool companies - the new company said the chemicals were not correct - no kidding. Bent on revenge, they continue to send bills (since April, 2015) for $37.50. I doesn't matter how much I was inconvenienced and had no pool for weeks. RUN as fast as you can from this one!!! read more
