Per their request I provided a video of the issue with my spa. Their service tech came out, asked to add some water to the spa, said that they wouldnt fix the seal in the motor. They'd rather just replace the motor. Then also stated that replacing the motor would take 3 hours. They contacted me repeatedly about the estimate and said that it always goes to everyone's spa folder. Still couldn't locate it. Asked them to send it in the previous email they had corresponded with me through. Finally after several weeks I got the quote. So I compared their quote and realized the motor was 1/3 the price they quoted. Quoted 3 hours of work. Won't be using them. read more

This company is terrible with communication and overpriced. Purchased our house last year with a pool. They charge without any level of detail and never follow up. We would have something scheduled, they tell us a date/time with no shows, they change the time with no communication. I call in and they give me some excuse of an emergency, which is fine if they just told me. We have to chase them for everything and they are overpriced. I would not recommend this company at all. People are very nice when I speak to them, I just can't handle the bad communication anymore. I would stay away. read more

When I went to refill a hot tub (after less than 2 years) that had been empty and winterized, I discovered a huge mess with stagnant water, mold and slugs in the bottom and seats. The tub had clearly not been drained completely. (The tub cover had remained on during the period of winterization so no outside water would collect inside.) I had to remove the remaining dirty water in the tub, and scrub down the tub with Clorox that had black stains from the long-standing mold. The filter was left in part of the tub and was mostly blackened from mold. (Even soaking it in filter cleaner did not clean it completely). Once the inside of the tub was cleaned, I filed the tub with water and ran the jets, but the water was unclean (hazy) and full of debris from the pipes. I used a pipe sanitizer (Jet Blast supplied by Pool Doctor), ran the jets again per cleaner instructions, then had to drain the newly filled tub since the water was still contaminated from the pipes, and the water was unclear. Finally, I hand-cleaned the drained the tub AGAIN with Clorox, and then refilled the tub. The water was finally clean and clear. I had always used Pool Doctor for my hot tub purchase, supplies, service and advice, and had had great confidence in this company, which is why I used them to winterize a hot tub on a rental property when the renters no longer wanted to use it. When new renters wanted to use it, I went to the property, expecting to fill and restart the hot tub. That's when I ran into the issue described above. When I went to Pool Doctor, with photos of the dirty tub and filter, the manager did provide the Jet Blast cleaner and filter free of charge. But I will not trust them again. read more

Anyone thinking of using Pool Doctor & Spa. Have used this company for my pool since I have owned my house and pool approximately 12 years Have visited and have spent a lot of money with them and their services. last year I had them winterized my pool. After installing the pool cover they damaged 3 of the brass fittings installed in the concrete. When I summarized the pool I found out that they broke the plug that plugs the skimmer. It took an hour the remove and had to be drilled out. None off this we relayed to me when they did the winterization. During the summer I called to get at estimate and texted information to get the pool pump replaced. No one ever called back so I replaced it myself. My hot tub motor went out several months ago and again I called for them to come out to replace it. A service man showed up and never replaced it. My wife said the told her there pump was bad and they would give an estimate and time to come back and repair. It was winter and freezing so I had to run a heater to keep it from freezing for 2 two weeks waiting for a call back. I never received a call back so I called another company and they came right out and replaced the pump. A week later I was sent an invoice for a diagnosis and service call. I never received any written diagnosis, no estimate for cost of repairs, and no time as to when the repairs would be done. I was called by a Pool Doctor representative who said I needed to pay the bill and I tried to explain I never received any of what the invoice was charging me for. That was followed up with a long email thread threatening to send me to collections if I did not pay the bill. This thread included disrespectful statements and threats that were pretty shocking. Pretty shocking that I have spent thousands of dollars over years and now I am being threatened for $150. When I called to schedule the service call I stated my hot tub motor was burned out. No diagnosis needed nor did they say they would have to diagnosis it before any repairs. Nor did they state a diagnosis would cost $150. This was the absolute worst company experience my in laws have ever had. Listening to them explain the situation infuriated me. The pool doctor left them with poor communication, poor follow through, and charged them outrageous amounts for work they never did. If you are looking for someone to help with your pool need. We didn't shop around and now regret it . Here's what happened. 1. Very unprofessional. The salesman bad mouthed the competition when asked about other companies. 2. Bad business . After the purchase of our hot tub the salesman called 30 minutes later wanting more money but didn't give a reason why they needed more $$$. 3. Horrible service . The pool doctors won't come and finish putting our cover hardware on and never showed us how to use the chemicals. 4. They lie . Not only did she go above and beyond to assist me in a timely manner, she did so with genuine compassion, kindness and diligence! Thank you, Luda, for being amazing and caring so much for your clients! I wanted to leave multiple reviews to showcase my experience with each individual, however, I am not able, so I'll continue below! The technician that arrived to assist with my emergency did so with a sense of urgency and a tenacious spirit! He had not been to the location before or seen the system. Nothing stopped him from determining an appropriate action to safeguard the equipment, and to top it off, he did so with a positive attitude and reassured everyone. Grateful to have worked alongside Josh and furthering our relationship with Pool Doctor! Last but not least, is the darling who called the next day to make sure everything was taken care of! She expressed care and concern and asked if there was anything she could do to assist. We had the most wonderful conversation, including sharing compliments. We spent a month in a nice rental house in Boise while I was recovering from knee surgery. I spent extra for a house with a nice big hot tub so my sister could use it while she was taking care of me. It was kind of slimy when we got there, then it developed this bad smell and sediment accumulating on the bottom. Then it developed this green slime around the edges. We called the management company every week and every week they said they would send their people. The Pool Doctor and Spa who are supposed to service the hot tub every Wednesday. They were at the house every Wednesday and it never got better. Sometimes it got worse. Finally, they agreed that the whole thing needed to be drained and cleaned, which it has probably needed for a month. So we will lose use of the hot tub until the water warms up again, one day before we are checking out. I hate to leave a bad review for the house because we had a dirty slimy hot tub for a month. It really isn't their fault. They apparently rely on The Pool Doctor to take care of the hot tub and pay for weekly visits and the service has been terrible. I've used the store during the more recent past ownership with mixed results, including winter blowouts. Recently, I had some pool tile that had failed during the winter. I sent pictures over of the damage and received a timely initial reply, but over 3 weeks later, I've still not received any sort of response as to whether they can help. I'm guessing they use sub-contractors who evaluate each job to see if they want to work on it, or not. So, in my case, they must not have wanted to do the job...too small, too far away, too busy, wrong moon phase, whatever. That's fine for the sub, but I didn't call the sub for help, I called The Pool Doctor who advertises these services, and it's their name that get's the review for not even following up with a customer. I would have greatly appreciated a 'thank you for contacting us regarding your pool; however, due to _____ we are unable to assist you at this time. However, here are some possible contractors who may be able to help".....something like that would have been great! I don't believe I will be darkening their door in the future. read more

After dealing with Pool Doctor for years to open and close my pool and never not paying them for their services in spite having left my pool green during an opening a few years ago, I was told today that before they will come open my pool they will require my credit card to auto-charge for their services. That this is a new policy due to people (not me) who haven't paid. What I had asked for was a bill via email or text before I authorized payment. I was met with an answer of "no." Last year when I received charges on my card without my authorization I emailed details to the owner Evan without any response or concern for the service. Today was the last straw, not only the attitude of the office person calling but the returned call to tell me, if you don't authorize auto payment we won't open your pool. That was an easy answer for me which was, I'll find someone else, which I already had as it's clear Pool Doctor has not interest in customer service at this point. read more

I was a 12 year loyal customer of Pool Doctor. They opened my pool at an exorbitant price of $375 (basically just unplugged it and added chemicals). My auto cover stuck open. They left with the pool open. For 4 weeks, I was assured that they would return to help fix my auto cover (before Memorial Day). When I reached out (not them calling me) the week of Memorial Day, they said it would take at least another 3 weeks. When I spoke to a manager, he told me they has to attend to their corporate clients over me. Do NOT trust or patronize this company. They do not value loyal customers. read more

Evan, Brandon and the crew have been absolutely amazing throughout this whole process! We purchased a 14 ft swim spa and pretty much started from zero. The Pool Doctor peeps coordinated the pad pred (and did 99% of the work themselves!), crane and installation and coordinator with the electricians and have been here on more than a few occasions. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS - Terrible customer service with opening pools. We called in May to schedule to have our pool opened. Mind you they closed the pool in October. They said they would put us on a waiting list but it could be the end of June. I called back the 1st of June and they said they were no longer opening any pools, they are completely full. We bought a house with a pool in the Fall and Pool Doctor had been servicing it for the prior owner who lived out of state. We continued the service with Pool Doctor just to get us finished and closed up for the year. The technician who came out filled out his worksheet saying he had done all the services including scrubbing the sides and removing debris. We weren't home when he came out, but we checked the pool upon arriving home. Nothing at all had been cleaned. There were hundreds of worms in the pool and lots of other debris like leaves at the bottom. I spoke to the company and complained. The owner returned a call and acknowledged that the technician may have cut corners if he knew the owners were out of town. Still the owner didn't offer to come make it right, he said they could clean it up in the Spring. I don't feel like I want to pay for them to come clean up in the Spring what should have been cleaned up in the Fall. By the way we were still required to pay full fees as if all the cleaning had been done. I would not recommend this company. Update: I deleted a couple of things from my above review after receiving a phone call from the owner of the company and discussing the circumstances. We had a good conversation and I really appreciate his follow up on this matter. There were misunderstandings and assumptions made on both sides. Though we don't agree on all the details of what happened, it is clear that my complaint fell through a hole and didn't receive their typical level of follow up. He assured me that they always strive to keep their customers happy and that they have systems in place to deal with complaints as well as incentive systems in place to keep their employees motivated to do their best work. As a gesture of good will he offered to reimburse us for the fees we paid. We appreciate his gesture as well as his follow up and as a consequence we are replacing our one star rating with a three star rating. read more

Very unsatisfied with service from this company. Whatever you do, do not call them to work on an automatic pool cover. We originally had them come out to look at our auto cover that wasn't closing all the way and was told it was the motor. After paying over $1400 for a motor, a day later, the cover stopped in the same spot. Another $1300 in invoices and a month later, they finally fixed it. After the last repair, we were told they had mentioned this needed fixed to the previous owners. If they knew that was the issue to start with, why replace something else to start instead of what you "knew" it was and had already told the previous owner. What a joke...needless to say, I've found a new pool company. read more

They are even worse than the previous owner. They broke a part while closing our pool and said they would fix it for a 20% discount. Still $200+ so we ordered the part online and my husband fixed it for under $50 and in under 10 minutes. Their response time is horrible aslo. They showed up on time and the guys were nice; but that's about it for the service. I have given this company several chances and now I'm done with them. I used them to close my pool last year. They disassembled all the pump parts and added chemicals for winterization. Being that they "closed" the pool I chose to use them to "open" the pool hoping that they would know how to put everything back together. When they came back, they reassembled the pump parts and added more chemicals. One of the techs showed me some sort of valve that had a crack in it and said I would need a new one before they could do anything. I quickly ran out and purchased this ($30) valve. The person at the supply house said that it was cracked due to water freezing on the inside. I reinstalled the new valve and the techs fired up the system. In their eyes, they were done and quickly wanted their money. After they left, I went to check the pool room, it was a wreck!!! -sand and water everywhere, water was dripping from the filter and from around some pipes. I also noticed the brackets that held the pipes to the wall were now falling off. Apparently, when the techs were reassembling the pumps, they also sprung a leak which cause water to saturate the drywall in the pool room. I called the office to speak with the owner (Dave). A lady named Brandy intercepted and really tried hard to resolve the problem rather than letting me talk to the owner. I mentioned to her that I felt it was their fault the valve cracked as they were the company that "closed" the pool for winter. I explained the other problems as well. She said she would have the Supervisor (Rich?) call be back ASAP. I never did hear back from this guy. The techs showed up the next day to sweep up the sand and attempt to fix the leaky filter. They never did pay for the valve! It is now over a month later and the filter is still leaking. I'm not sure if I even want these guys touching my pool ever again. Last year I bought a very expensive bottom cleaner from this company. It has not worked properly since the day it was installed. I called to complain. They sent a guy out; he started by telling me that this item was junk! -It was their sales guy (Mike) that recommended this model of cleaner! To this day, this item still doesn't work properly. I really feel that the owner does not care about his company, and for this reason, I will not be using them in the future. I will also be telling everyone I know about my experience. I have another person coming out to look at the leaking filter next week. It's a shame that I have to pay twice because some business owner has horrible business practices and inept employees! read more

I am extremely happy with the service I recieved from them. I'm new to the area as well as to owning a pool. I had set up an appointment with them to close our pool for the season and before my appointment my heaters service light came on. Not really knowing how to take care of things dealing with our pool I called them in a panic that they weren't suppose to come until the following week because they were booked up. They made time to come out and check my system and make sure everything was ok that day. I am more than relieved and thankful to them for their great customer service and will be using them and referring them to everyone I can. read more

This review is based on the Pool Doctors, pool construction business. Jason was the lead on this failed project. If there was a minus -5 Star rating, that would be my overall experience and rating for the Pool Doctor. I hired the Pool Doctor last year as the contractor for a new pool. I had bought a home with a very large back yard and a pool seemed like a great idea for family and friends. My grandkids were so thrilled. Sadly, what a nightmare. I had done a lot of research and determined that I wanted a free-form fiberglass pool. Specifically, a Viking pool. The Pool Doctor was able to become a distributor. The pool itself is the only positive piece of the whole project. A terrible experience. Construction started June 1, with an estimated 3 weeks to complete. In October, November they still had uncompleted and unacceptable work. Absolutely, nothing went as expected. They obviously had no idea what they were doing. The decking is stamped (or unstamped) concrete. What a mess, the final product would not meet anyone's standards. Other Professionals In the concrete business were in disbelief that the Pool Doctor could consider the product acceptable. The issues included, no consistency in stamping (under stamping-over stamping), color and texture. Incorrect sloping, height of deck and sealing. The list goes on...They literally destroyed the backyard (and front yard). I spent thousands of addional dollars fixing what they destroyed or the cosmetic problems they created. They would not stand behind the agreement and the workmanship promised and expected. We have gone through our first winter and the issues have escalated. They had a clean slate for a perfect pool project, but nothing worked accordingly. I wish I could turn back time and choose another contractor. This was a very expensive project that is meant to last a lifetime. Only the expense was delivered. Sorry, but do yourself a favor and look for a pool contractor with the experience, workmanship, reputation and references for such an important project. Otherwise, you will wish you would have never decided to install a pool. Good luck! read more
