Always a good meal. Generally, when you start out with great bread , it sets the tone of the rest of the meal. Apps are on the money. The specials are very good. Pasta dishes are good and there sauce is very good as well. I generally get the swordfish. I like there seafood! read more

Food is usually consistent here and dinner was okay, nothing outstanding but good. I had the penne tuscany which is penne pasta, eggplant and smoke mozzarella and it was decent. I've had it better, more seasoned there before so this was just a little off on the seasoning which made it more bland than normal. The service was spot on which is always a plus. The evening was nice, I would go back again and see if this was a one-off or something more. read more

Really really good. Been here a few times and it has always been good. Great prefix menu, prices are reasonable, BYOB even better. Seafood dinners are the highlight of the menu. Only downside is this place is always busy and the service tends to suffer because of it. Our waiter was great at the beginning of the meal and as the place got busier , no one came back to see if we needed anything. But I would still come back read more

Food is always delicious but way too pricey. Very large list of specials should be provided in writing. BYOB is a plus, I guess.

Would give it a solid 3.5 stars as our waiter was fantastic and gave us the specials, showed dessert and was attentive beyond what our meals offered. While the menu is extensive and creative, it did not pop with taste. Our Salad with berries and goat cheese was good but the dressing lacked the tartness of good balsamic vinegar or a dash of dark mustard. My sole with scallops and vegetables didn't have enough of the white wine taste and was just ok. Chicken parm was fresh but didn't have enough garlic but the pasta and sauce were fine. Sorry that we could not stay for the extensive dessert offering. BYOB and good parking. read more

I'm a little surprised by all the negative reviews. I think Ponte Vecchio is great at exactly what it is: A Little Neighborhood Italian Place. The sauce is delicious, the pasta is al dente, the portions are generous (like feed-you-for-2-days generous). The house is adequately staffed - always someone to take care of you even on the busiest of nights, and I've gone with friends and sat for hours after the bill is paid and no one bothers us. And who can beat their 3 course dinner special for $25? Don't be fooled by the menu - I have yet to go there and not receive at least 10 specials in addition to what is already mentioned. BYOB. read more

Our family loves the food! They always accommodate my father when he orders this special steak dish adding crab meat on top! Friendly wait staff , haven't had a bad meal yet! read more

I come here about once every few months & it is always a delicious meal with great service. Everyone I take here always enjoys the meal & wants to come back. I forgot to take photos from my meal the other night, but that just shows how much we enjoyed everything. If I had one small complaint is I wish they used a better quality olive oil & put it out with the bread it would be so delicious...but everything perfect otherwise. read more

The food is excellent. The service is ok. They pay attention to you but reception from hostesses has always been - less than desirable. The atmosphere is romantic/ hip. Oh and one more thing... You need a reservation even for a Monday night when it is empty! I just showed up and they told me I needed a reservation so impromptu dinners appear to be out of the question. read more

Visited this restaurant with my family who lives in Matawan. It was over priced and un attentive. I asked for extra cheese on my salad and they said NO. I sat in shock. read more

I held a private party here and the service was horrible. On top of the terrible service my guests were served brown lettuce and they weren't offered beverages. When I spoke to management about it they were completely shocked. Not once during the party did the manager speak to me and ask me how everything was going. I will not ever recommend this restaurant for a private event. You will be more then disappointed. read more

We went to the restaurant yesterday for a family celebration (11 family members). Service: Our waiter approached the table, said "listen up these are the specials for tonight". And no, not with a friendly smile or even a pleasant expression on his face. Think announcement in a food hall. His service and attitude continued to be in no way appropriate for a restaurant of this price point. We asked him to describe the ingredients in one of the specials of the day. His answer: I don't know, I just sell it. Really, a $30 dish and you don't know or at least offer to go back to the kitchen to find out? Food: I didn't think an Italian restaurant would not offer spaghetti if requested. But ok. We requested the available pasta to be cooked al dente. He said no. Plain no. After questioned further, he told us that the pasta is pre-cooked, already done and the kitchen could not offer us al dente. And no, we are not talking about $10 dishes! Not one of the steaks were prepared in the manner ordered. Sorry, this statement is not true. One steak was ordered well done. And it actually came this way:) but not the steaks ordered blue, medium rare, medium. At this point we didn't bother to complain or ask for a correct prepared dish. Our bill for a group of 11 came to $600+ without tip. No wine. This should have translated to friendly, professional service and carefully prepared food. Unfortunately this is not what happened. read more

I worked here from 2013 until 2014 and the food is REALLY good. I've tried many dishes, and there wasn't one I didn't like! Whenever my parents visit, we go to dinner here, and they're always impressed with the food. The restaurant in BYOB, so that's always a plus. The bread is fantastic, as well. read more

Always a five star. Service excellent, apps and dinner great. Never rushed and the number of specials was insane, waitress description of each made it difficult to choose. They all sounded good! read more

I have dined here on 2 occasions for lunch. They have a a prix fixe for lunch with options for $15 or $20 depending upon the entree chosen. There are more than enough options to suit anyone's taste and for the amount of food/ portions sizes given it is a steal. We had such a good experience the first time we went, we opted to go back again and were not disappointed. We were promptly seated and attended to. Specials were offered but we opted to go with the prix fixe. I had the ricotta and mozzarella fritta as my app. Reminded me of burrata, but warm with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella on top. It was tasty. For my main, I had the mahi mahi with artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes and shiitake mushrooms. Huge piece of fish and enormous serving for lunch. For dessert I had Italian cheesecake which was very good. They noticed it was my dad's birthday because I had given him a card at the table. They brought out his cheesecake with a lit candle and wished him a happy birthday. I was impressed with their attention to detail as I had not advised them or indicated to them to do this. This was very much appreciated. Solid restaurant with excellent service. Great prix fixe lunch options. Absolutely will return. read more

Good good food! As long as you don't get put against the wall of tight tables (bring a party of 3 or more to avoid this) the dining experience is great! read more

Delicious! EVERYTHING! Can't go wrong. Only reason why i didn't give full, is it is a little pricey. But i guess you do get what you pay for because it is reeeeally great fancy food. read more

Good food, a bit overpriced, atmosphere is ok and a decent all around experience. I have had the veal parmigiana a couple of times and it really is good, not over the top awesome, but good. The sauce is decent, they use actual veal and the pasta was very good. I will agree with some of the other reviewers about the service lacking in certain areas and when this place is busy, it's very noisy and cramped. It is a byob, so if you would like a nice glass of wine with your meal, make sure you bring your own. All in all my experience has been good, not great, not horrible, but good. read more

My husband and I have been here 3 times since moving back to the area. Twice with our families and once by ourselves. We love the food here! I suggest making a reservation if you plan on going on the weekend, even if it's 2 people they are always busy and it's best to be safe and call ahead of time. The food is always great. Twice I've ordered off of the daily specials and both dishes were great. I've even tried the pre-fixed which is offered Monday-Thursday and they are not shy with the portions. Desserts are also great and they always have something different. If they have the lobster tail for dessert you've gotta try it! It's amazing! The staff is always great as well, and the manager is always sure to check in on our table to make sure our dining experience is good. It's also a BYOB which is great we enjoy bring wine and after dinner cordials for dessert. read more

Nice place, but the menu and the food remind me of a pizza joint, restaurant like this are in every strip mall in New Jersey, nothing to brag about. read more

Excellent fresh Italian food. I had the Chicken Parm, the portion size was on the larger side it was very flavorful. The bread served was fantastic, a thick crust with a warm center. Our waitress was very frlendly and attentive. Overall, a very clean establishment with a friendly staff and excellent food. read more

A very nice atmosphere and beautiful restaurant! The food was very good highly recommend penne vodka, they have a large seafood menu which sounds delicious. Service was overall decent and quick, only comment would be the waitress didn't check often enough bc we didn't have our water glasses refilled for quite sometime. In retrospect it's a good Italian restaurant! Definitely worth another trip. read more

Amazing Italian restaurant! The pricing and quality was great. Food and service was delicious. There was so much to choose from and the dessert choices was fantastic. For 6 people who ordered 3 appetizers, 6 main courses, and 6 desserts the bill came out to $34 each including the tip. Definitely a new favorite place of mine. The area was nice and clean as well. BYOB doesnt get any better than that :) read more

One of the best italian restaurants I've been to. My family and I went here for father's day and their specials were to die for. It's BYOB. From appetizers to desserts, amazing food. A bit pricey but for the quality of food you get, it's worth it. read more

My family took me there last night for my Birthday!! It was awesome! I had the surf and turf and the lobster tail was just melt in your mouth!! My fiance and I went here to celebrate her birthday. Its conveniently located around the corner from us, its BYOB, and we had heard good things about this place. Well, when we arrived we were greeted and seated right away. The server came right over to uncork our wine and discuss the specials.......that was the last we saw of her. A half hour later and no one had came by our table to take our order. The other tables around us were already eating their meals and were visited by their servers in that time frame. During this time no one touched our table to check on us to see if we needed anything (like placing our order). After a half hour of being ignored, we decided to leave and give our business to another restaurant that would atleast be attentive to their guests. If you like being ignored, this place is for you read more

Had dinner with a friend here and was very pleased. The food was great, the place was a little hard to find but glad we found it. I'm such a big seafood fan. You kind of have to walk around to find the place it's in a little strip mall. You can also byob which I guess is good if you drink. Our waiter was really nice, but it was extremely hard to understand him he spoke way too fast and such a heavy thick accent we just stuck with what was on the menu. It was also freezing where we were sitting we asked for them to turn the AC off as it was blowing on our back, and they did for a little. Then it was on again while we were eating which kind of sucked because it made my food cold so quick. I would like to come back during a really hot day maybe I would appreciate the freezing temperatures. The food was great and I would definitely like to try more. read more

I went here for a dinner with my friend. She suggested it. And I'm so glad she did. Even though we went in on a Thursday evening, the place was nearly packed. And while we were being seated, the hostess and maitre de seemed confused as to where to seat us. My friend decided to have ginger ale for a drink - which she never got. I had my first taste of zucchini fries for appetizer, and both of us had the lobster ravioli. YUUMMMMM! Though their service could use a little help, the food definitely does not disappoint. read more

Just had an absolutely delicious meal with my family here tonight. The service was excellent and the food was some of the best I've had in the old bridge area. We started out with the hot appetizer sampler for parties larger that 7. All the different appetizers rock shrimp, calamari, caprese salad, eggplant rolatini and muscles oregenata were not only amazing but enough of a meal by themselves, then our meals were all impeccable. My family that had come from out of town were very happy with my choice of dinner location as well as everyone else. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We ordered catering from Ponte Vecchio for our Old Bridge office. When we arrived to pick up the catering, we were informed there was a problem with our corporate card. The hostess, Julie, could not have been more kind, patient, gracious, helpful and accommodating. She helped make a stressful situation so much better. Once resolved, our office loved the lunch and I have to say (and I'm a Queens girl) that it was the best penne a la vodka I have ever had. Thanks so much Julie and Ponte Vecchio - your customer service is stellar! read more

I just want to say I had a fabulous meal here last night for my birthday. I had the halibut special that was cooked perfectly. My parents had the short ribs that melted in your mouth. The portions are big; there is enough for a second meal. I was torn between so many things on the menu. Because we were so full we missed out on dessert, but we'll definitely be back. And I love that it's BYOB and the service is great! read more

Went here are 6:30 on a Monday night - sat right away. Friendly waiters who knew there stuff. Great daily specials! Restaurant in BYOB and uncorked as soon as we got there. Calamari for the table to start was great! I got the seafood far diavlo which is always a favorite - TONS of seafood on the pasta, sauce wasn't too spicy but was delicious. No room for dessert but the dessert tray looked to die for! Delicious - would love to go back if we are back in the area read more

Apps were decent. Halibut special was overcooked, dry, no sauce, no seasoning, with an overwhelming burnt/charred taste, and was downright inedible. For a $30 (OVERPRICED) inedible piece of fish, I won't be returning. And based on how the server handled the situation, neither will anyone else from my large party. Also, we ordered a cake from them, a SMALL round cake for $35, which was entirely mushy and wet on the bottom, because it was FROZEN (half of us had still-frozen slices). Save your hard earned money and eat at another Italian place nearby. read more

Dined here 6pm on Saturday night. The place was fairly busy and continued to fill up as the evening went on. Waitress was attentive. The food service was very slow. It was almost 7:45 before our entrees were served. We were told by waitress that the chef is on vacation so the owner was doing the cooking and the kitchen was a little backed up. The salad was drenched in so much dressing that i sent it back. Food was just ok. I ordered the special filet mignon medallions and stuffed shrimp for my entree. I asked for the steak medium and although it was pink inside it was very dry. The shrimp were very tasty. Others in our party enjoyed chicken parm, veal parm and seafood fra diavolo and no complaints. Overall not one of the better meals we enjoyed here. We'll stick with Frescos since we've NEVER had a bad meal there. Won't waste our money at Ponte Vecchio. read more

Terrible! The waiter didn't greet us, just handed us the menus. We finally asked his name, John. The salad was old and very wilted, sent it back. The butter tasted like it had refrigerator stale taste. The waiter did bring a wine bucket, but didn't pour it and didn't ask my wife if she wanted anything to drink, as she doesn't like wine. We ordered clams casino, VERY small clams, and had ham not bacon. The veal francese was COVERED with lemon butter, dripping, terrible! We also ordered the macadamia encrusted grouper with mango salsa. There was sooooo much salsa the encrusted part of the fish was mushy, as well as the fish! We could not eat either dish. The unpolite waiter got the manager. She admitted the veal had way too much sauce, and insisted the fish was wonderful! She also said there is nothing wrong with the butter, quite loudly so the next table heard everything! No mention of the nasty salad. She was very condescending to us! SHE ACTUALLY SAID, DON'T FRET, HAVE A GLASS OF WINE!! So rude! She did offer to make something else, but after being treated like children already, we decided to leave. We paid for the clams and soup, which was the only good thing we had. NOT ONE, I'M SO SORRY, FROM THE WAITER OR MANAGER!!!!! Waiter got zip for his tip and the manager got this review. We live in Colorado and came here to see family, and to scout out a nice restaurant we can all go to. NOT THIS ONE! No apology, just being told we were wrong, what happened to the customer is always right! read more

Terrible! The seafood salad had no taste. The pork shank with risotto had no taste. I was so disappointed! read more

The hostess was an absolutely sweetheart and probably the nicest one we interacted with the entire duration of our night out at this restaurant. The server (michelle) made us feel totally uncomfortable. My boyfriend and I are both in our mid twenties and she treated us like we were young children and continuously made comments stating how young we look. The whole time she spoke to us like children and it really tainted the whole dining experience. Then made a comment because we knew what we wanted before hearing the specials. The food was eh but the service definitely made everything worse. Probably will never return because it seemed like younger couples aren't welcome at this establishment. read more
