My wife grew up out here and always remembers how good the chicken and spuds were. I have had a few trips here and this is the first one of this year and it was worth it . This has been a family favorite for many years. Pizza is pretty good for what it is - many come here for the chicken and mojo's, an Oregon specialty. Both are cooked in a broaster and are pretty tasty. Place gets loud, especially during Oregon Ducks football. Service is fairly basic and seemed OK in recent trips. read more

We had read a review stating that the fried chicken was good. So, we ordered the eight-piece with spuds. Got home, and found only seven pieces of chicken. The chicken was all way overcooked, (left it in the fryer way too long, in old oil). Wings, breasts dry, withered, and stringy. And the smallest thigh pieces (2" across) that I have ever seen, all terribly over-cooked, and having a burnt taste. The spuds, which are dumped over the chicken in a bag to assure that the chicken batter was nice and soggy when we got home, were nothing special (sliced potatoes with cayenne and flour, and deep fried). $24 for for a seven piece chicken order that was fit for throwing away. What a rip-off! The girl at the counter was pleasant, but getting home with a bum meal was unacceptable. Not recommended. read more

Great little place. We had been hesitant to try just because it seemed they were never busy. Not the case. The first time we tried, they were buried under to go orders. It's been a few months, I just logged on to yelp and it suggested a review here. I will preface by saying we went to or ordered ponderosa to go about once a week, maybe 3 times a month for almost 3 years. Now, we will never go back. I am not an anti masker but I don't like them either. I just assume go by the rules of the establishment because it is their establishment and it is my choice to spend my money there. We ordered our pizza, and waited. When you sit down, you can take your mask off, which my kids and I did. Our name was called for our pizza, and I stood up to get it. In doing so, I had neglected to put my mask on. I took the 4 steps to the counter to get our pizza and the worker quickly turned and (I don't remember exactly what he said) refused to give me the pizza until I put my mask on - literally like a child. In hindsight, I wish badly that I had just asked for our $$ back, but instead I put my mask on and asked for it to go. Truthfully, and unbiased, I can say that the pizza just isn't that great. My kids see it as a treat to get pizza, and there just aren't that many options here in La Pine, so go we. But, as La pine grows so does their food options and places like this won't survive unless they start showing some respect to those who frequent them. This review is for the team working on friday night, the 8th of october 2021. We showed up 15 minutes before closing. There was 3 or 4 people that I saw working. They were super busy, but the hustle was on!! Smiles on their faces, everyone working like their life depended on it, a symphony of controlled chaos. This team was pumping out pies and serving guests like a well oiled machine. They were making pies 30 minutes after closing with out any lack of enthusiasm. I have been in the restaurant business for 20 years and I want to let these people know they are appreciated, they are wanted, and they deserve gratitude, for digging in and killing it!! I only caught the young man helping us at the counters name, CRUZ, You rocked! But it was obviously a team effort. I don't expect people to go out of there way and be super nice but both ladies working acted like we were an inconvenience to them for coming in. My husband always raves about this place particularly their jojos. So while we were visiting family friends in Redmond, we decided to make the drive to Ponderosa. I let my husband do the ordering while my daughter played in their little arcade area. He got us a large pizza, a mountain of jojos and fried chicken, two sides of jojos, and my salad bar. I would not recommend this much food for four people and a kid. The salad bar was small but had good choices. You have to go to the counter to get an actual chilled salad plate because the ones at the salad bar are actual side plates for pizza and apps. The ranch was AMAZING!! Our whole order took about 30 min while three other parties had their food come out. I guess they wanted all our food to come out at the same time because other parties got the jojos and fried chicken. Our pizza was burnt on the crust and they offered to remake it but we didn't want to wait another 30 min. The jojos were good but a little too salty. The ranch helped calm the salt down a lot. The pizza was ok, nothing special. I really liked the friend chicken as it was moist yet crunchy on the outside. Overall it could have been better since it wasn't full or busy and it was 2 pm. But my husband loves this place and will continue to get their jojos. On the upside, all the leftover jojos tasted amazing that night reheated.. read more

Terrible service! Twice I've ordered pizza and both times they couldn't get it right. Half pepperoni and half Canadian bacon is fairly straightforward and easy. This establishment can not get two orders in a row correct. The managers are young and argumentative without an ability to listen, they just react and argue. Great service with kind and engaged staff who make up for the overpriced lukewarm pizza and skimpy overpriced salad bar. flavor for the pizza was nice enough if you can get over the pale uncrispy crust that was premade but said to be fresh that day. They provide great ranch dressing for the slightly over aged lettuce and barely basic toppings. I think it would be great as a take and rebake pizza however, I'd suggest skipping the salad bar all together and just get some of that tasty ranch to take home!!! Since it's close to our home we gave it a try. First time it was not good. Service was okay not great but okay. We gave it a second try becase it received okay reviews and everyone has a bad day. Pizza is terible you can get a better frozen pizza. I only gave it a 2 because it's edible if you don't have an oven to cook a frozen pizza. read more
