Decor is a blast from the past but appropriate for the area We were greeted by a very lovely woman who sat us and was super helpful with recommendations on the menu. The baked potato fries were delicious We had Brisket sandwich (x2) Elk burger Both were cooked very nicely and flavorful. Recommendation would be to serve the brisket sandwich with some bbq sauce. This is located on a stretch of US-97 that doesn't have a lot of places to stop so it was also really nice to have a clean bathroom and the parking lot can accommodate vehicles with trailers. read more

Best chicken wings EVER. got the lemon wings with dips to the side. Wings are not fatty and have a very light and crispy coating. These wings spoiled me from ordering them any where else. My husband had elk burger which he declared delicious. Our companions had the Greek salad and chicken wrap and fries - both well received. We stop in crescent overnight between home and Idaho. It's the 1/2 way point...about 10 hrs per day. We come from the motel Nextdoor and either eat in the restaurant or take it to the motel. The food is wonderful...fresh meat, not frozen, fresh fries...cooked perfectly. The menu is great, and the pie is fresh...we often arrive after the pie is all gone! We highly recommend this eatery. We also love the friendly, small town, rustic vibe...the staff are great, ready to please, and conversational. I used to do taxidermy for my college museum, and get a kick out of the old mounts around the dining room. Sitting near the blazing fireplace s great on cold, snowy nights after a looong drive. This little dive is next door to a horrible hotel called the Woodsman Country Lodge. One of the few redeeming places in this town, the food was actually pretty good. Service was a little spotty, the poor waitress was doing 10 things at once. We were killing time, had a bit of fun playing video poker and got thoroughly trashed for a decent price. My partner had a Cobb salad with chicken and had more lettuce than she could eat. I got the chicken strips and onion rings because why not. I ate all the onion rings and only one of the three large pieces of chicken. We had the other two for breakfast the next day. Did the core is a little dark and I must admit I've been into plenty of restaurants that look like this in the Dakotas with taxidermy of all sorts hanging on the walls and a pretty impressive collection at that. The atmosphere COULD be fun. The service was absolutely terrible. They weren't even that busy and even so some eye contact around the dining room would have been nice from the server. She was always walking fast with her eyes down. It is seat yourself and I watched two tables come in and sit, and then after each waiting about 15 minutes to get menus got up and walked out. She never noticed them come in, sit there, or walk out. And she walked through the dining room many times. When one table confronted her she turned her back to them and walked back into the kitchen. The food was not great. My omelet was runny in the middle and everything had an odd taste. None of us finished our meals. Even the pancakes tasted odd. It's unfortunate because for a small town to have the potential to have a great little tourist trap, this missed the mark greatly. read more

I walked in one early morning for the first time. The bar was in the front and the restaurant was in the back. There was a pool table in the entry way. There was odd stuff hanging on the walls. I knew I was going to like this place! It had been a hard weekend, the weather was hot, my duties I was in the area to perform for work were dusty. I was looking for a good breakfast, or just a big one, I really did not care at that point. I headed on to the back and was told to sit anywhere I wanted. I chose a corner table because that way you can see everything happening. You also get to see everything on the walls. Water and a menu were set down in front of me. The menu was extensive for a small town place with some imaginative items to consider. They also had a full array of your usual breakfast favorites. Looking for something different I ordered the taco omelet with hash browns and a biscuit. Since I was hungry I asked for a side of sausage gravy for my biscuit. I have to report that the omelet was stuffed with ground beef, cheese, olives, tomato and the salsa and sour cream were on the side. That was an amazing and inventive dish! The hash browns were perfect. But that biscuit? Oh Lordy the biscuit! I have an affinity for biscuits and gravy, one may even refer to me as an expert, or at least an aficionado. Believe me when I tell you that this was one of the lightest, tastiest biscuits I have ever had the pleasure of dousing in country gravy! The fifth star, that's the biscuit star! Been by this place dozens of times but never stopped. Wish we had! The food (breakfast) was great, in huge (almost too huge) logger-sized portions. The decor was early Oregon, with dark wood paneling, wuzza-animals on the walls and these great murals that were painted in 1961. The omelet and taters were done to perfection and the coffee was hot. The service, just one guy, was friendly, if a little over-worked, but everything got done. Don't let the sort of funky outsides scare you off... My favorite place to stop on Hwy97. Twice a year I drive from California to Washington and always make it a point to stop at The Mohawk. On my last trip in May, I had intended to stop and was so saddened to see that they had closed permanently. I wonder what will happen to all that wonderful taxidermy? Totally kitschy and fun with a great display of taxidermy and collectibles. Very friendly service, clean, plenty of locals (always a good sign), and very good food. Had dinner here tonight after reading reviews. I had asked young lady where we are staying where to eat in town last time we came through and she said to go across the street to the bar from this place so we did. I didn't like the treatment there so this time on our way back through here again staying at the same place we decided to against what she said from the Yelp reviews and boy am I glad we did! Dinner and atmosphere much better than the other place. Waitress was so friendly! Tomorrow is her birthday! We had chicken fried steak dinner special and great clam chowder being its Friday evening. We stopped on our way from Bend to Eugene for a a quick lunch. The building does not look like much and there was a touch of apprehension on what we would find inside but we were pleasantly surprised! We ate in the dining room which is a collection of all kinds of trinkets! Very fun to look at. The dining room is a little dark and old looking but had a fire going and was nice that it was so out of the normal. We explored the bar and it was brighter with light wood and windows. Those that we encountered were warm and friendly. The food was much better than I expected! The burger had homemade sauce and the french dip wasn't fatty and served with perfectly cooked onions and melted cheese. Nothing to complain about and exceeded expectations!
