Rating: Four stars - Good We went here after hiking at Crater Lake National Park. The tavern is exactly what you think a restaurant in rural Oregon would look like (not a bad thing). The tavern has a bar and regular seating. There are also pool tables and slot machines available if you are into that. The staff were very friendly. We went with their recommendation and got the broasted chicken. It was delicious! It was some of the best fried chicken we have had at a restaurant. The burger was good, but it could not compete with the chicken. The tavern only accepts cash, but they have an ATM outside. I would recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner if you are in the area. read more

Every tume we pass through, we stop in here for their broasted chicken. It's definitely the best that I know of. I know they changed ownership a while back but, as far as I'm concerned, their food is still just as good. They're also very friendly in this place. Give it a try! read more

Have been eating their broasted chicken, and jojo's since I was a little girl. We would be out camping at one of the near by lakes fishing. My Dad, or one of my Uncles would go up and get some for lunch, or dinner. It was always the best around. I would say it still is some of the best around still. My boys now go here after they snow board, or off roading adventures. They love it here as much as I do. We try to stop every time we are on our way to Bend, or Sunriver. Last time we did we had our usual broasted chicken, and jojo's. I wanted a cup of chili. It was really good chili. Would order it again. The service is not always the fastest. There is usually only one, or two of them working. I'm okay with supporting the locals, and know they are doing their best. read more

Our goal was Broasted Chicken and Manley's was the place. Friends had been there last last and recommended we join them on a 2nd visit. The DW is a BIG Broasted Chicken fan so we were in for sure. Manley's has a rustic log building decor housing a pub, slots and, of course, food. Pub and slots were not our wants - just the chicken. The waitress was a kick. Enthusiastic and efficient - we were well taken care of. The Broasted Chicken was very good. It is hard to find these days and this was four pieces done perfectly. I was heading back to the Valley from LaPine with a friend. We were hungry, and most places were closed by 7:00 that we had passed. We were told by our friend in LaPine that Manley's had good chicken. They were opened until 9:00, so we headed that way. The building was large and airy. I liked all of the wood. We ordered chicken and a sandwich. Our waitress was curt, which others on Yelp have interpreted as rude. She wasn't rude, just an older person that doesn't suffer fools. Those of a certain age have a thick skin, and won't take issue with it. About that time, I realized that they don't take credit or debit cards. They only take cash or checks. I didn't have either on me, and Yelp didn't specifically state "cash only" in their restaurant information, and I just assumed that they took plastic because everyone does these days. It could have ended badly, but my friend had enough cash to cover both of us. At that point, I recalled why I had never stopped there before, because I rarely carry enough cash to cover a sit-down meal, and checks are left at home for mailing payments. The food was fine. The chicken was hot and juicy. Not super flavorful, but chicken is already a tasteless meat, so I rarely get any that makes me sit up and proclaim. Had to try the famous chicken. Honestly, it was just okay. It was juicy and not overdone, but the minimal flavor and large amounts of grease dripping out of every bite outweighed most of the good. At one point my husband had grease dripping down his hands and it was pooled up in the tray. I lost my appetite at this time and stopped eating it. Where to begin, I definitely wanted this place to be good since it had this old school small town bar feel, but it was far from it. Worlds grumpiest waitress, thought her head was going to explode because I asked "if" I could get grilled onions on my burger. Now I don't mind a place with some attitude if I'm getting some awesome food but burger was just some frozen patty that I'd expect in a high school cafeteria, wasn't even hot enough to melt the cheese and the grilled onions were just one little strip. This place has been around for a long time and almost burned down in the late 90s. I started coming here a month ago after I picked up a summer job in the area. The bartenders are (mostly) friendly and the customers are pretty chill. They have some no arm bandits (slot machines) lining the walls around the room. Plenty of seating around the place too including a short bar area. This place is know for their broasted chicken and have written on the board "Manleys chicken is always the special"... The broasted and not fried aspect of the chicken makes it unique and auper tasty. You get half a chicken and wedges for roughly 13 bucks. Worth buying for sure. The customers are a mix of tourists and locals... The locals are the bearded guys in flannel and cowboy boots playing Hank Williams endlessly on the jukebox. I have 2 complaints: 1 is the size of their shots. They stick to the 1 ounce small shot glasses. I know that might be standard but it feels like a much better deal for 6.50 when you get 1.5 ounces in a larger glass. No need to be tight with the booze... It makes plenty of money without being stingy on the shots. 2nd complaint is that they dont take atm cards... Instead they direct you to the ATM which makes them an additional 2.50 on every transaction. Thats not very cool at all when my bank charges me 2.50 as well and then every meal is suddenly 5.00 more. Besides that the place is great... Given the options (or lack thereof) in the area Im giving it 5 stars. What a gem! We were on a road trip and had heard about their broasted chicken so we stopped to give it a try. We had the kid in the car so we took turns going in to check it out and choose from the menu. Typical but clean nice dark dive bar inside with lots of video poker games (I won while waiting for my chicken). The chicken and sides were all amazing and there was a little dirt lot where we had a little tailgate and ate the food. 10/10 read more

I have been going here for years. It's sad to say but it has been going down hill. The wait staff are not polite and not friendly. The famous chicken is not the same. It has no flavor and was dry. Passed by Manley's in Crescent Lake Junction on Highway 58 as we headed to eastern Oregon. The cheeseburger basket was amazing. A very large portion of delicious tasting meat made up the hamburger along with all the trimmings. The fries were crispy on the outside with a great flavor. It is aptly named a tavern with a couple of pool tables and a bar. But there is enough table seats from which to order and enjoy lunch. We pass this way a couple of times a year and it will be our stopping place for lunch each time. Don't miss this gem of a tavern/diner. read more

Great atmosphere! I would not have expected how nice the inside was from the outside exterior. It has a large wood cabin look. The large wood stove wasn't going but some chairs and benches around it made me picture sitting around it on a snowy day with a hot beverage! Service was great. We had to try the chicken and jojos! The chicken is broasted so crispy and juicy on the inside. The jojos were more like potato rounds and not really breaded like I was expecting. It was very good! (I have a favorite chicken and jo jo place and this didn't quite beat them out). Great price for the amount of food! Ketchup ranch fry sauce all offered for dipping. I also had a side salad and it was spring greens with olives, tomatoes and cucumbers! I was expecting more like ice berg based on the type of establishment. It definitely exceeded my expectations! As soon as we walked in the smell of the fryer oil hits you!! We found a booth and the server came right over with our plates (sheet s of paper) and took our drink orders. Well kind of... first I asked about a cocktail menu, silly me!! I ordered a lemon drop with added fruit. She walked away before I was done and brought me back something in a short glass on ice. Okay. One sip - yikes!!! Server came back and asked if I could guess what was in it?? Raspberry vodka and cranberry juice. Anyway we got the broasted chicken. It was yummy! My daughter and I are on a road trip, just left Crater Lake and were headed toward Newport and starving. I kept surfing looking for a place to eat (while she drove;), and Manley's Tavern got great reviews. GPS was a little wrong on location and we almost gave up but we stumbled upon it. As we are two women driving, the outside looked like a fantastic movie. Harley's positioned perfectly, a very masculine structure with a warning about no minors. We couldn't help but look at one another and smile nervously. With COVID, they were amazingly on point! A tether to keep the public from meandering in and sitting. Masks required clearly stated. Six feet seating. Clean tables and restroom. The waitress was impeccable. Personable and attentive. We wanted to try their broasted chicken but the second we saw chili, we were done for. The beer was cold, the chili was heavenly, the salad was crisp and the fries were crispy tender. My daughter devoured her chili dog, and her happiness was from eyes to grinning smile.
