What a great stop for lunch! Both sandwiches were huge and delicious! Service was excellent! Warned us the kitchen had a large order ahead so wait would be a little longer. Appreciated the heads up before ordering. read more

I don't think there's enough time in a day to explain how much this place needs to improve. The old owners were rude to Truck drivers but at least their food was reasonably priced and the food was good. When starting a restaurant you want to build a clientele it's better to start with lower prices and have the best food and service possible to get them in the door. People are creatures of habit. If they enjoy their experience eating at your restaurant they'll continue to come in, but for the love of God, lower your prices be courteous to your customers and attentive to their needs. Don't just act nice to the people you know and ignore the ones you don't. # 1 your prices are way too high. # 2 the menu is very limited # 3 unfriendly Service very disconnected # 4 biscuits and gravy were shit thin like bread read more

Rude welcome, no breakfast. Stopped in with family (party of 6) on the way to Crater Lake. The woman at the front immediately complained that our group was too big, the kitchen was backed up, and we should've called ahead. When we asked how long the wait might be, she snapped, "How am I supposed to know?" We sat down, tried to order coffee, and got more attitude--so we left. Food might be slow, but there's no excuse for being rude. Won't be back. read more

Excellent patty melt and jalapeño Mac salad. KJ did a good job keeping my water glass full. The only downside? No WiFi. KJ explained that some locals would takeover a booth, order a coffee and use the WiFi for hours. Would I return? Yes! read more

Mr. John is such a peach. As soon as we walked in he made us feel welcomed. The food was also delicious. Would highly recommend! Had the breakfast sandwich with hash browns, and it was delicious Thank you for the trip recommendations read more

BLT was actually pretty good but I'll be honest: the older server guy was kind of a dick. Straight up, he just wasn't friendly. He didn't ask me how the sandwich was, he dropped the check next to my empty water glass when I obviously needed more water, etc. Bro, you don't have to work here if you don't want to. read more

Cute little cafe. We stopped for breakfast on our drive to Reno. Service was friendly. Food was good. My husband and I both opted for the all meat skillet. It was a good choice and the perfect serving size. read more

Dropped in for some breakfast and it was delicious. The service, food and coffee is top notch. If you're in the area it's worth stopping in.

It gives Luke's Diner from Gilmore Girls vibes. Once I made that connection, I eased up on my original apprehension on the place. It's a small tourist town on a highway in Eastern Oregon. Remember where you are when you arrive. They open early and serve a good selection of food. But they are understaffed. That's to be expected with the small population of the area. Many people in the area are retirees or commuting to a bigger town for work. Be patient and don't expect a lot of super warm and fluffy customer service. read more

Stopped for Breakfast on the way from Bend to Ashland. Very delicious. Pancake with eggs and sausage for me; bisquits and gravy for my hubby. Plenty of food ant a reasonable price. Too bad they will be closing at the end of the year. Hopefully they will find a buyer. This is a good spot to stop on the North/South trip on Hwy 97. read more

We were staying at a hotel nearby, and wanted to get a quick lunch before heading to Crater Lake. The big yellow EAT sign was interesting, and actually got us to decide that this could be a fun place to go. We were promptly seated and found that the menu had a good selection. My husband's hamburger was huge, and he said it was one of the best he has ever had. The fries were hot and fresh. I had a pastrami sandwich that was very nice with macaroni salad. The macaroni salad had some jalapeño and red onion that gave it a little bit of a kick but it was not too spicy. We found out that the owner was our server, and he was very friendly. Already looking forward to breakfast tomorrow!! read more

The food here was absolutely wonderful. It was hot and came with everything you could want. The service as well was great, it seems as though they have one server and potentially two chefs, yet the food was hot and quick and we got seated and had our order taken quickly. The ambiance of it all was nice, gave of small town diner vibes and featured mixes booths and a nice bar area. Would recommend if you're ever passing through Chemult read more

Was delicious, coffee was always filled and service was as great as can be. Mom and Pop place so be courteous, they are working hard to keep their place open for people that like good food. read more

Service is great. The numerous servers work together as a well oiled machine. The four of us all ordered different breakfast items; each were delicious. The servers checked on us periodically never too much to be a bother. We recommend this diner for breakfast for sure. read more

I love it when I find a good place to eat in a small town. The decor is a mix of fishing, cowboy, country, and Christmas with a dash of rural diner. It works. I had my usual on the road BLT but this time with a side of macaroni salad. My husband had a grilled ham and cheese with fries. Both sandwiches were very good as were the sides. My BLT was properly made with lightly toasted bread, a slathering of real mayonaise, thick cut crispy bacon, fresh tomatoes and whole leaf lettuce. The mac salad had small bits of jalapeño mixed in with the creamy dressing. It was a nice touch and added a kick to what is usually a very bland side. Service was quick and business like - I think it was the owner who waited on us. Food came out right away and everything tasted fresh. I would definately stop here again if traveling highway 97 through central Oregon. read more

EAT HERE. If you are headed to Crater Lake NP this is the last good meal you will purchase until you leave the park. After my wife asked if the corned beef hash was homemade, the owner confirmed he made it himself so we both ordered it. Super good. The pies had all sold out so the only other food item I can review is the coffee and I was surprised how good it was. The other highlight of the visit is the waiter/owner, his wife is the cook. I'd hangout and drink beers with this guy if the drive home wasn't so long. Don't give him a hard time though because I don't think he tolerates too much tourist BS. You'll love this place, don't judge it from the outside. read more

When we arrived there was a "Closing at 1 p.m. Today" sign on the door and since it was shortly before 1 p.m. we almost left. But, we opened the door and asked could still feed us. The owner said, " You got here 18 minutes before 1; yes, but you can only order lunch.". They had apparently run out of many food items due to a busy few days of hunting season. We ordered two burgers, fries, and Cokes. The burgers and fries were excellent! Cokes were the best fountain Cokes we have had in a very long time. We live out of state and are rarely in this area. If we lived closer, we would be returning to KJ's often. We loved our meal; we loved our visit with the owner. Thank you! read more

We were starving on our way back from Crater Lake and had seen this place earlier that morning when getting gas a the Pilot next door. We had a great burger! My husband had the cheeseburger in Paradise which was excellent but too spicy for me. The gentleman that waited on us was very nice even though he had a lot going on with fire nearby and road closures. Nothing fancy but clean and I love these out of the way places and supporting businesses that are not chains when last year of Covid was hard on them. My personal physician in Vegas gave me $10 to give to a small business here in Oregon so we left it for the tip! read more

Great stop along Highway 97 for anyone driving through the small little town of Chemult in Oregon. We were driving from Crater Lake to Portland. The cafes within Crater National Park were pretty busy so we decided to pick lunch on the way to Portland. Chemult was pretty much the first town we hit on the way. The cafe is right on the highway, neat and clean with very friendly staff. There were a few people dining in there. The decor was adorable- with themes of camping, fishing, adventure and vintage town. I was able to place an order to go. Our food was ready in about 10 minutes- a pastrami, a veggie sandwich and kids burgers. Food was simple and straightforward. We weren't very impressed with the taste but it works well for the rural setting. read more

Interesting stop. Looking for a quick bite on a holiday weekend. Definitely a small town, rural cafe. Clean with a friendly staff. Unfortunately they were out of several items, so we settled on French toast, sausage and eggs. We had opted for counter service and chatting with the person we assume was the owner - nice man. Service was a little slow, but the food was decent. The restroom is down some steep steps. Not sure if there was an elevator. Overall a nice stop. read more

Fantastic! Food was great, hot and delicious! Get the homemade cinnamon roll Service was tops too.

KJ's is Nothing fancy... but the burger and fries and turkey sandwich with fries were great. Toasted bun, fresh lettuce & tomato & lightly sautéed onions. Yumm! Turkey sandwich also gets rave reviews. We were SO hungry. Service was fast and friendly! Restroom clean. KJ's is like stepping back in time. I would rather support a great local cafe like KJ's than the Pilot truck stop next door! read more

John the owner is wonderful. The food is excellent. Highly recommend this cute restaurant!!

BOOM! You're on a 30+ hour road trip with your boys and you get in a massive argument. Shots are fired, feelings are hu--you all desperately need a pick-me-up. You stumble upon this unassuming gem, expecting greasy toast and overcooked eggs. Your expectations are wrong. KJ's may be the last great American diner in the country. Our server, Doug, a war veteran with a heart of pure platinum, greeted us with warmth, hugs, and the freedom to order anything on the menu. Well-priced and consistently tasty, KJ's was an unforgettable experience, with a broad selection of egg dishes and bottomless coffee. The restaurant exudes character and humble finesse, from the signs in the bathroom to all the service staff. Make KJ's your next stop when passing through Oregon! read more

We stopped in for lunch on our road trip from crater lake to Eugene. When we walked in we noticed the eclectic decorations and were immediately greeted by the staff. The food came quickly and it was fine. I would stop here on another road trip if needed, but the food wasn't anything to write home about. read more

1800 miles into our cross country road trip, and this was easily the beat breakfast we had so far. Small family owned place, nothing fancy, but the food was very well prepared. Seems like only two people, cook and server...but they did everything possible to keep up and keep patrons informed of timing. Thoroughly enjoyed my omelette with kielbasa, onion and kielbasa...and the hash browns were fresh and browned to perfection. Hubby had eggs over easy with kielbasa and hash browns. Very well fed and ready for our long hike in Crater Lake Natl Park. read more

The old woman working at 1030 on Wednesday August 3rd was so incredibly rude. She did not acknowledge we entered, she ignored us, then when I asked to be seated she said she'll get to me when she has a clean table. The place was EMPTY with a few dirty tables. She was so awful we left, I rather eat ANYWHERE else than to give this place money. Don't waste your time on extremely poor and rude service. At least say "I'll be right with you". She's well into her 60s and still doesn't know how to treat people, guess that's why she works there read more

We stopped by this place on our trip back from crater lake national park. The place was so beautifully maintained with all the Halloween decorations. We ordered Waffle fries and hot chocolate. So we go in this place for some breakfast before hitting the road and the owner (middle aged white guy with glasses) just starts complaining about the "illegals" making their way to Chemult. I don't know how this place even has over a one star rating. This is the typical "If you ain't from round here we don't like you" type of joint. We stopped in for lunch and the owner was a complete asshole and embarrassment for a restaurant owners I've ever met. This man was disrespectful to my girlfriends entire family and her grandmother. This man and his wife were just extremely rude the food was shit it was all frozen non fresh food. Apparently his ice cream and ranch fell off the truck? Like we're a bunch of idiots? Just tell us you don't have it instead of "it fell off the truck" this guys brains must have fell out of his mother's womb when he was born because he obviously can't run a restaurant for shit. Will never come back to this place next time I come to Oregon I'd rather eat a beef jerky stick from a crackhead than eat here again. read more
