The old owners were rude to Truck drivers but at least their food was reasonably priced and the food was good. When starting a restaurant you want to build a clientele it's better to start with lower prices and have the best food and service possible to get them in the door. People are creatures of habit. If they enjoy their experience eating at your restaurant they'll continue to come in, but for the love of God, lower your prices be courteous to your customers and attentive to their needs. Rude welcome, no breakfast. Stopped in with family (party of 6) on the way to Crater Lake. The woman at the front immediately complained that our group was too big, the kitchen was backed up, and we should've called ahead. When we asked how long the wait might be, she snapped, "How am I supposed to know?" We sat down, tried to order coffee, and got more attitude--so we left. Remember where you are when you arrive. They open early and serve a good selection of food. But they are understaffed. That's to be expected with the small population of the area. We were staying at a hotel nearby, and wanted to get a quick lunch before heading to Crater Lake. The big yellow EAT sign was interesting, and actually got us to decide that this could be a fun place to go. We were promptly seated and found that the menu had a good selection. My husband's hamburger was huge, and he said it was one of the best he has ever had. The fries were hot and fresh. I had a pastrami sandwich that was very nice with macaroni salad. The macaroni salad had some jalapeño and red onion that gave it a little bit of a kick but it was not too spicy. We found out that the owner was our server, and he was very friendly. I love it when I find a good place to eat in a small town. The decor is a mix of fishing, cowboy, country, and Christmas with a dash of rural diner. It works. I had my usual on the road BLT but this time with a side of macaroni salad. My husband had a grilled ham and cheese with fries. Both sandwiches were very good as were the sides. My BLT was properly made with lightly toasted bread, a slathering of real mayonaise, thick cut crispy bacon, fresh tomatoes and whole leaf lettuce. The mac salad had small bits of jalapeño mixed in with the creamy dressing. It was a nice touch and added a kick to what is usually a very bland side. Service was quick and business like - I think it was the owner who waited on us. Food came out right away and everything tasted fresh. I would definately stop here again if traveling highway 97 through central Oregon. read more

When we arrived there was a "Closing at 1 p.m. Today" sign on the door and since it was shortly before 1 p.m. we almost left. But, we opened the door and asked could still feed us. The owner said, " You got here 18 minutes before 1; yes, but you can only order lunch.". They had apparently run out of many food items due to a busy few days of hunting season. We ordered two burgers, fries, and Cokes. The burgers and fries were excellent! Cokes were the best fountain Cokes we have had in a very long time. We live out of state and are rarely in this area. EAT HERE. If you are headed to Crater Lake NP this is the last good meal you will purchase until you leave the park. After my wife asked if the corned beef hash was homemade, the owner confirmed he made it himself so we both ordered it. Super good. The pies had all sold out so the only other food item I can review is the coffee and I was surprised how good it was. The other highlight of the visit is the waiter/owner, his wife is the cook. I'd hangout and drink beers with this guy if the drive home wasn't so long. Don't give him a hard time though because I don't think he tolerates too much tourist BS. We were starving on our way back from Crater Lake and had seen this place earlier that morning when getting gas a the Pilot next door. We had a great burger! My husband had the cheeseburger in Paradise which was excellent but too spicy for me. The gentleman that waited on us was very nice even though he had a lot going on with fire nearby and road closures. Nothing fancy but clean and I love these out of the way places and supporting businesses that are not chains when last year of Covid was hard on them. My personal physician in Vegas gave me $10 to give to a small business here in Oregon so we left it for the tip! read more

Great stop along Highway 97 for anyone driving through the small little town of Chemult in Oregon. We were driving from Crater Lake to Portland. The cafes within Crater National Park were pretty busy so we decided to pick lunch on the way to Portland. Chemult was pretty much the first town we hit on the way. The cafe is right on the highway, neat and clean with very friendly staff. There were a few people dining in there. The decor was adorable- with themes of camping, fishing, adventure and vintage town. I was able to place an order to go. Our food was ready in about 10 minutes- a pastrami, a veggie sandwich and kids burgers. Food was simple and straightforward. We weren't very impressed with the taste but it works well for the rural setting. read more

The old woman working at 1030 on Wednesday August 3rd was so incredibly rude. She did not acknowledge we entered, she ignored us, then when I asked to be seated she said she'll get to me when she has a clean table. The place was EMPTY with a few dirty tables. She was so awful we left, I rather eat ANYWHERE else than to give this place money. Don't waste your time on extremely poor and rude service. At least say "I'll be right with you". We stopped by this place on our trip back from crater lake national park. The place was so beautifully maintained with all the Halloween decorations. We ordered Waffle fries and hot chocolate. Fries were simply amazing - crispy and fresh! Didn't like hot chocolate much as it was too sweet for me. In general I like low sugar in my drinks. read more
