The not so good: my grilled chicken sandwich was crazy DRY. Bread was good, fries are soaked in oil but somehow still good to me. Pizza was misleading because it had tasty toppings and a good crust but was so wet in the middle that I'm not sure what was leaking all over my hands. The place is a mix between a dive bar and casual diner restaurant split into two. While it's not something I would ever call a hidden gem or a must try, it's passable in a pinch that's open late-ish where most places are closed by 8pm

September 2, 2025 - Diamond Lake, Oregon…read more We had a great experience here! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Diamond Lake Special pizza and, since it was a bit warm inside, decided to sit outdoors. There's a refrigerated section where we grabbed a beer and a cider--just a heads-up, you can take alcoholic drinks outside, but only if the containers are unopened. After placing our order, we were given a number and then we went outside and chose a picnic table with a beautiful view of Diamond Lake. When the pizza was ready, a staff member came out, called our number, and brought the pizza to our table. The pizza itself was delicious--great crust and flavorful toppings. We're currently staying at the RV park nearby, which unfortunately has zero cell service, so we really appreciated being able to get some signal here. Definitely a nice bonus! They also have a walk up window to order ice cream, if that's all you want.

The kids' menu was great, the chili was AMAZING, and the burgers were delicious! What really stood out, though, was the service. Truly some of the best service we've ever experienced. Expect to be greeted with a hearty "What can I get you, darlin'" or something similar. Because they have so many options, you will be talking to Shona or her right hand gal for awhile. And they are so patient asking all the questions and waiting while you make a choice. The covered dining area is spic and span. They work hard to keep it neat with picnic tables covered in cheery red and white. There is even a table for the kids, so cute! The first time we were there, I settled on a Philly cheesesteak with coleslaw. OMG, that cheesesteak was so full of perfectly grilled beef and gooey cheese, peppers and onions, fresh bun too. They give you an entire pint of cole slaw! I was still eating it four days later when we returned after camping. This was a really fine slaw too --- clearly homemade and not drowning in mayo, just a touch to keep it together. The second time we visited, I had a nice basic grilled pepper jack cheese sandwich that had a fine crunch and a good amount of cheese. Grill marks = yes, please! Hubby ordered a hamburger with a fried egg with fries. Tasty, filling and juicy! Club sandwich with chili on second visit. Lots of meat and award-winning chili worked for him! Couple of reasons I dropped a star. The provided outhouse was a little messy. Secondly, was the fries were surprisingly soggy. I even ordered extra crispy with my grilled cheese, and they were still limp. Shona asked me if they were crispy enough (very kind to check, don't you think?). I just didn't have the heart to say "No." Those folks are so nice! I just couldn't. It was so shocking because otherwise, both meals were perfect. It is a mystery. In summary, if you happen to be in Chiloquin area, stop by The Burger Shack. You would be hard pressed to find a friendlier staff or better casual dining options that taste soooo good. I had to go twice in 5 days!
