There is a reason why The Burger Shack's parking lot is always jam packed! Their food is delicious and their service the friendliest ever. Expect to be greeted with a hearty "What can I get you, darlin'" or something similar. Because they have so many options, you will be talking to Shona or her right hand gal for awhile. And they are so patient asking all the questions and waiting while you make a choice. The covered dining area is spic and span. They work hard to keep it neat with picnic tables covered in cheery red and white. There is even a table for the kids, so cute! The first time we were there, I settled on a Philly cheesesteak with coleslaw. OMG, that cheesesteak was so full of perfectly grilled beef and gooey cheese, peppers and onions, fresh bun too. They give you an entire pint of cole slaw! I was still eating it four days later when we returned after camping. This was a really fine slaw too --- clearly homemade and not drowning in mayo, just a touch to keep it together. The second time we visited, I had a nice basic grilled pepper jack cheese sandwich that had a fine crunch and a good amount of cheese. Grill marks = yes, please! Hubby ordered a hamburger with a fried egg with fries. Tasty, filling and juicy! Club sandwich with chili on second visit. Lots of meat and award-winning chili worked for him! Couple of reasons I dropped a star. The provided outhouse was a little messy. Secondly, was the fries were surprisingly soggy. I even ordered extra crispy with my grilled cheese, and they were still limp. Shona asked me if they were crispy enough (very kind to check, don't you think?). I just didn't have the heart to say "No." Those folks are so nice! I just couldn't. It was so shocking because otherwise, both meals were perfect. It is a mystery. In summary, if you happen to be in Chiloquin area, stop by The Burger Shack. You would be hard pressed to find a friendlier staff or better casual dining options that taste soooo good. We were passing through Chiloquin on our way to our hotel and needed to grab a bite to eat. The only place still open and had decent reviews was the Burger Shack so we swung by. Glad we did, the service and hospitality here were great and the food was just as delicious. We ordered the Juicy Lucy and a Buckaroo. The burgers come with either French fries, onion rings, or fresh cut potato chips. We opted for the onion rings and potato chips. The onion rings were really good. The potato chips weren't the crispiest but solid regardless. Juicy Lucy is a heavy burger with two beef patties with cheese in the middle. We didn't realize how much food the Juicy Lucy was going to be, we could have shared it and been satisfied. There is only outdoor seating. The seating is under a covered canopy. I would recommend Burger Shack, and would definitely if I'm in the area. The food isn't the healthiest, so definitely keep that in mind. read more

I'd heard they were good, but holy smokes! I finally got a chance to stop in today. It's a super cute set-up and convenient location for locals and travellers alike! As a vegetarian on a strict budget, my options were limited, but they were kind enough to "throw something together" for me that was beyond generous - and absolutely scrumptious! The milkshake was great, too. Next time I'm in a position to splurge on a full meal, I'll definitely be back. Based on what I tasted today, I can't wait to try the more of their menu. After the year+ I've had, they restored a little of my faith in humanity and helped me reclaim a bit of my dignity. Thank you all so much for your kindness and grace. read more

Exceptional! We had juicy cheeseburgers, hand-cut fries with house fry sauce, HAND-DIPPED all beef corn dogs, and finished with a real banana split. Super nostalgic feel, staff was hustling and orders were coming out of the kitchen fast (though it was packed and nobody seemed to mind waiting about for orders), several covered outdoor picnic tables provided plenty of seating. Food is good. My only issue is the frys. They are made with baking potatoes and just aren't that good. Go for the tator tots or potato salad. Oh and if your a banana split lover. You can't beat the 5 dollar banana split loaded up. read more

I love this place! The employees are very polite and friendly. The food is excellent, fresh and tasty. We love the fresh cod and shrimp for a decent price on Saturdays, three large pieces of fish and 3 jumbo shrimp fried in a light batter. We love the sauces and enjoy the cole slaw instead of fries.
