We stopped in for lunch and the owner was a complete asshole and embarrassment for a restaurant owners I've ever met. This man was disrespectful to my girlfriends entire family and her grandmother. This man and his wife were just extremely rude the food was shit it was all frozen non fresh food. Apparently his ice cream and ranch fell off the truck? Like we're a bunch of idiots? Just tell us you don't have it instead of "it fell off the truck" this guys brains must have fell out of his mother's womb when he was born because he obviously can't run a restaurant for shit. Probably the worst breakfast we've had in a long time. The staff ranged from completely uninterested to just plain gruff and rude. None of them seemed happy to be there and appeared to just be going through the motions. Omelet ended up being more of a bad scramble. We stopped there last Sunday after leaving a vacation in Bend. We should've eaten in Bend before we left. This place was a huge disappointment after reading the reviews. There is a sign on the side that says under new ownership so maybe that's why our experience did not even come close to matching the Yelp reviews. First thing that hit me when I got out of the car was the grease smell. It was not appealing. The entrance and the front door were filthy. Yuck! There were 3 or 4 employees (owners?) sitting at the counter watching TV and no customers. We were seated right away. The employees were pretty friendly. While we were there two customers ordered take out and four other ladies came in and sat together. The food; what can I say? It was pretty bad. I ordered a BLT on sourdough with macaroni salad instead of fries because of the grease smell. The server warned me that the salad had jalapeno in it. No problem, I love jalapenos. However, when it arrived I couldn't taste any. The salad was bland. The BLT was awful considering that there appeared to be at least 4 employees in the place and they couldn't even put together a simple sandwich that showed any care. The lettuce was actually black (black!!) around the edges. Only one side of the sandwich had mayo, about a quarter teaspoon. The sourdough bread was the cheap kind with little to no sourdough taste. My husband had a patty melt with under cooked fries. The only good thing about the food was that it was pretty quick and not overpriced. Finally, the place is dirty, especially the dark dingy basement area where the ancient bathrooms are. Everything about it was old and gross. Those employees that spent all their time watching TV while we were there should be put to work cleaning the place! Needless to say we won't be back. Plus, I really have to question the value of Yelp reviews because this one had pretty good reviews. Maybe they are all friends of the owners? read more

The English muffins are soft and toasted and buttered perfectly. There was a good portion of egg and the ham was delicious. We loved the hash browns, which were the shredded kind, but clearly hand cut. This was hands down the best breakfast sandwich that I've ever had in a lonnnng time. Wow! Good Breakfast. Only open for breakfast and lunch. We visited KJ's Cafe recently for breakfast on our way through town. Formally called Wagon Wheel Cafe, and you'll see the wagon wheel sign on top of the building, but it's had new owners and a new name since 2015. What we liked: Good menu, lots of options. Fast, friendly service. Food was good and plenty of it. The coffee was okay, and refilled several times while we ate. Nice stop. read more

My husband and I were traveling to Crater Lake from Portland and stopped here for lunch. What a great find. My husband was craving for a simple old fashion burger. They offer just that. He had a regular burger with fries and drink, which was fab. I wanted an extra flare and ordered Cheese Burger in Paradise. It had gooey cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, Canadian bacon, and more. Yum. The best thing was the beef patty, though. It was juicy and flavorful. We saw a long line for Subway nearby. No offense to Subway, but people don't know what they are missing. My family stayed at Dawson's Lodge and walked across the street to this cafe. Very friendly I'm guessing owner/waiter came and served us. The food came out fast. I got my veggie hash, hubby got a veggie omelet, pancakes were good and my older kids said the country fried steak was pretty good. We were passing through Chemult on our way from the S.F.Bay Area to Bend, OR. Long drive and we were hungry. We did not see much in Chemult that was appealing as far as dining options were concerned. KJ's Café looked like the best option, so in we went. Good Choice! Service was excellent. Food was tasty. Prices reasonable. I love milkshakes, so I ordered one for the road. It, too, was a treat. We stopped here on the way to Bend, OR. This was exactly what we were looking for along the way. I got a half sandwich and chili and my Hubby got the chili burger. My sandwich was super fresh and delicious! My husband enjoyed his burger too. I have to compliment the staff too. This was our second time at KJ's cafe. The first time (a couple of years ago) we had great customer but the food was just ok. This time the food was great. I walked in the place to get breakfast in a good mood and left aggravated. The waitress asked me what I wanted before I even had a chance to look a the menu. She seemed perturbed I wasn't ready to order. After looking at the menu I decided on the corned beef hash. Then she was ignoring me. I waved her down and placed my order. When she brought my dish, something was missing, the hash. I was served hash browns with a few small pieces of corned beef mixed in. That's not corned beef hash in any stretch of the imagination. I would have been happier if they'd given me some hash out of a can, it would have actually been hash and not the crap they passed off to me. To top it off it gave me a stomach ache. Great find along the drive. Stopped for breakfast and we were greeted by a Vietnam Vet who sat us, waited on us and entertained us. Food portions were huge. The biscuit was larger than a softball. Cooked to perfection and at 8:40 in the morning,they even accommodated my son's request for Grilled cheese and fries. read more
