Badlands is a fun little spot. The alcohol is good for a young distillery but a couple items still need a little finesse. Staff was friendly and took our order right away. We all liked the sandwiches and salad. The cheese plate was pretty basic and really should include more exotic cheeses. But it was good with the warm bread they included. We would certainly come again. Especially if they had live music on the little corner stage. read more

This was an excellent stop for breakfast sandwiches and artisan rye cocktails. We stopped in for a Sunday morning brunch and drinks with friends, after a weekend in La Pine. The space is cool and well-designed and curated with interesting details, such as an old car in front, and old rifles that belonged to the owners' grandfathers. The bagels were great, and the egg sandwiches everyone in our group ordered were tasty. We also had a rye old fashioned and rye hot toddy, and they were excellent! Highly recommend this spot. High quality food and drinks in a fun setting. There are tables inside and also picnic tables to sit outside with your dog and friends. read more

Love the space. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Music playing inside at a reasonable volume. Bathrooms are clean. Inside is very clean and service was great. They have seasonal specials which I'm always sold on. They pay a tribute to the owner's family heritage by displaying their shotguns and we saw Trevor himself checking in. We got the Irish coffee, flight, pumpkin buzz, and bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich. Flight was $5. Very appropriately priced! Both drinks were great. Very well balanced. And the egg in the bagel had a solid amount of pepper and flavor in it. Very happy we stopped by! read more

I wanted to like this place as we were traveling and was a quick stop in. But immediately I felt the service was poor, unfriendly, and left me feeling like I was more of a bother than anything. I felt so rushed in ordering that I had to go up a few minutes later after I sat at my table and went and ordered a beer. It was really chilly inside, so that felt uncomfortable as well. The decor was kind of cute and they had some merch. The hummus plate was good, enjoyable. Restrooms were clean. Can't say, even if I was back in the area that I would stop in again and that's unfortunate. Maybe others will enjoy it. read more

My wife and I have eaten here a few times and the food has been fresh and delicious. Lot of selections on beers, ales, IPA and cocktails. Their's several food carts, live outdoor entertainment. The ambience is great very rustic and plenty seating indoors and outdoors. The staff is friendly and attentive. I recommend trying this place. read more

The only place in to LaPine to stop for coffee. Make sure to try the cardamon latte or some straight up espresso. Great service at the coffee bar or make your way to the cocktail bar! Good food with food trucks also in the back. If you want smooth coffee with the right proportions of milk and foam for whatever you order, this is the place! read more

What a gem! Wonderful cocktails (my rye, sage simple syrup and lemon juice cocktail was amazing). And a choice of bagels or sandwiches. Amazing booze! I had to buy a bottle of their Rye whiskey. So good!! And everything is served with a smile. Not expensive either. She turned the music down a bit when we asked and wow, I was truly impressed by their positive attitude. Definitely will be a regular stop for me going to Sunriver. They will be getting more food carts in their courtyard as well. read more

Stopped for lunch on a Saturday, and the place was empty. After finishing we couldn't understand why the place wasn't busier. Very cute inside Great Lumberjack sandwich and a really nice kale and Brussels sprout salad. The proprietor was very nice and helpful. Definitely will be back during the next road trip! read more

The food and drinks here are fantastic! Stopped for a quick bite to eat and was pleasantly surprised by this quaint, well run distillery. Not being a distilled alcohol drinker (I'm am beer guy), I am very pleased that this Artisan distillery has collaborated with two different Deschutes County breweries to assist in producing two excellent (and radically different) 'beers'. A Saison with Sunriver brewing, using Badlands artisan cucumber gin....and an Imperial Brown with Cascade using Badlands Rye casks. They're both great! And if you happen to stop by and are looking for a quick IPA or other beer, Badlands has a small (but inviting) tap list. The outdoor ambience is wonderful with very effective screening from adjacent Hwy 97. read more

In la pine it can be hard to find a place to grab some food. Badlands is by far favorite. I love the breakfast sandwiches. staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great. which is pretty hard to find in La pine. would recommend heavily if your looking for a place to grab a drink with friends, have a quick meal or grab a coffee to go. I fully back this place and am glad it's here in la pine. read more

I just stumbled upon this place and feel it's very noteworthy. I live in sunriver and don't make it to LaPine often for food or drinks. Almost never. Just happened to be in town and wanted a quick happy hour drink and snack so I noticed a couple of reviews for this distillery and gave it a try. Delicious high quality boutique vodka (and other spirits but I'm a vodka girl). I had the plum vodka lavender thing and a hummus plate, which was fresh, simple, and delicious. The plum vodka is very interesting so I decided to try a taste of the plain and plum... I went with a bottle of the plum which has a hint of whisky taste and will be a nice little evening sip treat. I'm thinking of gifts now. Sweet little new small biz tucked away off 97 with a couple food carts, kitchen inside, and outdoor and indoor seating. Recommend! read more

The fanciest place to get drinks in La Pine, but also the most unique cocktail experience in town by far. I didn't get a chance to try the food (although the bison chili and sandwiches were tempting) so this review is based solely upon my beverage experience. Loved the sampler for a first time visit: 4 lovely small batch liquors including a plum vodka for $5. Also ordered the Sage Advice with rye whiskey, sage simple syrup, and lemon juice = perfect cocktail to enjoy during a high desert afternoon with family and friends. Mom had the Lavender Fizz. Service was kind and genuine and indie music added to the atmosphere. Looking forward to enjoying their outdoor seating in the warmer months and trying the Gin Mint Julep! read more

I've had a couple of the sandwiches so far and they are unique and tasty. I'm not a big likker drinker but tried a sip or two and yes, they know how to make it. The coffee was robust on a winter's day. The staff is great, and they have outside tables which I'm looking forward to sitting at now that it's warming up. Loved the whiskey...very unique! I definitely bought a bottle after having a drink. Tomato soup was delish on a cold 10 degree evening. The young gal working at the counter was very nice & did a great job too! The reason for 3 instead of 5 stars is the lack of thought & effort put into the inside space. The walls are bright white and the lighting is very bright. The space has zero ambiance or comfort. A TV screen & warm lighting in the evening would do wonders. I hope the owner reads this & takes it to heart...it's honestly meant to be constructive. We'd like to come back as we live in La Pine and love the location, outdoor space & food trucks in back. Please consider creating a more comforting tasting space. read more

The cocktails and food is amazing. However the owners of the company does not give two cents about customers. I have visited Badlands. four times, and each time I leave feeling like the drinks and food I ordered were really annoying to the staff. I write the review because we took family from out of town the last time and cold reception was not what I wanted for my visitors. Too bad they just can not stick to making great Vodka, and not be customer facing. Product is awesome, just do not expect to be greeted with a smile. read more

Every time I have gone out to eat for the last month I have left the restaurant disappointed and wishing I had just made dinner at home. It would have been cheaper, taste better and be overall more pleasant if I had. Well I am happy to report that the "trend of regrets" has ended today! Badlands Distillery was charming, had great service, provided delicious fresh food and an ambiance I wish I could duplicate in my own home. They have these beautiful live edge wood tables that are truly a work of art. The tiles on the ceiling are brilliant. Even the bathrooms are well done! The staff was excellent: Super fun, attentive, thoughtful and passionate. The menu is simple and basic, but everything we ordered we loved. Warm ciabatta sandwiches where the bread actually tasted like it was baked during this decade and a kale salad with all the right toppings. Sounds like a $22 sandwich kinda place doesn't it? Nope! Super reasonable. I definitely didn't leave thinking it would be cheaper to make at home myself. Nor would it have tasted better or been overall more pleasant. Worth it!! read more
