The server was incredibly apologetic.

I found this place because I was looking for nigiri near me and it was the closest restaurant to my…read morehouse that had it. When I saw the yelp reviews, I was super excited to try this place out. My mom and I came around 6:30ish tonight (Friday night) and the place was completely empty. We were immediately greeted and told to pick any table we wanted. There were 5 4-top tables inside the restaurant as well as counter seating, however, it doesn't seem they use the counters for serving as they were full of to-go orders and other things. I'm sure if they were full they would make room. The place is nice and homey and decorated super cute. It's a small restaurant but comfortable. By the time we were finishing up all the tables were full and it was still a reasonable volume. Our server was the nicest woman ever! She was super attentive even while taking care of every single table in the restaurant. She was extremely nice and super helpful. There's not one bad thing to say about her. We decided to order the sashimi appetizer, the miso soup, the paradise roll, and 6 pieces of sushi from the a la carte menu as well as a small side of fried rice. We also got one of the cold sake bottles and a glass of the house white wine (Chardonnay). First, the sake bottle was so cute it was pink and our server placed it in a wine cooler type thing to keep it cold. My wine glass was huge and filled to the top! It was more like 2-3 glasses of wine rather than 1 which I loved! As for the food, my favorite dishes were the fried rice, the paradise roll, and the miso soup. The sashimi appetizer was good, however, the fish was slightly fishy tasting which in my mind means it's not as fresh as it could be. It was still good just tasted slightly off than what I'm used to. As for my a la carte sushi pieces I got the salmon, tuna, ika, ebi, octopus, and tamago. I have a few things to mention regarding these pieces. First of all, I know some people may say this is a weird thing to complain about but the fish pieces were far too large. Compared to the amount of rice, the fish pieces were overtaking the rice. Second, some of the pieces of fish again tasted not as fresh as they could be, with some of the fish being so tough I couldn't even chew it (specifically the squid and the octopus). These fish are supposed to be like butter from experience. All in all, I had a great experience and the food was overall really good, just not sure if I would order sushi again next time. I feel like I'll try out the Thai food menu next.

Opened since December, Favor Sushi is located in a strip mall on Powerline a few doors down from…read morethe Dunkin Donuts. Inside the restaurant is a bar where you can sit and watch the sushi being prepared and 6 small tables inside with an additional table outside. It's simply decorated but very clean. This is the first restaurant for this family owned business but they have supplied the prepared sushi for Fresh Market and other area stores for a long time. When I came for dinner the restaurant was being run by the owner. He works by himself unless it's busy and then his sister in law pitches in. I ordered an iced green honeydew bubble tea, ginger salad, shrimp gyoza, and a California roll. Everything came to $20. While the gyoza was air frying the owner prepared my bubble tea which was delicious. It tasted exactly like fresh honeydew melon. The boba was rectangular and brightly colored instead of the usual tapioca pearls. I took my dinner to go and when I got home I unpacked a feast. The ginger salad was beautiful, fresh, and crisp with the perfect amount of ginger dressing, I could have eaten two of the salads. The shrimp gyoza was delicious with a spicy dipping sauce and the California roll was 15 large pieces of yummy fresh sushi. I will never buy the hard dried out California roll from Publix again after eating the amazing one here. The owner is a great guy. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. My meal provided enough leftovers for lunch the next day. A cold light meal like this is what I crave in the summer heat. In addition to the sushi and bubble tea they also serve soup, poke bowls, and ramen. From the time I ordered to when I got my food was less than 10 minutes including chatting with the owner. He said it would have been quicker but he had to fry the gyoza. He cares about your time and the quality of your food. I am so happy to have found Favor Sushi.

It was, however, pretty warm in there the day we went. Not sure if it was a one-off, or if that's how it normally is. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. While the calamari itself was nice, the pieces were just way too big to eat whole, and we weren't given any knives to cut it. We also ordered the pad-thai and red curry (lunch portions). I think the fish sauce, or something like it, in the pad thai was too overpowering. It had an odd taste to it that I've never experienced before. The curry might have been a bit overly red, could've used more coconut milk, but it did have a nice variety of veggies. Their drinks are in cans, and they charge a reasonable amount for them. With everything combined our lunch came to $46.30. Not bad for 2 people, but nothing stood out to me that made me want to come back.
