A wonderful family-run small business in the heart of Wilton Manors. It is a cozy and romantic space with places for couples, small groups and places for single dinners. The space is clean and visually pleasing with nice furniture and blooming orchids. The service is super friendly and personable. And the food... this must be one of my favorite sushi restaurants in South Florida. The fish is so fresh and delicious, I always get the chefs choice entrée. The sashimi is always a nice fat slice of fish with perfectly cooked rice. The rice is really important to me because I don't like old stale rice or overcooked mush.

Without question the best sushi in all of Florida! This is a hidden gem that if ever discovered would have a like down the block! The freshest, highest quality fish you'll ever find and perfectly seasoned rice. Amazing ceviche and a special roll called ultraman that has the best toro you will ever eat! And on top of all that it's a bargain! If nearby this is a must visit if you love sushi!

It's our second visit and this place - doesn't disappoint! Embark on a culinary adventure with the best sushi, where freshness meets artistry in every bite. From silky sashimi to meticulously crafted nigiri, each piece is a testament to the chef's skill and dedication. Sourced from the finest ingredients, the best sushi boasts impeccably fresh fish that tantalizes the palate with its delicate flavors. Sushi chef meticulously prepare each piece with precision and care, ensuring a culinary masterpiece with every bite. It's difficult to spoil the dish as long as you are keeping it simple and fresh! And that's exactly what you have there. We had miso soup, two sushi Rolls and few Toro sashimi and eel pieces. Everything was outstanding! Reasonably priced. Highly recommend to visit this place and we'll be back soon again!

    Making the sushi...

This place is tiny. 4 seats at the sushi bar; 3 seats at a window counter; a couple tables inside and out. But it's one of the more authentic sushi places you'll have the pleasure of visiting in Fort Lauderdale. Even though it was Saturday night in the big city (Wilton manors), we lucked out finding parking across the street. And we got lucky again with 2 seats open at the sushi bar. The menu is limited. No Thai or other Asian dishes here. And if you don't eat raw fish, you are even more limited. But whatever you do order, you will like. My husband had the chef's special sushi entree -- 10 pieces of very fresh fish -- including eel and a small roll. He said it was excellent. He also liked his small (piping) hot sake. I started with a green salad. Mainly romaine lettuce with carrots and ginger dressing. I'd wanted their crabtastique roll -- which sounded fantastic, but they no longer offer it. I chose their caliente -- but left off the jalapeños. It was a roll with shrimp tempura, fish roe, and avocado. It was good. I then added on one piece of tobiko (flying fish eggs) sushi for a bit of "crunch". Yum. Everyone was quite nice. We had enjoyable conversations with our fellow diners at the bar. And with the gal preparing all the many takeout orders. The guy that waited on us was friendly as well. These two people plus the talented sushi chef were the entire staff. A belated thank you to fellow Yelp Elite Marqus R who gave this place a favorable review years back. I'd bookmarked it a long time ago -- and we are so glad we finally came here. Now we know where to recommend when someone wants good authentic sushi in a non pretentious setting.

Truly delicious sushi. Slices of fish a little on the large side for my taste but still amazing. Not only is the food great but the service feels extremely personal and warm. Cannot recommend it enough!

This small phenomenal restaurant is located in the heart of Wilton Manors. It has only a few tables indoors and one or two outdoors. It has a great ambiance and vibe to it. This is some of the best sushi I have had in South Florida and I highly recommend checking it out. It also isn't insanely priced. It's not cheap but it's not crazy. The Toro and all the fish tasted amazing and extremely fresh. Try the Sozo roll and the Nigiri. This is truly a hidden gem!

Intimate family owned fresh sushi bar. This was a first time for me at this bar and it's 5* all the way. Only 10 seats but definitely worth the wait. highly recommend the fresh red snapper ceviche. so delicious! The Sozo was also a fan favorite. You will not be disappointed if you love fresh sushi in a intimate environment.

Good sushi place. Cozy interior and friendly service. I personally like Kaizen better but this place is good if you're in the Wilton Manors area.

Sozo Sushi Bar in Wilton Manors drive is a family run Sushi restaurant. It was so small that I walked past it several times not noticing the place, until someone actually mentioned it when we were craving for sushi while on vacation in the Fort Lauderdale area. Our group of five chose to be seated outside since the weather was nice. We started with their few appetizers to share such as seaweed salad, crab meat dumplings and spicy soup together with a decent bottle of Sake. I found the appetizers underwhelming and not original, it's something you can find in any Americanized Japanese restaurant, especially for the price. It was the sushi rolls that made all the difference. I chose the Sozo, a spicy tuna-king, crab-avocado with scallion and tempura crisp roll. It was freshly made, flavored beautifully and filling. Although somewhat pricey for what it's worth, we all agreed that the sushi rolls were indeed very delicious and gave us reason to definitely come back and support this mom and pop business on Wilton Drive!

I hear a lot of people in Wilton Manors complain there are too many sushi restaurants on the Drive. There really are only a few, and I'd rather have more! I love quality sushi and sashimi and find pretty slim pickings in Wilton Manors. Sozo Sushi Bar is the only purely focused sushi bar, not combined with other Asian cuisines or noodles. It's unbeatable in the freshness and quality of sashimi cuts. The menu is small and primarily focused on tuna and yellowtail rolls. Luckily for me hamachi yellowtail is one of my favorite sashimis. Their OMG roll with yellowtail, jalapeño, lemon zest, scallion and lemon garlic vinaigrette is simple and delicious. The Snaptabulous roll is decadent with spicy hamachi, avocado, tempura crisp topped with shrimp. The New Yorker roll is a great choice if you like spicy tuna. My friend and I go after happy hour. Their miso soup is spot on, and ceviche of the day always wonderful. Ask if they have toro. Two slices of fatty tuna will blow your mind. The sushi chef gave us some yuzukosho paste as an added spicy condiment for the toro. Yum! Sozo is a super tiny, family run place with mom, dad and daughter running the show. We enjoy the banter. I gladly spend a bit more here for the personable service and quality sushi. It's also nice to help out a family owned small business than a corporate chain. The atmosphere is bright, intimate and minimalist chic. Plus if your iPhone battery is dying, they'll charge it. Nice service!

Two of us shared a couple of appetizers and rolls. We arrived around 6:30PM and we were the only two people. When we left, there were two more people inside and three sitting at the outside tables It's a nice space. We started with edamame and shu mei, both were decent. The shu mei wrapper was a little chewy and the edamame had a bit of a snap to them. The spicy tuna roll was better than the "wilton roll", which was kind of the same as your standard "bagel roll". The white rice was wrapped on the outside and I forgot to ask for brown rice. We weren't offered it either. The rolls were loose and broke apart easily when picking them up. With two Diet Cokes, served in the can, the total was $44, plus $10 tip. I don't think that's expensive, but not much of a value either. I'd try it one more time.

Soto sake, miso soup and the New Yorker Roll to left and the Wilton roll to the right. Both rolls were very good! Would recommend

There may be only one other place for poke that I know of and that's on Oakland Park Boulevard- see my Yumbo poke review! Seeing as that I'm up this way all the time for work, I'm so happy to have a new poke shop near Lauderdale by the sea! It's a classic poke-style setup where you can build your own bowl or choose from one of their thoughtfully crafted creations. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I even had a chance to chat with the owner, who I engaged about discussing catering options -- a great sign of hands-on management. The storefront is bright and inviting, and the inside feels clean, modern, and new -- exactly what you want in a poke spot. The food was excellent: perfectly balanced flavors, fresh fish-i had fresh raw tuna and sashimi salmon, and some truly unique ingredients. They have a couple of rare seaweeds I've only seen in my travels throughout Japan, which was an amazing surprise (I really hope they keep those!) Prices were fair -- about $16 for two scoops of protein and a generously loaded bowl packed with fresh toppings. The spicy sauce was the standout for me -- bold, flavorful, and ties everything together beautifully. There were a lot of unique additions at this location that I haven't seen in the last five years at other typical poke restaurants- hopefully they keep these unique ingredients for the long haul All in all, an excellent experience from start to finish. Fresh food, friendly service, and a modern space. Highly recommended -- and one of the best poke options you'll find in Fort Lauderdale.

While service was just okay, the sushi itself stood out for all the wrong reasons. We ordered hot sake which tasted far too sweet and watered down. If not watered down, then the brand was far inferior to other house sakes offered locally. The smell inside the restaurant was very off putting and overpowering. We tried a typical JB Roll and a Lemon Drop Roll that the server recommended. Neither were great. The quality of the fish and flavor were just not there. The recommended roll's sauce was lemon based and while we had high hopes for it based on the description, it was just not enjoyable and we ended up leaving half of it and going to another restaurant across the way where we had a much more enjoyable experience with both the food and the service. Although we had visited Sushi Song in the past, it had been years since our last visit. I had really hoped to find another local go-to spot. However, the interior really needs some TLC and a deep clean, and the quality of the sushi unfortunately does not warrant a return visit.

This restaurant was suggested by a local and they couldn't say enough good things about it. Upon, entering the restaurant we were welcomed immediately and told to sit where we'd like. We decided to sit at the bar. The chef didn't look particularly happy about us sitting there when the server came from the back he said the chairs were not stable and asked us to sit at another table. We said okay, happy they were thinking ahead to prevent one of us getting hurt. Once we sat down the server asked us what we wanted to drink, I asked for an ice tea, the server said "we don't have that" very pointedly and was giving off an attitude that we were being an inconvenience to him. My friend and I agreed on just water. Looking at the menu there were other tea options and that wasn't offered. The food came out relatively fast, I ordered the Tuna California Roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll. The presentation was nice but the flavor was lacking and the sushi roll fell apart when trying to pick it up to eat. The Tuna California Roll was okay, nothing over the top or bad, typical. The Spicy Tuna Roll was not good. It was if the spicy sauce was not made for flavor. It was over powering with the spicy that it made the whole role taste of the roll, I didn't event finish the roll. To top it off the server's attitude grew with every interaction we had with him (which was few) when we were paying the check he snapped at my friend and then even closed his eyes and took a deep breath then apologized. Overall, this was not a pleasant experience, the food didn't meet our expectations and the servers attitude didn't create a welcoming atmosphere (I didn't even feel comfortable asking for a straw for my water). There's potential here but these allot of improvement needed. I look forward to giving this place another chance in the future and hope it's a better experience.
