Countless recommendations by various foodies and a few years in, I finally made it to Shimuja. We went at a random time in the early evening that was technically the afternoon, but there were still 2 groups of people eating. They have a happy hour from 3-7 PM with $6 appetizers and drinks including beer, sake and wine, so going early in the evening is definitely a plus. (They have takoyaki, or octopus balls, along with edamame, harumaki, or spring rolls, and pickled cucumber on happy hour, all of which I need to get when I go back.) We got the vegetable dumplings on happy hour along with our ramen, and they were the perfect item to munch on while waiting for the ramen to come out. You can get them steamed or fried, and their fried version was not greasy, yet crispy and with adequate filling. I find that a lot of fried dumplings end up having skimpy filling due to the high temperature cooking method overcooking the inside and the amount of filling wrapped in each dumpling to begin with. I'm happy to say that was not the case here. The dipping sauce was flavorful, definitely worth the double dip. I had the Mazesoba, the soupless ramen with all the toppings and 4-5 ounces of broth. It was the best choice I could make since the noodles were firm and chewy and kept this texture since they were not getting soggy in broth. The fried burdock was irresistibly crunchy and added such good texture to the softer noodles, pork belly and eggs. The pork belly was very tender and well marinated, and the egg was cooked perfectly for that jammy yolk. The spicy miso on the side is worth the add on. The salty and spicy umami taste of the miso was awesome on the jammy egg and topped on a slurp of noodles. The weakest part of the dish was the naruto, or the fish cake, which had a spongy texture and taste like it was frozen, defrosted and frozen several times. Our server was attentive and got our orders right (egg on the side for one ramen). I loved the calm nature of the eatery as there was no obnoxiously loud music overhead or loud talking by the staff. Eating great food in peace was just what we needed for this day. I'll have to return for the tonkotsu broth ramen and the rest of the menu!

This is by far my favorite ramen place in Broward County,Fl and I've been to many ramen restaurants. The broth is slow cooked for 13 hours and you can really taste the depth of flavor this slow cooking achieves. My favorite is the pork tonkatsu ramen to which you can add a soft boiled egg if you'd like which I always do. The pork is always melt in your mouth tender but only comes with two pieces so you can order extra on the side if you'd like. Sometimes if I'm in the mood for spice I order a side of their spicy miso paste so I can control the heat. They do offer a spicy ramen and it is super spicy! Their key lime chicken ramen is also delicious and just full of flavor. I think they have 9 or 10 different ramens and for you vegetarians out there, they also have a vegetarian ramen. I'm also a huge fan of their pork buns and they have a nice variety of appetizers so you're bound to find something you'd like. They have a dessert menu with mochi and a couple of other things but their Japanese crepe cake is not to be missed. Trust me with this! It's light and airy and just hits your taste buds on so many levels! They offer different sake and wine as well. Service is good and the only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because of the price point. I do however find myself craving this so I know I'll just keep going back!

Have to update my review because I realized it didn't have any pictures. My husband and I have become regulars (both dine-in and take-out). We bring all of our family and friends here and get the same blown away reaction. The best pork buns and ramen hands-down. Just wow. This comfort food is filling, savory, and you can taste the passion behind the food. The service is quick and offers tap to pay at the table (prefect for lunch breaks). We are so lucky to have a place this good locally. See y'all soon.

Come with me to Shimuja, which is located in Davie. I came across them a while back but knew I had to try it after a coworker said it was the best ramen. I had their Pikachu Boba made with black tea and passion fruit to drink. For an appetizer, I had their Pork Gyoza Dumplings (fried); they had a crispy texture and were nicely filled. I had the Satsuma Tonkotsu for my ramen, now the best ramen I've had. The noodles were thick and wavy, and perfectly made. The broth was light and had a perfect flavor profile. The smoked pork belly is the BEST pork belly I've ever had. It was cooked nicely and tenderly, and it didn't have a lot of jelly fat. For dessert, I had their Japanese Crepe Cake, topped with berries. It was light and delicious. Overall, Shimuja was great. The food was excellent, but the service could be improved by being more attentive and consistent. I plan on going back and trying their other locations in Miami.

This is the best ramen place around this area! I recently traveled to Japan and this food is on par with what I had over there. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but the quality of the food makes up for that. The service is good. I highly recommend trying the pork Katsu. The flavor of this dish is unforgettable. I can't recommend this place enough! I would give it 10 out of five stars if I could!!

I finally made it Shimuja after hearing many good things. I went during lunch on a weekday. They have a nice affordable lunch menu. I was seated quickly (table for one) at the small table. There was also what looked like a large bar seating area. You get a bottle of water for the table to self serve. After much internal debate, I went with the maze ramen. This was described as a brothless ramen with burdock, egg, and some other things. It came out pretty quickly. While the presentation was very nice, the overall taste was a little bit off the mark for me. Think I was expecting a bolder flavor. I have a relatively high bar from living in Japan. Also, maybe because I'm not that big of a fan of burdock and it happened to be a very large pile that it came with. That's what the entire dish tasted like. Okay at first but got boring. The noodle texture was nice. Wish you got more than half an egg. And my nori didn't have much of a crisp. The portion was just okay. Wonder if these are the same portions as dinner or smaller. If the portions are all the same, then not sure about the value. I can get on board with the lunch price and portion though. I plan to come back and try some of their broth ramen. The server was very attentive. Payment was quick and easy at the table. My biggest criticism is going to be the bathroom. No paper towels because they have a blow dryer. But it makes it difficult to get out without touching the dirty doorknob.

I am not a huge ramen person due to past experiences but my sister is a die hard and found this place on IG. Small spot in southwest ranches (or right outside on the east side of 75). Rox and Rocky were taking care of us and were very attentive. We had a chicken appetizer that was really good and then the ramen was delicious. I'm also not huge on pork but my sister suggested one for me and I was shocked how much I enjoyed it. The bowls were plentiful and I had enough left over for another meal. It definitely changed my mind on ramen for sure

I've had this place on my list for a while, and it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly (thank you, Roxy). We went there for lunch and try the ramen from their lunch menu, and the portion is excellent, the right amount, we also try the key lime ramen and it was something different but delicious, and of course we ordered some takoyaki (recommended) this meal we paired it with some delightful Japanese Beer (Coedo) we had their IPA and Black Lager. And the place is so cute, it's truly a hidden gem at this plaza, the decoration inside is beautiful and it seriously transported us somewhere else. Overall what a good experience, thanks again, Roxy!

Shimuja is currently our favorite place for Ramen. We were originally introduces to Shimuja in 2020 by our Asian friends and they KNOW what ramen is and should taste like. This time around, we ordered as an Appetizer the following: 1. Tuna Mayo Onigiri It was okay.. not my personal favorite. 2. Pork Shimuja Buns SO GOOD Ramen: Kagoshima Special My ultimate favorite! The pork belly is to die for, the broth is unbelievable, noodles are always on point, and the Naruto is always a nice addition. Far warning: come hungry. You will be full FAST. We also tried the Otokoyama Sake - it was nice, refreshing (we ordered it cold), and fruity. They just renovated the restaurant 6 months ago as well. If you are in the area, it's a must try!

Shimuja Spicy Miso Special. This is absolute perfection!!!

Shimuja Ramen is a fave spot and one of our go to spots for ramen. Been here many times. So how have I never written a review? Man, I'm a slacker. Lol. First off, if you're looking for legit ramen...look no further than Shimuja. It's SOLID!!! It's a cute little spot in Southwest Ranches in Davie. The vibe is simple. The food is BOMB! The service is just wonderful. But be warned, they do get busy. Worth the wait. On this chill Sunday, our family was craving ramen for lunch. We arrived around 2:30pm and they were quite busy. Luckily we were able to get a table right away. But the place filled up quickly and there were several groups who came after us and put their names on the waitlist. My husband and I both ordered the Satsuma Tonkotsu because the couple next to us had it and highly recommended it. He kept his regular and I opted for the $2 upgrade with the habanero spicy miso. Because I love SPICY! Duh. Our kids got the Tokyo Shoyu and Takoyaki. The food is quite consistent here and sometimes they change it up or add new specials. With that said, everything was great today. The only thing I would mention on the downside is my habanero spicy miso addition really made my ramen way too salty. Like I couldn't eat it level salty. Noodles, pork and everything else was good. But the salty broth was too much. I tried the Tokyo Shoyu and my husband's regular Satsuma Tonkotsu to compare and their broth was balanced. The culprit was the habanero spicy miso. I asked our server for additional broth to tone down the saltiness and she was very accommodating. It helped but a sadly it was still salty. I would suggest for anyone adding the spicy to add it on the side so you can add to taste. Or just add a hint of it. Or not at all. Haha. Honestly, they had me at habanero spicy miso but miso in general is salty before mixing in. Add at your discretion. That is all. Our server was Roxanna and she was the sweetest. She was very friendly and patient. The staff in general is very attentive and consistently pre-bussed tables. I will say I noticed Shimuja prices have gone up. Ramen was pricey before but now it ranges from $18-24 before any upgrades or add ons. We were spoiled living in Vegas with tons of ramen options and we could easily get a good bowl of ramen for $10-15! No joke. With that said, we will pay money for good food and Shimuja is solid. We had a lovely lunch at Shimuja and the ramen hit the spot. Keep offering the special new menu items as I'm always down to try new options. By the way, they added Happy Hour M-F @ 3-6pm and $12 Lunch Specials for Ramen M-F @ 3-6pm. I'll add to tips for a quick find.

This is a great ramen spot in Davie with lots of options for appetizers, ramen, and boba! To start I tried the Takoyaki and Crispy Shrimp, both of which were absolutely delicious! The shrimp was coated in a unique batter I've never tried before, which gave it an almost sweet flavor that complemented the spicy mayo perfectly. The takoyaki was a stand-out for me, fried to perfection with perfectly cooked, fat chunks of octopus and a heap of bonito flakes on top. For entrees, my party all got the Kagoshima Special Ramen, a thick, rich tonkatsu broth base with perfectly soft-boiled eggs, crisp vegetables, and a massive portion of sliced pork belly. Literally. HEAVEN! I got a side of Habanero Spicy Miso, which tasted different from other spicy sauce add-ins I've had with ramen but was very delicious and fragrant, adding to the flavor without overpowering it. Overall, this was a really solid meal and I would love to come back and have everything again plus a boba tea.
