    Lemon drop cocktail
    Ariana O.

Ren has easily become a favorite spot for me after an amazing experience. The food's quality is what I appreciated the most, especially with the great prices offered at Happy Hour. My favorites of the night were the Viva Roll, the Spicy Tuna Crispy rice and the Lemon Drop cocktail. I also thought that the quality of the salmon nigiri was great and came at a very reasonable price of $5 for two decently sized pieces. While it was delicious, the portion size of the scallop robata was a bit small. The restaurant itself was very nice and modern and the booths for seating were very spacious. The service was great as well and the staff ensured that our experience was a positive one.

Massaman (orange looking dish)?had raw potatoes and two Pad Thai's

I have been staying temporarily in the Plantation area for over a month now and we have had no choice but to eat takeout most days because of our circumstances. So I have been consistently on the hunt for good, healthy and affordable quick food in the area and my husband has been craving Thai these days. He LOVES Thai! I found Ren Thai online and placed an order for him to pickup on his way back home. 2 orders of Pad Thai for him and the kid, a Massaman Curry for me, an Aged Tofu for me as well and an order of veggie spring rolls to share. Let me first say that the photos for this place look phenomenal so I was pretty pumped to try it. to say the least. Let me also say that the food in this area seems to be pretty subpar thus far. One of my favorite dishes is Massaman Curry. I know my Massaman lemme tell ya!! This is the VERY FIRST TIME that I have had a Massaman THIS TANGY! Maybe it's Kaffir leaves? I'm not sure but the taste was overwhelmingly, lime flavored. Also, the potatoes were hard. They were nearly raw aside and so I threw them out. Furthermore, it was soupy and actually reminded me a lot of Tom Kha Gai except not as thick or as delicious. The avocado was yummy in the dish and so were the cashews but the onion was a bit undercooked as well and. I did call my order in and the guy that answered was super nice so big-ups for customer service but honestly speaking, all of the food was pretty mid. My husband wasn't feeling his Pad Thai but my daughter didn't complain. Also, the Massaman alone was $17 and I added shrimp so I paid an additional upcharge. I am hoping to find some good food in this area soon.

    Mad tuna Roll

Stopped by because of the reviews but left a little disappointed. I was there around 4pm for an early lunch and sat at the bar. It was empty other than 1 large party that seemed finish. Bartender and staff were nice. Ordered a lychee martini, gyoza, and edamame to start. The gyoza were over steamed and mushy. I had to ask 2x about the edamame and when it got to me it was cold and barely salted. I waited (not exaggerating) 25mins + for appetizers. For sushi I got the mad tuna roll which had crab cucumber with cream cheese, topped with spicy tuna, and a sweet sauce. It was extremely delicious and tasted fresh, but also took way too long. I wasn't able to order another drink because my server never swung back around. It looked like she was handling tables walking in, pick up orders, and running food. Giving 3 stars for the food being OK and the service lacking. I would definitely try again.

    Any vegan options?

Yes they have plenty to choose from. I'm vegetarian and eat there all the time. You may have to say with no whatever. But nice selection for those of us that don't eat meat.

    Are they any vegan options?

    Yes!

The eatery was buzzing on a Saturday evening with its modernly decorated dining room constantly filling up. Seating about 80, it also sports a sushi bar. Our server, Jensen, provided great service and excellent suggestions. I had an otoro version of a margarita. It came with sugar on the rim. Not to my liking. We ordered the coconut rock shrimp appetizer that came with large, meaty shrimp and a great dipping sauce. But the shrimp had no flavor and was very bland. We also had the tuna crispy rice. The presentation was lovely. But the appetizer was underwhelming. For dinner we had the cucumber skin roll with tuna, salmon, and a avocado. Again, a beautiful presentation with tuna that melted in your mouth. But again, not impressive. The standout was the curry udon with chicken katsu; thick, meaty udon noodles; and a delectable curry sauce so good I slurped up each drop. Of course we had to try the pandan creme brulee and the ube flan. The latter being the better of the two desserts. Dinner for two with 1 alcoholic drink, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, tax, and tip was $128.

These were full portions, and too big for us in one sitting. I ordered medium, which tasted pretty mild in restaurant, but my leftovers the next day were spicy (and so delicious)! So if you're the type of person to bring half your meal home, I highly recommend you order one level down from your normal tolerance. The second time I went for lunch, and got the red curry. The menu said it came with miso soup or salad, and I asked for miso soup but the woman gestured up to the small salad bar. Turns out, that day was chicken soup, and I'm pretty happy about it because I don't think I would have ever thought to order chicken soup from a Thai restaurant. I had two bowls, and I would have gotten more if I wasn't trying to leave room for my entree. It didn't work out anyway; even the lunch portion was huge, so half came home. Unbelievable deal, I think with tax and tip (I think I tipped $4?) my total was still only $16 and change. The service is phenomenal, the restaurant is clean, and they have won my heart. I'll be back!

The ambiance was really nice cute spot with outdoor seating, light and airy throughout. The bar area had the windows/screens open, so it felt bright, cozy, and inviting. Definitely a vibe for a casual lunch or date. Unfortunately, the service was very slow despite it not being busy. We were told there was only one sushi chef working, which explained the delay, but it still affected the overall experience. The food itself was good the sushi rolls were flavorful and the sauces paired really well. My drink was also on point. The deviled eggs, though, were underwhelming not seasoned and just didn't hit for me. I ended up adding eel sauce, which actually made them much better... honestly something they might want to consider. Overall, decent food and a really cute atmosphere, but the slow service brings it down for me. Not writing it off completely, but for now it's a 3-star experience.

Marumi Sushi has a wide variety of menu to choose from sushi to cooked food from the kitchen. We ordered different appetizers, small portioned food, some ramen and seafood & veggies hotpot. They literally have everything on the menu even the ones I didn't know I was craving for until I saw them on the menu. My girlfriend loves uni (sea urchin) so we ordered two pieces (1 pc per order) at a reasonable price. It was good for the price of ($14.50 may change due to market fluctuation). It wasn't Japanese uni, it looked and tasted like the ones from California. Nonetheless, it was good, especially with uni being scarce temporarily. We also tried their grilled shishito peppers (nice mini app to snack on), fried tofu with chicken sauce (very hot inside so be careful, but it was tasty and light enough to enjoy other dishes), spicy salmon roll wrapped in soy paper (very simply roll and tasty, you don't get tired of it after eating couple pieces), nato beans and rice with Ikura and quail eggs (tasted little blend but couldn't complain for the portion and quality), seafood hotpot (will satiate your hotpot craving until next time, and Michelle ramen (which was mediocre at best). I got the impression that the place is neat and well kept. I will definitely be going back for the second and third time. There are plenty of free parking spaces in the plaza.
