I first started coming to see Justin 26 years ago when they first opened up here, and it was amazing! Some of the best sushi I'd ever eaten. I joined Yelp and reviewed this place around 14-15 years ago and it was still amazing, I'd long since moved up to Palm Beach and still came down here for sushi once in awhile until I found comparable quality closer to home... Came down to shop at IKEA today and decided to stop by for old time's sake. Sadly, the years have taken their toll. The Davie roll, once a double fisted roll as big as my wrist, was sad and emaciated, nowhere near its former glory. Yukke was super wet, not spicy, and seemed more full of chopped scallions than beef. We got the Little Japan roll and the Super Duper roll, but both were bland and pedestrian, put together on a plate with nothing to tell where one started and the other stopped. Everything seemed rushed, and hastily thrown together, not like the quality and care that used to go into everything here... The service is still top rate, fast, friendly, and efficient. The ambiance is exactly the same, literally the same picture on the wall as long as I can remember, and Justin is still behind the counter putting out product, but no matter how familiar it seems, nothing is what it was.

I was craving sushi for my birthday dinner and after a visit to one of my happy places (IKEA) my Love recommended Little Japan one of his fav sushi spots. Upon entering I was struck with how busy and full of energy this small restaurant was. The owner, Justin, was out visiting tables and I overheard asking about patron's kids, etc so this is clearly a longstanding (26 years Justin mentioned) business with lots of regular customers! I also saw them do a decent amount of takeout while we were there, so consider that if looking for a to go meal! We had the Little Japan Roll, Davie Roll and Super Duper Roll...all were good but I think the Davie Roll was my favorite with its eel and tempura! I would for sure go back again if in the area.

A taste of spicy goodness in Davie. I usually get take out from Little Japan but today my family wanted to eat in their dining room. At normal dinner time this place is always very busy but we are here right at their dinner opening at 5pm. I ordered the fried gyoza that I dip in soy sauce and conch salad which could have been thinner sliced. The California Roll came on a wooden serving tray with huge slices that tasted fresh. Very good pricing for the sizes.

UPDATED REVIEW: Once again Little Japan did not disappoint. The little restaurant was packed and our take out order was ready on time. Very friendly employees that say hello everytime we walk in and know our names. Ordered my favorite Super Duper Roll and Little Japan Roll, Miso Soup and Fried Gyoza. Big portions at decent prices for the freshest fish in the area. Got an extra side of eel sauce and soy. I use a healthy chunk of wasabi on each large piece of sushi.

The kids love coming here because the food is so good and they love hearing the waitresses say how good they eat. The food is great and the staff is friendly and efficient and it's never too loud, just right. The owner/chef does an amazing job with the food and you call tell it's great quality. We come monthly and we get the same rolls. The Mexican is my favorite!

We were looking for something close by and we honestly had been running out of places to eat (in our minds). We ended up at Little Japan. We had been here once before a while ago, and it wasn't my favorite, so we didn't return for some time. I am a true believer in trying places again - as long as it wasn't a really bad experience. It wasn't. So we went for lunch during the week. My husband & I were shocked they had fountain soda. Yay! Definitely a plus. We started with the Yaki Ita (squid). It was so tender and the sauce was very good. I had the Narutomaki - it was salmon & tofu rolled in cucumber. It was very fresh and refreshing. We also had edamame. It was perfectly cooked and warmed through - I hate mushy edamame or inconsistant temperatures. My husband had a chicken bento (sorry, no photo) and he enjoyed it. All in all - it was a nice experience. We would go back.

Chiraahi sushi

Tonight I had an outstanding chirashi sushi from Little Japan - one of the best I've had in a long time. A great variety of very fresh fish, prepared perfectly - including some of the tastiest spicy tuna I've had. And my wife really enjoyed her chicken Pad Thai. We've been ordering from Little Japan since the start of the pandemic. They are consistently excellent. And thanks to Justin (the owner, I think), Vivian, and the rest of the staff for the excellent friendly service! Highly recommended.

Got the lunch chicken teriyaki and an order of gyozas. It was bad, the chicken was dry, and overall disappointing.

The drinks were fantastic, the service was attentive, and everything came out perfectly timed. The happy hour deals are unbelievable maki rolls for $14 and appetizers for $8. You really cannot beat that for the quality. The food itself was phenomenal. If you love scallops, these were some of the best I've ever had. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The atmosphere is also worth mentioning as the aesthetic is beautiful, laid-back, and calm. The Food Everything we ordered was absolutely delish nothing disappointed: * Sushi Rolls: We ordered two different rolls, and the presentation and taste were both top-tier. * Cuatro Leches: We ended the night with the cuatro leaches , which was decadent, and the perfect sweet finish to the meal. Ambiance: Romantic- the decoration was perfectly designed. I love this place. Excellent all around.

The eatery was buzzing on a Saturday evening with its modernly decorated dining room constantly filling up. Seating about 80, it also sports a sushi bar. Our server, Jensen, provided great service and excellent suggestions. I had an otoro version of a margarita. It came with sugar on the rim. Not to my liking. We ordered the coconut rock shrimp appetizer that came with large, meaty shrimp and a great dipping sauce. But the shrimp had no flavor and was very bland. We also had the tuna crispy rice. The presentation was lovely. But the appetizer was underwhelming. For dinner we had the cucumber skin roll with tuna, salmon, and a avocado. Again, a beautiful presentation with tuna that melted in your mouth. But again, not impressive. The standout was the curry udon with chicken katsu; thick, meaty udon noodles; and a delectable curry sauce so good I slurped up each drop. Of course we had to try the pandan creme brulee and the ube flan. The latter being the better of the two desserts. Dinner for two with 1 alcoholic drink, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, tax, and tip was $128.

The spot is small, and dark in a way that sort of reminds me of a dive bar. Clean though! I could see the fish at the sushi bar, and it looked perfect. Upon arrival, only two other tables; by the time I left, the place was full. So despite it visually looking like a hole-in-the-wall spot (my favorite type of restaurant to check out), this is definitely not a well-kept secret. My server was quick, handed me a menu, asked if I wanted water, produced it, and told me to let her know when I was ready to order. I didn't even catch her name until I saw it on my receipt (Nong, you're an amazing server!). I tried the red thai curry, chicken, medium spice. It was tame, so next time I'll order it a bit hotter. But otherwise, it was good! Very filling. Lunch includes miso soup and a small spring roll, which arrived upright in a amazing with the sauce already in it. Despite the restaurant filling quickly, I was never rushed to vacate my table; I ate in peace with a good book, and Nong had a radar unlike any I've seen; the moment I glanced up she was there to produce my check. I think she was the only server in the place, though some of my food and my water refill was handled by someone else. I think I prefer the food at Zabb, but this was decent food, great pricing ($11 for lunch), and phenomenal service. I'd definitely stop by again on my way to the grocery!

My husband found this place and it had great reviews so we went for it!!! The place was cute. Decorated nicely. I'm sad I didn't like this place bc I really wanted to. The place was packed so other people must love it. I didn't end up getting any sushi bc I'm pregnant and most of the sushi rolls they had were raw. Usually I love raw sushi but unfortunately they had no selections for us pregnant ladies. The only cooked roll they have was fried and unfortunately I can't do fried so there was that. Usually other placed offer cooked salmon rolls but unfortunately they did not here. So we went for the Thai. Which I did not like the taste. So food was a miss. Also the server was really nice but he forgot our utensils for like half the meal. I won't come back here. Maybe had I come when I wasn't pregnant I would have had a diff experience. I recommend for them to add rolls for us pregnant ladies who can't eat raw food. Edit: Editing this review as the owner made a suggestion. I had actually asked the water if they could cook a JB roll for me without frying and he told me no. I recommend letting the servers know that's an option as it was not available to me.
