I came here with my dad and best friend. the restaurant itself was very small but nice enough inside. the man working (I'm not sure if he was the owner?) was very friendly and chatty. my dad ordered a sashimi nigiri combo, while my friend and I both ordered lunch combos (two rolls and soup or salad). I chose the JB and spicy tuna rolls. there was an ant under the glass on the table. no big deal, it's south Florida, it happens he brought over some dishes for soy sauce and returned to making food. we picked up the dishes to pass around and immediately noticed each one was covered in ants. at least 5-10 on each dish, so we pointed it out and he got new ones unfortunately when the food came out, my JB roll had a dead fly on it. at first I thought it was a really big sesame seed, but then I noticed distinct wings on it. the man was very apologetic and offered cooked food instead, but unfortunately I was too put off at that point to eat the food. my friend and dad both also elected to not eat I really wanted to give this place a good review because I truly love supporting local businesses, but the excess bugs on the plates as well as food... I can't give more than one star. read more

We stopped by here for lunch. The restaurant is tiny! Probably the smallest we've been to in a very long time. There are a few booths and a sushi counter and that's about it. There was only one gal dining in when we came, but they were doing a bit of takeout/pick up during the lunch hour while we were there. And there was one very friendly guy cooking the food and preparing the sushi and waiting on us -- all by himself. Parking is limited right outside the restaurant which is in a very small strip of stores and another restaurant. It's located on the west side of Cypress Road (18th) just south of the Publix grocery store. We'd been here once many years ago. And we frequent Calypso across the street. The menu is huge. It's about 6 pages long and there are a lot of combos and options from which to choose. There are cooked items as well as sushi. It was hard to decide what to have. My husband chose one of their lunch specials. It turned out to be two pieces of salmon, two pieces of tuna, and two shrimp plus a California roll. I chose their salmon crunch roll. We both added a house salad to start. We were told that the ginger dressing was house made -- and it was quite good. I loved my salmon crunch roll. I'd asked for the salmon to be cooked through and it was. This roll has no rice, but it has salmon, asparagus, cream cheese, and crab meat all in a tempura batter. It was delicious with a bit of eel sauce. The prices here are pretty reasonable, as well. If you like to support local businesses and you are in the area, this place is well worth a visit. We know we will be back more often when craving sushi. read more

On top of that the person behind the sushi bar had an attitude with me and started yelling. The place is also dirty and looked very rundown. This is my friends go to sushi spot. She took me last night to check it out, since she knows how much I love sushi! Sushi Boat is a cute little hole in the wall dive that offers an array of sushi along with many other dishes. The moment you walk in you're greeted by the friendly owner, Ling. Ling is very sweet and really takes pride in her restaurant. Her son also works there and was our waiter. He was great! I didn't get to meet Lings husband Woody but I hear he's great also! We started with some hot sake, a salmon crunch roll, a spicy crab roll, a Mexican roll, a spicy jb roll and two pieces of salmon sushi. All delicious and plated so nicely. Their spicy mayo is also a must try! If you're in the area I recommend popping in or ordering some sushi to go, it seems to be more of a to-go place. They had many pick up orders while we were dining in. Ling even sent us home with some yummy chips. Can't wait to return to try different rolls and dishes! read more

Diamond in the rough! Rather modest place run by a family who truly cares about providing great food. We ordered 40 Nigiri Sushi and a roll, all a la carte. The fish was sweet, fresh and unusually large atop the rice. The roll was equally tasty. Very generous portions at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended for take-out. read more

The service was very pleasant, however the food left very to desired. I ordered sashimi and the pieces of fish where cut with a chopper knife, the salmon was not not cut al the way through. I got gyoza, a spicy salmon roll, and the salmon lovers special. The gyoza tasted like microwaved cardboard and the salmon was super fishy fishy... not good at all. During my time living in Pompano Beach I visited Sushi Boat a number of times. The small family owned shop has a great atmosphere that makes you feel like a guest in someone's home. I always enjoyed the volcano roll when I went. Once while we ate inside the owners young son sat near us playing League of Legends on his laptop. Major bonus points. read more

This is my first time checking in and I find this gem to be a wonderful place for Japanese. The menu is plentiful. I ordered the lunch special and would have to say it was one of these sushi rolls I ever had. The atmosphere is home-like, and small business owner owned. I would recommend the overall restaurant as a 4, but the service I would remember a 5. When I first walked in it was past the regular rush hour. The owner came from the back and was kind enough to make sure ALL of my requests were met. It sits on the corner of 5th and Cypress, just south of the Publix plaza so you may pass it on your first drive. I'm glad I found this mom and pop restaurant, they will definitely be seeing me again. read more
