Dropped a couple stars: the place is no longer the same. Used to have a full cabinet of just desserts that were freshly made. Now, just a sad display of mostly sandwiches where the desserts became an afterthought, all the way at the bottom shelf in a sad little corner. The cake didn't taste very fresh and when you bit into it felt it was refrigerated for awhile. Still tasted good and great combo, but a shadow of the past for sure. Great option for grab and go coffee and a quick breakfast when staying at the Lotte Palace. Since they don't have coffee makers in the room your only other option for your caffeine fix in the am is expensive room service. They have nice coffee holders for 2 or 4 making it easy to carry multiple cups back to the room or the lounge area across the hall. We had the breakfast burrito which was nicely warmed and gave us the fuel to start our day in the big Apple. read more

I haven't been here in a while , the store no longer has a door and window on the Street side of 51st Street and Madison. You have to walk into the Lotte New York Palace Hotel to even know the place existed and it's been reduced in size by two thirds to make way for a jewelry store That being said what brought me here was seeing another Yelper post a review and my memory being jolted of the fine dessert I had a long time ago. I selected two desserts for a friend and I, 'Sharing Is Caring', right ! I picked the mini Chocolate Bar layered cake me and a mini Strawberry Cheese cake for my friend, and a Cappuccino to go. Well Pomme store and the number of selections may be smaller but the desserts taste big and are as good as ever. You can taste the quality coco in the chocolate cream and it just melted in my mouth. And it was not over powering in sweetness. I only wish more people could experience what I just had. read more

This spot is located inside the Lotte New York Palace hotel, but you can enter from the street. The entrance is on the left side of the hotel entrance. The door was framed in bright red, so it was easy to spot. The inside was not too small or too big, it was a good size for a dessert cafe. Nice, clean and bright, with good amount of seating. Their desserts...my goodness they were all so pretty! It was more like a jewelry showcase than desserts. Each one was crafted like an art, with wonderful color and shapes. I knew I was going to have a difficult time choosing which one to order. They offer quick breakfast and lunch items, such as sandwich, wrap, and salad. We were there for the sweets, so we just got some desserts with drinks. All of our orders came on/in paper plates and cups, but that was ok. The staffs were nice and polite. The place was very clean, and while our visit, I saw one staff coming out from behind the counter to clean out the trash and such. We had a nice afternoon snack here, high quality and tasty. The customer service in the shop is amazing! The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The coffee is very good and there is a decent variety of milks and toppings (nutmeg, chocolate, vanilla powder). They also have a huge selection of cakes and cookies. The macarons looked really good but we didn't indulge (this time). The croissant and gingerbread cookies are very good. The shop is very clean and constantly being restocked. Craving some quality dessert, my friend and I walk over to Pomme Palais. It turns out this place is inside a hotel called New York Palace, so make sure to stay on the lookout for it! We walked in and it looked like a small boutique specially made for quality desserts. I was so in awe of the various desserts - cute cakes, eclairs, chocolate covered almonds, and more! I'm relieved the employees were nice enough to let me gawk at the desserts, indecisive and unable to choose what I wanted. After 5 minutes, I ended up going with the classic Neapolitan. Because Pomme Palais is part of the hotel, we were fortunate enough to be able to sit down in some luxurious chairs in the lobby. To my own pleasant surprise, the Neapolitan had not only one layer, but two layers! It was so huge, I didn't think I could take a complete bite of the dessert! I bit into the dessert and felt the vanilla cream mix into the crispy wafer that was dusted with powdered sugar. Each bite felt like a refreshingly creamy vanilla heaven. I wanted to finish all of it, but it was so large, I could only finish about 60% of it before saving the rest of it for later that night. Pomme Palais is a place where you can buy some quality desserts and relax away by sinking into some nearby luxurious furniture and be whisked away into gourmet dessert heaven. What an adorable little place! First of all, it's located on lower level of the posh New York Palace Hotel - easy to find, wonderful place to walk through. You can get to Pomme Palais from hotel lobby, or from their own entrance on 51st. You cannot miss it, considering it bright and cheery fuchsia color, and clean, modern design. Right next to the NY Palace hotel is this small French authentic grab and go with all natural and friesh ingredients. I stopped over here for a quick breakfast. They have fresh fruit, parfaits, croissant sandwiches, and of course pastry to die for! I opted for a spinach and egg croissant but I didn't want to miss my opportunity for a piece of their desserts. It was a toss up between red velvet cheesecake or Black Forest cake. I opted for the latter. Hot coffee and tea is available but if you want to purchase their juice the bottle sells for $12.00. I asked about this extravagant price and learned that it is completely natural so I opted for tap water instead. I ordered to eat in. My croissant was very good but they could have warmed it a it more. Still it did not dissapoint. I loved every bite of it. Then I dove into the Black Forest cake. This was to die for!!! Truly authentic French pastry!!! This place is a little tricky to find since you must stay on 51st East St and head past St Patrick's Cathedral. Really enjoyed my visit here. You'll find love in the form of a vanilla latte here. Come for the coffee and stay longer for all the pastries they have including delicious macaroons. I was in NYC for a business trip, I had this shop on my list of must go places and I'm so ecstatic I made it in. I am a complete coffee lover and I'll admit it when I am a bit of a "coffee snob" (especially when it comes to the unworthy Keurig machines, but that's another story). I absolutely loved the vanilla latte that I euphorically enjoyed with each drop that hit my taste buds. Those lucky lucky taste buds haha. Ok I know it may seem like I'm exaggerating but my barista got this cup incredibly right. There were plenty of sweet treats available to keep your coffee company and from the large amount of people in there I knew it must've been good. I ordered a pack of 12 macaroons for a friend back home that I was able to protect from crumbling on my flight back and I heard they were delicious. It is located in the lobby of the hotel with access from the street if you don't want to walk through the hotel lobby. The staff is friendly and the decor is lovely. I am kicking myself for not trying it earlier in my trip because if I had I would've tried to go back every day. If I am lucky to be back in NYC soon I will be reunited with another vanilla latte and a few pastries. read more

Although it was hard to cut, (the crust is really resilient) I however managed to use all my strength without embarrassing myself in front of my future coworkers. The first bite immersed me within the chocolate ocean (cocoa ocean?) It was well made. Next, the hazelnut crust is crispy and balanced well with the extra chocolate WOW, so delicious. It was exactly like something I had back in Paris. Price: everything is above 7 dollars. Although the piece is bit small, all pastries are classic and delicious. One of the best eclair I have ever had! It's so cute - with sugar flower decoration. My previous experience with eclair at other places were mostly disappointing as I felt like chewing wax when chewing the chocolate top. But this soft and creamy red velvet eclair just melt in my mouth and melt my heart. It's sooooo good - a little sour fruity note balances the sweetness, and the bread is buttery and soft. One of the highlight is that they varies the eclair decorations by seasons. It's fun to have a seasonal theme matched eclair! The product quality is also high standard, everything from looking, smell, taste, to packaging is perfect. Unfortunately, they open with very limited hours (close at 5pm), which made it hard for me to pay more frequent visit. I'm glad and thankful to my friend living in midtown initiated a dessert exchange program with me so that I can try out this Pomme Palais's eclairs while she can try bakeries from downtown area. No comment here. Service: Polite and helpful but not very warm. Overall, it was just okay to 'I've experienced better'. This is a perfectly pristine, nicely designed, wonderful smelling little bakery in the lobby of the Palace Hotel. The coffee (illy) is delicious, and the barristas are very nice and helpful. I ate the Lemon Eggceptional, which is a white chocolate eggshell with a meringue filling and a dollop of lemon custard on top. The "egg" is placed on a birds nest of plain cookie and shreds of something. It was a very cute presentation. The taste didn't blow me away. It could definitely have used more of the lemon flavor or lemon custard, but it was so precious I couldn't help loving it. The entire store smells like butter which I was informed was the croissants. Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to make it back in for one of those. They sell very pretty macarons, as well as a ton of other delicacies/pastries and a few sandwiches/soups/salads. read more

Pomme Palais NY Manhattan Midtown 6:30pm Wednesday 3rd December 2014 Four Stars We were trying to see the Rockefeller Tree lighting ceremony but it was a madhouse and they already close 5th Ave. So we just stopped for a dessert by the New York Palace Hotel. We split a raspberry tart with pistachio cream. The crunch of the crust and the smooth cream, and tang of the fresh fruit made for a decadent but light dessert. The staff wore brown uniform, a frilly white apron, and a beret which I am sure the tourists love. They were very cheerful and attentive. Wow was I disappointed with this place. My friend and I were having major sweet tooths after spending a day at the MOMA, so we yelped nearby dessert places. After seeing all the pretty food pictures from Pomme Palais, we decided to try it. Luckily, we got there 10 minutes before closing time. But just because they were closing up does not mean the employees can blatantly ignore customers! My friend and I were waiting by the counter for a while before I decided to bother the employees who were too busy chitchatting in the corner. Very rude customer service. We got the coffee eclair and cheesecake. The eclair was pretty good; the pastry to filling ratio was definitely in favor of the filling. It was good, but not amazing. I really did not like the cheesecake. It looks really pretty, but that's about all that was good about it. It was too dense and... dry. Maybe because it was the end of the day? The macarons are tasty, and not laduree but I would say "second best" (sorry Pomme!) Unfortunately, they do not sell the french macarons individually anymore (crying). Is it a bad sign that the person behind the counter warmed up the bacon, egg and cheese brioche when he saw me? Not sure what that says about me... When you walk in, the queue looks long but it's mostly people ogling the pastries. Service is pretty fast - even with a few people ahead of you, you can get through in about five minutes. I come here occasionally on my way to work to get the Guilded turmeric latte with soy milk. Absolutely delicious. Staff is always very nice. They have a lot of delicious items on the drink menu and a nice selection of herbal teas. Also..I just like walking through the palace in the morning. Anyway, the other day I was having a really stressful morning. I came to the cafe and ordered my drink then realized that I didn't have my wallet. I told the barista right away and asked them not to make my drink because I couldn't pay for it. Smiling, she said it was okay, and not to worry about it today, I could still have the drink I ordered. I promised to come back the next day to pay. The next day I came back and someone else was working. I explained the situation. He thanked me for coming back to pay then happily replied that it was "on the house" and not to worry. Thank you to the staff for brightening a stressful day and for always demonstrating warmth and kindness! (right across the street from Starbucks) It has a quiet modern atmosphere but the staff are very helpful and kind. I went in to buy a birthday cake on the recommendation from several coworkers who have purchased cakes from there recently. The store sells lots of small ornately decorated single serving sized desserts - ranging from $5-$8 a piece. Maybe that's a little pricey - but this is midtown, it's the palace hotel, and you are paying for quality little mini works of art. (^_^) Would be a nice place to meet a friend and have a coffee and dessert after work. They also have bigger cakes that serve 6-8 people. Today they had a raspberry creme, chocolate, and napoeleon cake. They even offered to make a chocolate name card for the cake (for free)! Strolled in after reading good things about Pomme Palais, but was a little turned off by the prices. So, I settled for a macaron - I'm always open to trying out new macarons from legit places! I asked for a salted caramel macaron (all macarons are $2.50 + tax) and was instead given a hazelnut (the two were the lady behind the counter's favorite, so she probably mixed them up). Didn't notice until I got to the register, and by that time, I had touched it. She gave me the caramel one for free - can't complain about that! Texture is not as fluffy and light as Laduree, but its still crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside consistency. Hazelnut was, well, hazelnut, but the winner goes to the salted caramel. One of the best overall tasting macarons I've had. The caramel center isn't caramel itself, but more of a sugary-consistency and milky. It's hard to explain - you'll just have to try one for yourself. Note - the macarons are quite small. read more

I found this place while walking NYC. Its kind of easy to miss as its right next to the impressive New York Palace hotel. First of all when you walk in, the place is clean, open and has a very welcoming feeling. The colors and decoration inside are really nice. Choosing what I wanted to order was extremely difficult since all the cakes looked incredibly good. I ended up ordering the red velvet cheesecake and WOW!!!! Words cannot describe how amazing this was. I bought two and I honestly contemplated hiding it and not sharing it with the family. It literally just melts in your mouth and all the creaminess and texture bring an explosion of flavors to your palate. I must say hands down the best dessert I have ever had in my life. If you are in the area you have to stop by. While its on the expensive side when it comes to dessert, at the end of the day this is New York. However, its worth every penny. read more
