I am so disappointed. I admit that it's been several years since I've eaten Apollo Tropical. Today may lead to me to never again. I had a simple tropichop with everything but tomatoes. My husband had a classic. The food was subpar. The dish was barely warm. The chicken was bland and the black beans tasted as if they came from a can and no seasonings. The rice was mushy. I ordered the sweet platanos and it tasted of dirty oil. It was only 12:15 so I can't believe the food would taste so horrible. Lastly, there were tons of flies swarming around the restaurant. This is truly one of the worst Pollo Tropical locations in Miami. My family has had several less than stellar experiences here over the years, but I suppose we are gluttons for punishment, as we've continued to patronize this business in a pinch on occasion only to be disappointed each time. I certainly wasn't surprised to see two negative comments that were posted the day before this review. After our last negative experience, my family vowed to never return again. In the past, we've placed orders only to be informed "we are out of chicken", which is quite an oxymoron given the fact that this is, indeed, an establishment that primarily serves chicken. Additionally, we've had our share of both incorrect and missing items from our orders as well as less than stellar service. Unfortunately, my coworkers and I had only a short time on Thursday, August 1st, to grab lunch; Pollo Tropical was our closest, healthiest, quickest option. We were doomed from the moment we entered the drive thru lane. The young female employee who took our order and assisted at the window was rude and unfriendly, so much so my coworker commented after we placed our order, "what is wrong with her?" At first glance, our order appeared accurate, but upon returning to work, we realized only one meal was correct and the other two were incorrect. We ordered a quesadilla wrap combo without tomatoes with yuca fries; the second was a Caesar chicken wrap with yuca fries; however, that is not what the "pleasant" young woman thrust at us from the drive thru window. Instead, we received two quesadilla wraps with tomatoes, wedge fries, and one order of yuca fries. So this is it for my family, Pollo Tropical. I won't give you another penny of our hard earned money. I truly hope the Pollo Tropical management team reads these reviews and makes some serious changes. I live near by and alway go to this location just because is very convenient for me. Comparing this store to other location i receive poor customer service, the staff is very unprofessional and unmotivated. Also I use the drive thru most of the times and also have a poor experience. I have been hitting this Pollo Tropical location for the past couple of years. The food is consistently good. It is not high end or organic, but it is pretty good quality for being so inexpensive. We feed 4 people for around $20 - it is almost impossible to do that anywhere else. We almost always get a whole chicken, plus 2 large sides (beans & rice) and fried yucca. We have eaten inside a few times, but we mainly get take out. The dining room can get messy at times, but overall it is pretty clean. I have never been through the drive through, but it is always packed. The service is always pretty good and the food comes out quickly as well, with no mistakes. I am a big fan of all of the sauces - I like the curry and the peri peri sauce. read more

I was excited to try the new options on the tropichop menu only to be told that they cannot give me what is on the menu. I wanted half rice with salad and I wanted to try the "NEW" chicken and pork only to be told that that is not an option. I read the menu over and over to make sure I wasn't missing some small print or restrictions but nothing. I asked the manager and she said that is a platter that only comes with fries. She had the nastiest attitude and her face said it all. If you can't be on the frontline of a restaurant then you need to be in the back where no one else can see the nasty looks you are giving. This Location has to be the worse one I have ever been. Unfortunately, it is the closest to my house, so I go often. As many times as I have visited, as many times I leave disappointed or even upset at the lack of care and service. Too often they lack things from the menu, at other times they get the order wrong, or even burn or overcook the meal. It's a disaster! I never ever have had a positive experience. Today their credit card system was down, I went to get cash but when I came back (10 minutes later at lunch time on a Saturday) they had run out of pork. However, the worst part was the almost insulting and non caring attitude of the employee. They ALL (for years) lack manners, customer care is non existent and they ALL act as they are annoyed that they need to be there. It has to poor top managerial decisions when choosing their employees. I want to emphasize that this has been happening for years! It's not the economy, the pandemic or the current management only, it goes above and beyond.
