This was another stop on my search for great fried chicken after a recent talk thread brought it to my attention. Seeing that I wanted a repeat visit at La Paletera for a new flavor afterwards, I headed to the Gulfton location and was richly rewarded. Brightly colored outside and inside in yellows and oranges, the format is very much like your standard KFC chain store. Menus are in both English and Spanish - and I like to practice my rusty college Spanish skills by reading the menu en Espanol. Notice I said "read" - after a bit of a debacle using my high school French in Montreal, I've been hesitant in trotting out the blunt instrument of my foreign languages skills. (Okay, my accent was laughingly called "country bumpkin" or whatever the translated words are in French. I'm not saying it for you. I'm traumatized enough.) I ordered the 2-piece meal ($4.99) which consists of a leg and thigh. A breast substitution will cost 80 cents more and I swapped out the thigh for it. It comes with a choice of 2 tortillas, a dinner roll, or a biscuit, along with one side. Having read up on the options, I knew I wanted to sample the starchy yucca fries. The young lady then asked if I'd like the tortillas or the dinner roll - no mention of the biscuit. Strange but I didn't bother pressing her on the missing option. Choosing the dinner roll, I was disheartened when she reached behind her to an open box of pre-bagged dinner rolls and slapped one on the tray. Nothing says "love" like a pre-bagged dinner roll, right? But, my heart rose up from the floor when she placed the chicken pieces on the tray: golden brown with crispy skin, they urged me to hurry up and find a seat to start eating. A salsa bar stocked with diced onions, limes, pico de gallo, a tomatillo sauce, and a roja mocajete allowed you to choose your accompaniment. Ketchup was banned to a separate counter but available. The pico de gallo was fresh and tasty with mouthfuls of the moist chicken - the roja mocajete sauce was a better salve for the crisped skin instead of ketchup, which I quickly removed from my tray. The chicken was really quite lovely - crisped skin but significantly less greasy than normal fried chicken due to its special rotisserie recipe. The meat was flavorful and juicy - the breast meat was a shade of white which was disturbing for its luminosity but also made for some really good eating. All in all, some really good fried chicken. The yucca fries were surprisingly good, too; dipped in the red sauce and ketchup in turn, it was good either way to have your fries "exotic" or "traditional". This gustatory Latin American trip turned out to be a satisfying discovery of Guatemalan-style fried chicken without a Brazilian churrascaria-style price. Granted, the store layout screams chain fast food but the food whispers "special fried chicken" but it's the food voice you should listen to and follow. If you have another voice telling you to do other things, I'd suggest putting them on hold. At least, until after the fried chicken. More importantly, after I put some distance from you. Another 3.5 star example.

We were starving so we ordered so many wings, some sides, and a couple of entrees to share. The portions were hearty, and the to-go options were perfect for family style and sharing I haven't ever stepped foot in the restaurant itself, so, I can't speak to the ambiance, decor, and overall vibe. I can speak to the service. It was painless to order. You can call, order online for delivery or pick up, you can also use one of the many food delivery apps. After we submitted our order we actually got a call from the restaurant confirming a couple of things. This was a nice touch because they didn't just assume, they wanted to make sure everything was correct. Also, the food arrived in no time at all Everything was tasty. Everyone looked food on their plates and even went back for seconds Some tips: I would order the wings because they have so much flavor, they are crispy, and it's easy to share/try various flavors They have an option to order an extra egg on the menu. We assumed this was for the fried rice, but this is the main reason we received a call from them asking where we wanted the egg lol Cheers!!

The food here never misses. It always comes out piping hot, flavorful, and in Texas‑sized portions (and yes... the drinks are strong, so pace yourself). Honestly, the best strategy is to order a few dishes and share -- that way you can taste everything without popping a button. This time I tried the Mulita taco for the first time and oh my goodness... delicious. My crew tore up the chicken nachos, the birria grilled cheese, and the taco plate. We even grabbed a chicken burrito to go for my husband at home. And that soft‑serve margarita deserves its own round of applause. BTW, our server was great. She kept a pulse on our eating pace and brought some to-go boxes when she saw us slowing down. If you haven't been, I absolutely recommend Dona Leti's. Just bring your patience, your appetite, and a designated driver -- because they do not play with those margaritas.

The flavors are excellent and not too spicy for anyone who is sensitive to spice. The food is pretty expensive and yes, the portions are pretty big, but a lot of the food presented is side food like rice, onions, and cheese. If you put those aside, the portions of the actual food is not that big. I also do not like how almost everything had an up charge. Shout out to our waiter for telling us if certain things had an up charge but almost everything we asked for had an up charge that was not written on the menu. For example, for my pupusa, I wanted bean and cheese instead of cheese and there was a one dollar upcharge. We asked for some jalapeños and that cost a dollar and the cup was so tiny. Also certain types of meats for certain types of tacos have an up charge that are not listed on the menu and I wish they would just be clear about that. They also made a mistake and overcharged me by three dollars which I did not really catch until after I paid... Our server was nice, but there are definitely pros and cons of the place.

I walked in and went to the cashier Devon, I asked him to give me a moment because it was my first time there and he offered to explain the menu to me. I said yes and he gave me the whole rundown. He explained the sauces, the fries, and toppings! The owner or manager was in and he was very helpful as well! I can tell he was so grateful for his staff. I could tell he was happy he smiled and also helped the staff in the back. Which in many ways makes a great leader. The food is really good! My burger had a lil kick to it which was *smacks lips* so good! The steak on the potato was soft not chewy and didn't have a lot of fat. They have a drive through which is how I even stumbled upon it, because all signs point towards the street. Overall I'd go back again and sit in to eat.

He gave me his favorite options since I've only been to a Beck's once in my life. He even helped me pick the best choices and combinations that were more financially flattering. Lol. He was personable, not pushy, patient, and pleasant. What a wonderful combination. I noticed his disposition with other customers and he maintained his helpfulness and cheerful yet chill disposition. I ended up ordering a kid's meal because I just needed something to nibble on while I go to my hair appointment across the street. I got a burger all the way with address bacon, extra crispy fries, and a lemonade. **Lemonade 7/10 Not too sweet and had a nice kick of tang. Great temperature. Cold enough to enjoy but not to hurt your teeth. (This is without ice since I never add ice to anything I drink). **Burger 8/10 Solid burger. No bells and whistles. Bacon was a good save or else I probably would have given it a 6.5 out of 10. The beef is a little dry which is kind of strange because it's a tad Pink as well. I like a well done burger, but I'll let it slide today. **Fries 2/10 I asked for extra crispy fries and they were very much like skinny baked potatoes. There's just something about a potatoey fry that I hate. I don't like the texture or the way it feels when I chew it. This was a major fail. Other than that, thanks to the very short wait time, and Devaughn, I had a great experience. I probably will never come back but I'm glad to know they have a wonderful staff member like Devaughn there. Keep shining!

The employee seemed like he was the only one and there was a couple dining in who seemed to be regulars after their farewells. I didn't realize it was a build your own bowl/sandwich/salad concept which I thought was unique! Everything was packaged nicely to go since we had to eat at home. I did make the mistake of not checking the order because we realized the pho broth wasn't included which was disappointing! I ended up not going back or calling to report it since I knew it would be too inconvenient to drive all the way back. After the kids refused it, I did try it vermicelli style but the steak was little too salty. The beef banh mi was good but the portion was much smaller than I expected compared to a traditional size. The eggrolls were also on the smaller side but were decent typically eggrolls. I also ended up trying the lychee lemonade but the flavoring wasn't as well balanced. Overall it was not as satisfactory as I would have hoped but wouldn't mind giving another chance to try other menu items like the pork banh mi or viet coffee. Edit after establishment's comment: I realized my misunderstanding of the menu of no broth included now. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy the steak as vermicelli and salad style as much either.
