So much bang for your buck and quality food. I'm definitely adding this to my restaurant rotation. I had a Gordos Combo, which included a whole chicken, Mexican rice, avocado salad, pinto beans, sweet fried plantains, and salchipapa. The chicken was savory, juicy, and there was sooo much flavor. It comes with a spicy green sauce that adds to the delicious flavor. The avocado salad was a good way to get our veggies in and the salchipapa was good (although getting it for takeout makes the fries a little soggy, so I'd recommend baking it a bit to make it crispier). My favorite side dish in this meal combo was the sweet fried plantains--I couldn't get enough of it. There is so much food in this combo meal that I think you can make four meals out of it (and still possibly have leftovers). Such a good value for ~$30 or so. We paid even less because there's some discount for your first order there! The people working there were super friendly. However they close early (7p), so plan accordingly!! Walked in with hubby on a sunny afternoon and the ladies were kind with hellos and smiles. Upon arrival we were already set on ordering to go, so as soon as we walk in, I expected to be given menus right away. That was not the case, my hubby grabbed one from the bar and proceeded to look at it while I waited for the waitress to attend to us. I ordered half chicken with two sides mini combo. My sides were an avocado salad and plantains. I like the open space in the restaurant, it helps to know where everything is while being there. I saw there is an open bar there with plenty of liquor to choose from. The food overall, was ok, the chicken was more on the dry side and the dressing should be placed on the side not on the salad , makes for a pretty soggy salad. Pollo a la brasa was only ok. The chickens are not very big. Aji verde - nice little kick and good flavor. Lomo saltado was not authentic. The meat was not cooked properly and looked steamed. It tasted like the sauce was just soy sauce. Spicy cassava - the spice blend makes the yuca taste much more flavorful. Recommend getting it over the non spicy. French fries - eh. I haven't had Peruvian in a while and My roomie hadn't had it at all which is surprising. Because we both had been to Mexico and South America on three separate occasions independently but I guess he just never got around to having Peruvian. So I suggested it and found this place on the Yelp app. We got there and although it said they were closing at 9 PM, it was still before eight and they were already closing. I asked them about that because I had wanted to dine in but they said they were closing early because Houston was expecting a winter storm which turned out not to be as bad as people were expecting. I guess last year they had a really bad storm which put out the electricity for for days but fortunately it wasn't as bad as that. That being said we ordered the Lomo Saltado plate which I recommended and after waiting a few minutes we were handed two separate bags with our goods and just had to go home and eat it. The flavor was decent I like this dish a lot. My only disappointment was the portion because we had paid $16 each with tax and so I was expecting a bigger plate but it did taste good although the fries were soggy but that's to be expected if they throw it in a to go box right after cooking and then we had to drive it home. My roomie liked the Aji sauce which I was telling him about and I was saying we just need to make some on our own because it's really easy to do. I don't know if I go back just because it just seemed small portions for the amount that you pay and I always say this since I cook apt --that I can make this better at home and we'd have a large quantity of it to enjoy, but I digress. If it were located in Siberia, it'd be "Pullover Bravo" because it's so cold. If it were greasy and caused heart attacks, it'd be "Pulminary Bravo" and I'd advise not eating here. What not to get: Stuck being the side b**** of your Saltypapa. Pollo Bravo is easily the best rotisserie chicken in the Houston area. They have four or five locations and all of them serve delicious moist tender perfect Peruvian-Mexican Fusion rotisserie chicken with amazing green sauce. I don't like fusion food, but this is authentic traditional Peruvian with a little Mexican on the menu here and there, so it works. Nobody is butchering any cuisine here. It's the real sh**, and it's very affordable too. Their sides are all excellent especially the Salchipapas (as opposed to your Salty Papa... I know a good therapist?) which are delicious French fries mixed with hot dogs. It tastes a lot better than it sounds. Like my Aunt with the voicebox. The beans are great too, and service is nice. Hi to the girls working here (waves). Prices are not bad at all and portions are pretty decent. This is not DC or New York with masses of these Peruvian options available. Even the South (Carolinas and such) have more of these type of places than Houston does. So to have one this good in this city is really awesome. And the other locations are great too, especially the one up on Long Point. The only negative is that I have tried their desserts, and while they are highly rated I didn't really love either of them. But then I don't come here for the desserts. I come here for the best rotisserie chicken and sides in Houston. And if you think you know a better one, Peruve it. And if Mel Gibson yelled "you can take our lives, but you'll never take our chicken!" it's be "Pollo Braveheart." And if lots of surgically enhanced princesses who make X-rated movies for a living came here to eat, it'd be "Pollo Brazzers." (I know at least one who does, and I can Peruve it. The proof is in the pictures. The proof is not in the pudding though because I don't like the puddings here). Considered a Mexican/Peruvian fusion restaurant, this place specializes in roasted chicken. You can get plates ranging from 1/4 chicken to a whole one. Sides range from plantains to an avocado salad. You're served a really spicy green sauce when you are seated. But what doesn't make sense to me is why serve it so soon if there are no chips to accompany the sauce. I wish they served bread to go with the chicken. I felt like I was missing some carbs. Otherwise, Pollo Bravo does have delicious chicken and it's an affordable place to take your family. The rotisserie chicken here is very good! I also liked their avocado salad, sweet fried plantains and the flan neopolitan. The food prices are OK, but the costs add up quickly. Also, there is around a 3.7% upcharge for paying with credit card. I didn't like their restaurant location and parking availability. The plaza is very small and tight and was a little hard to locate the restaurant. Customer service was not great. It took awhile for someone to help me when I entered the restaurant. Big Tip : request for their Green Sauce!! It is their spicy sauce, but nothing to burn your mouth habanero style. Just enough spicy kick to keep the taste even more satisfied! I had to some errands near Pollo Bravo the other day. I thought to give it a try without reading any reviews. I thought it was a little pricey for 1/4 chicken and 2 sides for $7.99. The chicken thigh & leg was suspiciously tender. My avocado salad only had 5 drops of dressing. I didn't care much because I normally eat salads plain. Then, my green plantains was fried. 3.5 stars. Peruvian food might be my favorite cuisine of them all. I had been to Pollo Bravo once before as I used to work in the area but this was my first time visiting their new location. They essentially moved across the street. While the new space might be a bit smaller, it's nicer. It's in the same shopping center as Piada Italian Street Food so you should be able to find a parking spot. I stopped by for lunch and had a Peruvian staple: 1/2 Peruvian chicken with two sides. For my sides, I went with the fried plantains and salsipapa. I probably spelled that one wrong but it's essentially fries with slices of sausage. I've seen this as an appetizer at other spots so it was pretty cool that Pollo Bravo offers it as a side dish. Service was average, nothing notable. My coworkers raved about this place and brought me here, and I'm always a sucker for delicious Peruvian food so this was an easy choice for lunch. Chicken was well seasoned, juicy, and well cooked overall, and perfectly paired with the green sauce. I was recommended to dowse all of my food in the green sauce, and was not disappointed. It was kind of like Mexican rice but not very good. I think it was supposed to be a Peruvian restaurant although they had some Mexican stuff on the menu which I thought was a bit weird, but I guess that isn't so weird for H-Town. First time here. First thoughts are small and cozy. Even at its busiest this place cannot get too crazy. I got some chilaquiles verdes to go. Described as "deep fried tortilla in green tomatillo sauce, topped with Monterey Jack cheese, sour cream, beans and 1/4th roasted chicken. My review is based off of the roasted/rotisserie style chicken offered at this location. I've visited this place approximately 5 times and can't seem to choose anything else. This chicken is so flavorful and inexpensive. A chicken plate comes with 2 sides; i get white rice and sweet fried plantains. The Mexican rice is good too. I have yet to have an unpleasant visit, other than the door closing slowly when it was cold.
