Stopped by to try out the Bandeja Paisa and some beef empanadas...first of all the food had such great flavor. The rice was perfectly cooked and the steak was juicy and seasoned just right. The empanadas were big and golden yellow, crispy outside and filled up and warm inside. As for the service; it was impeccable. My family and I were quickly acknowledged and seated. Our table was very clean and noticed all the countertops and throughout the restaurant was clean. The music playing was very inviting. I was also offered to try the chicken empanadas and traditional Colombian drinks and I am so glad I was able to try it. It completed the meal! It is service and food like the one Monos Colombian restaurant offers that everyone in Houston needs must try. Thank you Monos staff, chefs, and entire team for bringing such an amazing food experience to us. Keep up the good work and can't wait to stop by again. read more

This is second time I've eaten here. In my opinion Monos is the best Colombian restaurant in town. Their meat empanadas are outstanding. They're served fresh from the grill and have just the right mixture of meat and crust. In addition to the empanadas I had a Bistec dish, which was so delicious. My dinner companions, both of whom eat Colombian food here and in Latin America, raved about how delicious the food was. We will be back soon read more

Ordered lechon encendido,beef empanada. He ordered picada and beef empanada. My dish was pulled pork with sauce, rice, beans and plaintains. The medium/large was filling. The rice was fluffy , plaintains was soft and sweet. The pulled pork was the best part. It was extremely soft and well seasoned. The beef empanada was delicious also. I tried his plate also. It was family style plate enough for 2 friends or family and more. It had beef empanada,sausage,soft sweet plaintains ,unripe plaintain,steak, ribs,potatoe , pork and more. It was really good and so was mango smoothie. Planning to bring our friends and family next time. Almost forgot salsa was tasty too. Now time to walk it off. read more

I just got hung up on twice now after calling to speak to someone who could help with my order. I ordered 3 Arepas de pollo (along with 3 empanadas) Apparently they don't make these, but they decided to take the order anyways without advising us and charged me for three arepas con carne asada (which is not on the menu either) It was a pick up order and My Mom and Aunt were surprised when they saw the price at pick up. It was clearly not what we ordered or wanted. We were way over charged for in edible food. They were told they had to take the order no matter what and pay. I was given three dry pieces of grilled chicken with three huge dry arepas, nothing else. No salad, no cheese, no condiments, not even a napkin. I called once to speak with a manager and I was placed on hold then hung up on. The second time I called, it seemed as they didn't understand English somehow, even though they did the first time, I got hung up on again. Yo hablo español perfectamente (soy latino), but three strikes your out on my part. Total lack of professionalism and customer service. It's sad when people are willing to spend money for good food and you take the money and serve cardboard and intimidation instead. Clearly we will keep our money and patronage with our other awesome Colombian neighborhood restaurants where the food is great and we are never forced to pay for things we didn't order. read more

We had a delicious dinner here. We enjoyed perfectly fried tostones and sampled an beef empanada-perfectly crispy outside, chewy inside and the shredded beef had good flavor. We had a passion fruit with water, which is like juice blended with ice to make it thick and slushy like. We had the lechon pork which was so flavorful, but my favorite was the ajiaco potato soup. I was completely ignorant of it, but ordered it and it was amazing! I'm loving the herb that goes in it. It was too much to finish and they kindly brought us more broth to add to our to go portion. Pretty good place they have a different type of bandeja named bandeja montañera and campesina. It is different from the bandeja paisa. Instead of a slice of thin steak it is crushed and mixed with the beans. And the plantains are fried and flattened instead of it being soft. They have a different menu than the menus you see at any other colombian restaurants. They have a great selection of dishes that I have tasted in different parts of colombia so it is pretty nice to see these dishes again and in the states. I am glad they are trying to be unique instead of having the same dishes you see in other colombian restaurants. I enjoyed it here and I am glad that I was recommended here. OMG! OMG! OMG! This place is so good. Very clean. Very friendly. Very fresh tasting. They clearly cater to Spanish speaking customers, but they do have English on the menu and the waitresses broken English was quite sufficient. It was easy to find several delicious items to choose from. I had Ropa Vieja with black beans, rice, and plantains. It was delicious. This is a tiny little place in a strip center and easy to miss. In the area for meeting, my coworker and I were looking for a place for lunch. She is from Columbia and suggested Mono's, as I had never tried Columbian food before. I really enjoyed the food here! I had the Pechuga a la Plancha, which had a wonderful flavor and came with rice, beans and plantains. Oh, and how I loved the green chili sauce on the table! Between my colleague and I, we went through the entire jar on the table. I am now a serious Columbian food fan! read more

Unfortunately, I came to Mono's to have dinner with my sister and niece, never did I expect it to be unpleasant. One of the waitresses was extremely rude and embarrassed me in front of my sister and niece. I was appalled by her remarks. I have been coming here ever since it opened and have referred my friends to come here because the food is very good. Pure homestyle meal here. If you want some good food, this is the spot. Looks like they downsized since the last time I came here a couple of years back. I ordered the beef empanadas, an extra side of plaintains and the plate with the steak, sausage and pork belly with sunny side up egg and beans. I enjoyed the plaintains and the pork belly. The steak was too thin & chewy. The sausage was bleh. My hubby wasn't a fan of the food either. The empanadas were stuffed and fat and was ok, I've had better.
