Under new management! Over the past months la gran sorpresa has been getting remodeled. The restaurant has been re-named La Cazuela. There is still a way to go with thebut the place is looking much better and the food is fantastic!! Try the empanadas of course! But also try the fried fish and fish soup, the bandeja paisa, and the sobre barriga, those are all our favorites and there is more dishes left to try.

Translation: 'The Big Surprise.' I ordered 'Pollo Sudado a la Criola.' According to an online Spanish-to-English translation, (http://translation.babylon.com/spanish/to-english/sudado/ ) that means a chicken covered in sweat . Now THAT"S a Big Surprise!! Chicken thigh and wing in the orange-colored sauce was tasty, but somewhat plain and home-style. It came with plantains, rice and beans. Distracting from the experience is a TV with a soap opera on that was too loud. Décor is simple, clean and pleasant. Of special note are the charming hand-made small house facades that hang on the wall.

Walked onto Richmond Avenue while my car was getting fixed. It was getting kinda hot outside so I decided to walk into the first decent place I see and grab a snack/drink; and this place was it. Wasn't too hungry so I ordered some Yucca Fries and mango juice so that I could sit there for a while and believe me, I was amazed! The Yucca fries tasted really fresh, with the perfect amount of crispiness and a bit soft on the inside. They served some ground chili paste on the side which was unbelievable! I had the mango juice in water (I don't know what other kind they offer, the lady just asked me 'Water?' when I asked for the juice and I thought she meant water on the side with my meal as well, so I nodded Yes : l), and it turned out to be super refreshing and cooling, which helped on my 1 mile walk back to the mechanic's! Definitely need to go here again and explore the rest of the menu.

Awesome, authentic Colombian food. One of my favorites in town. Homemade arepas are the best.

Great empanadas! Doesn't look like much from the outside, but it has a good variety of Colombian food, made the traditional way.

It fills the space in the best way possible and immediately pulls you in for the full experience. One thing that really stood out to me was the customer service. The staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming, which, unfortunately, hasn't always been my experience at other Colombian restaurants. Many places I've visited primarily speak Spanish, which can sometimes make ordering a challenge. Here, I felt completely at ease and well taken care of. We started with the beef empanadas, and I highly recommend them. The crust was perfectly crispy, while the filling was soft, flavorful, and comforting. Paired with their salsa, which had just the right kick of spice, it was an excellent combination that made for a strong start to the meal. I ordered my go-to favorite, the Bandejita. The presentation was beautiful and appetizing, but sadly, the bold flavors I'm used to just weren't quite there for me. The flat steak tasted under-seasoned, and I actually found myself adding salt, which I've never had to do before at other restaurants. The pork sausage also seemed a bit dry inside, but my husband said that's how it should be, so perhaps that was just my preference. The beans had a different flavor than what I'm accustomed to as well, not bad by any means, just noticeably different. On a positive note, the pork belly was perfectly crispy, exactly how it should be, and the plantains were sweet and cooked to perfection. Overall, the menu looks incredibly tempting, and there are still plenty of dishes I'd love to come back and try. While I may skip the Bandejita next time, I definitely plan on returning to explore more of what they have to offer.
