I've been coming to this place for years but I had a terrible experience last night. I ordered the quarter dark with two sides I ate some and saved the rest for the next morning. I woke up feeling really sick and wasn't sure what it was from until I re heated my leftovers as I was eating the chicken I saw a whole bunch pink uncooked meat. I stopped eating the food and threw the whole meal away. Luckily it was cheap but a waste of my money. Maybe they were rushing that night I'm not sure but I won't be going back. On top of that I found a piece of hair in my food the people in the front serve food without hair nets really nasty. I have pictures to prove my point. read more

I love supporting small businesses like this plus it's close to my house. The chicken is good! I'm not crazy about their yucca or dipping sauces... Crisp and Juicy definitely has them beat in those two areas. Still a great choice for a relatively healthy, quick pickup meal on weeknights. Always amazing... especially on days you are craving it. I work right near this place. It looks bad from the outside, but it's very good inside! The price isn't bad, and the portions are great. I often get a whole chicken's combo meal with sides.. and take out. It's cheap and convenient! Around lunch, you can see a whole bunch of men watching soccer games on the TV. But it's relaxed and a nice quiet place to eat lunch alone too. Everything that they make is good. I normally get steamed vegetables and rice/beans.. or the house salad which is good. This place got worst with each visit. First time: Food was great, service okay. Second time: Food was still pretty good, but it took them forever to get my food packed because they were watching America's Got Talent -___- Third time: I wanted my meal with fried yuca, but when I got home, I discovered they gave me fries. Fourth time: Yucca was cold. House Salad was good. Chicken is close to the salty boarder. Not bad. This place is one of our after-gym protein locations, and the chicken ain't half bad. At least it was warm, tasty, and I didn't get the impression it had been sitting around forever. We got a combo deal, which wasn't too badly priced. The rice side kind of sucked, so I won't get that again. The yucca here is pretty tasty, as well. I think the guys ringing us up were laughing at me, though. So...one star loss. Jerks! Please save your money. I've only been here once and the lady who was taking my order was so rude. Like she wanted me to order as fast as I could and leave. There was no one else inside so it's not like I was taking anyone else's time. The chicken was not even that good. After reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting much, but boy was I surprised! The chicken was juicy and delicious and cooked perfectly. The fried yucca looked like it might have been frozen (they all had the same shape), but it was delicious! I found myself cramming them down my gullet. The empanadas were OK, but I'm not a fan of them in general. I also loved the plantains - hot and fresh and yummy. We will definitely be making this a frequent stop for inexpensive, delicious dinners for the family. read more

Way too salty. Not sure if this was a fluke or if this standard as it was my first visit. I had 1/4 white, black beans and white rice. I tasted everything independently and it was all salty. Some people might enjoy this meal, but I won't be back. It's also on the pricey side. read more

Pretty good. My husband and I tried pollo brasero for the first time this week. The chicken is tender and flavorful. The black beans were cooked perfectly. The highlight of our meal was the empanadas. Very tasty! I particularly enjoyed the beef empanadas. The plantains were not as juicy as I like plus you have to pay extra if you choose that as a side. The steamed vegetables were nothing special. Quite bland. Overall, we gave brasero a B. Our favorite Peruvian chicken spot still reigns. read more

The chicken itself is pretty good, they skimp on the sides though. The side orders are also not that good. Pollo Brasero is definitely a notch below Sardi's. They skimp on the amount of sauce and charge $.25 extra for each sauce cup besides the free two that you get. The chicken is very well seasoned and moist, but not dripping, which peruvian chicken shouldn't be like to begin with. The fries are very nice and hot, they make new batches very, very often. I've always had really great customer service here. I don't see what the hype is with the other peruvian chicken places is in the area? Went for the first time today and I must say the chicken was pretty good, the sides were good and i love the fact that they sell salteñas, clean place but the prices on line do not correspond with the prices at the location and not by little but a lot. Now here comes my biggest complaint and why I will no longer continue to give them my business, I believe in having respect for your employees in the room and behind close doors and the older lady that was running the register which I believe is in charge was the rudest person I ever encountered at an establishment. Not only was she rude to customers but uncomfortably rude to her employees. Food is pretty good but service is horrible - specifically from the lady at the register who may be an owner. She rarely smiles and most times has an attitude. I guess she forgets that small businesses need loyal customers more than anything and customers like businesses that appreciate their business - especially when there are other choices. I LOVE THIS PLACE! It's the best place to get Peruvian chicken. The chicken tastes SO good and is roasted to perfection. The fries are delicious too. This place is your standard Peruvian chicken place. Really nothing to write home about. I will say they are reasonably priced. You can get a family platter (whole chicken, two sides and two drinks) for $20. Dinner for 4 easy. I will say this the older lady that works the register isn't friendly at all. She seems to always come off like you're bothering her when you place an order. I go here on a regular basis because the food is decent and its two minutes from my house. read more

Pollo Brasero has good food for reasonable prices. They pretty much serve Peruvian chicken and some sides. That's about all. However, this specialization has given them the ability to provide this food as fast as any fast food establishment. My wife particularly liked their sartenas, which are inexpensive. There are two caveats to this - first, the white meat can be dry. The other thing, and I took off a point for this, they sell drinks by the can and have nothing on tap. read more

Great food. Great prices. Very accommodating staff. Chicken was spiced perfectly and fall off the bone tender. The 2 sauces (I don't know what they are called) were delicious. A mile or so south of here there are Pollo joints 2-3 per block and many are very good. The BIG difference here is that it's super clean and nicely decorated. Meaning: bring the wife wife and family without any issue. The "other joints" are less than spotless. BTW 2 flat screens. One was world soccer and the other golf masters. Disclaimer; the chicken was not the "best I've ever had". Despite that, I really liked this place. While it's billed as a Peruvian Chicken place the menu is actually a mix of all three of my favorite South American countries: Perú (chicken, lomo saltado and ceviche), Bolivia (salteñas) and Argentina (alfajores and argentine style empanadas). As mentioned before the chicken was good but I wouldn't call it the best I ever had; I would say the same for the salteñas. Both were missing something but couldn't quite put my finger on it. On the plus side the chicken was a little spicier than other places and I did like that. The empanadas were awesome- in my opinion the must try dish here. Also, the alfajores were definitely more Argentine style than the Peruvian/Bolivian ones you normally get in the area (Argentine ones are better imho). I was somewhat disappointed that they had no coffee to drink with my alfajor but it was made up for by the fact that they serve Peruvian and Bolivian beers and Argentine wine... Something You never see at the hole in the wall stateside Peruvian chicken places. The Classic Peruvian soft drinks, Inca Kola and Chicha Morada were also available. Finally, I would add that the overall the decor is nicer than a lot of the other more barebones Peruvian chicken places in the area; it was a pleasant place to have a meal. read more

This is not a restaurant that you would stop in to based on the outside. We used this restaurant as a meeting place for the students who were traveling to Peru for Spring Break from our school. The food was served quickly and was delicious!!! I enjoyed it so much that I took some home for my family who enjoyed it as well. The plantains were a bit overcooked but were tasty. The sauces that were given to go along with the chicken were also very good. The staff was very polite and friendly. I do plan to visit there again (and again and again!!!) read more

Service is terrible and they are very rude, especially the woman who works there. I believe the woman is actually one of the owners. I have given this place a number of chances although I have never felt very welcomed here. Let me tell you about my wonderful experience there today. I went in around 7pm. There was only one customer in front of us. I walked to the counter and no one said a word. The young guy was preparing someone else's food, possibly getting food from the cook in back. He was facing toward the back, and he turned around to look at us. He did not say a word, and he continued doing what he was doing. My sister said hello, and the woman said, hello. Then, she continued to walk past us to the cash register. Now, this is several minutes later, and they didn't take our order nor did they let us know that they would be with us shortly. Nothing!!!! What can kind of customer service is this????? Please tell me!?!? We walked the hell out and will not return. The food is just mediocre anyway. read more

Pollo Brasero is by far the worst chicken place I have been to. Their chicken was so burnt on the outside that when I took a bite it covered my teeth with soot, the chicken meat itself had no taste whatsoever and their sides were stale and dry. I was very dissapointed with their service considering there was no line and I was the only customer. I'd rather go to SABROSO Grill in downtown Silver Spring. I have no Idea what the other people are talking about calling this place the worst place to go to for pollo a al brasa, they obviously have never been to Don Pollo... this place is better then crisp and juciy, the chicken has more flavor and the mashed potatoes dont taste like bland. The empanadas are my favorite thing there, I dont live around the area anymore so i have to get my bf to bring some home on his way from work.
