I had a funeral dinner after my brothers wake for six people. We were all very sad about his passing. We ordered off the menu and also ordered 2 meals to go and a whole pie for family members that could not come. We left a 16% tip for the waitress which I always do at restaurants. On our way out, the owner ran up to us and stopped us, I thought she was she was going to give her condolences. But she said we owe more money for a tip, it should be 20%. I pulled $20.00 of my purse and gave it to her to calm her down. Little does she know she just lost thousands of dollars due to this stupid act of hers. Wow. Been here many times, yet to leave a review. Went here with some close friends for dinner. Started with a shot of Krupnik at the bar, followed up with a delightful Manhattan. The bar is a throwback to the 50's; very cozy, very Polish. Aimee said the wedding photo behind the bar looked like her babcia. The dining room in the back has a gazebo in the middle, lit up and with greenery. We had the pierogie appetizer (Aimee sprinkles on sugar) as a group, delicious. The calamari was also good. For dinner, Aimee had the 'Little Stosh'; one golumbki, which was just like home. I had the Polish platter, which also included a sausage and two pierogi (Aimee ate those). Every dinner comes with pumpkin ice cream for dessert. Had a Polish Martini with dinner - a Martini with krupnik (lol). If you are looking for authentic Polish, you owe it to yourself to come here. Entered through the front door never realizing there was a HUGE car parking lot to the side! Took us a while to figure out what was th dining room, since we entered and there was the bar to the left and a white tabletops to the right. After a few minutes we were told about the dining area at the other end! Entering there were already a few tables occupied; we went to the back. A couple came in and were seated near us five minutes later, and we sat and waited while they were waited on first though we were seated first. Finally our orders were taken about ten minutes AFTER we sat, and 6mins after the people were seated after us and were waited on first. Wife ordered a fish fry with potato, and I ordered the baked fish and was never asked how I wanted MY potato. We also ordered calamari which was quickly served and without tentacles, BUT it was very good! Five minutes later came our meal and the wife had her fish served with fries, while I got her pieces of baked potato. The baked fish came out cool to the taste, which I suspect was pre-cooked and just slighted heated before serving as it was NOT hot. The big dining room was very occupied with many tables already occupied, and more people coming in after we arrived. Due to and since finishing my military time, I've always looked at the air vents wherever I eat, and this was the very FIRST eating place I've ever been in - since I began noticing air vents - and each vent was clean and not filthy with dark spots of dirt due to months/years of dirty air blowing out. Along with the free soup I enjoyed while wife had a free salad earlier, and the free dessert after our table was cleared, this is truly an unique place with these tasty freebies! Yup, this is another WOW place. I waited too long to visit and it's Sad because this place is fantastic. I entered from the street side and I had to walk past the bar and into the main dining. The place is a bit rustic but it fits the culture of the food. The staff were very pleasant and always showed a wonderful smile. I ordered the typical Polish Platter and it was amazing. It came with sausage, stuffed cabbage, a potato, two pierogi's; one cheese and one potato, and sauerkraut. It was an amazing dish and it also came with dessert, pumpkin ice cream pie and coffee. I'm in heaven, so much food and the price is very low for what you get. Ella was a perfect host, she was always kinda and very attentive and friendly. Her accent was very appropriate for the ambiance and she was amazing. I also ordered two Muddled Old Fashions and these were delicious. One of the best family-owned restaurants in Niagara Falls. On our first visit, we noticed that everyone who came through the door was greeted by their first name from the bartender/waitstaff. A good sign that folks keep coming back. The menu is a bit limited, but it has all the polish staples one could want along with a few comfort food items. We tackled some seafood chowder, a polish platter, and a polish reuben, all of which were delicious. I already have my eye on the special breaded porkchop that is only served on Thursdays for the next visit. No need for street parking as the building has a large lot. First time coming to the Polish Nook and yes I would come back and hoping for one exception: THE WAIT TIME! Literally my only complaint is that we waited an entire hour for our meals to come out for a table of 4, 3 of which were fish fry's! No meal is worth an hour wait to me. Now on to the good stuff... Can't beat the fish fry price which came with: bread and butter, soup or salad, fish, coleslaw, choice of potato (fries, baked, or parsley I think), and dessert. $13.95. Fish is a breaded haddock. I chose a salad with the house dressing which was like a sweet vinaigrette. Loved it. The fish was so crispy and delicious! And the real kicker: I have hated coleslaw my whole life.., always wanted to like it but can't stand more than one bite. So I normally don't even try it anymore but theirs looked so good I tried it and I actually ate half of it! So good! Fries were good too, but hey, they're fries. I also tried a bite of the stuffed cabbage which I am very picky about because my nana makes the very best and often I will actually have a hard time swallowing someone else but this was not bad at all! I would eat it. Dessert was the star for me; some sort of vanilla ice cream with pumpkin concoction topped with whipped cream. Devine! I would absolutely come here again and cross my fingers that service will be faster. This restaurant has been on my radar for around a year. Nestled in a neighborhood, where if you didn't know about it or YELP , one would miss out on this treasure of a place. My mom and I were huge fans of Polish authentic home cooking. Stopping here was win, to honor her memory, and our love of local Polish food. The décor in this family owned restaurant, with long wood bar, and large dining room fit for being open since 1964. Family run restaurants are cherished within any community. I would rate their food, as others have wrote Grandmas home cooking....accept I actually had a polish grandma, she didn't make pierogi, but did make a lot of other great things, before she passed. On to the food, I ordered the sampler platter of their pierogi, which was three smaller size that came with chopped up onions, cheese, kraut, and potato. With it a side of sauerkraut. The pierogis were melt in your mouth, the cheese had a sweeter texture then, my usually favorites from my local Polish restaurant in my neighborhood. Great place serving a cuisine I almost never have the opportunity to eat! I ordered the Polish platter, hubs got a smaller dish and I gave him some of my pierogi and sausage so we effectively both had the same thing. My favorites were the pierogi and the galombki, and the not super sour kraut. The sausage was also good, quite mild, the potato and soup were fine but not super savory (I almost never salt my food - I had to salt the soup a little). The sauce on the galombki was creamier and less tangy than I have had it previously but I wouldn't know authentic Polish food if it bit me so I can't comment as to whether that is good or bad, just that I personally like it a little more "sweet and sour". The Jewish version of this dish may be a little different, coloring my preferences. The dinner comes with bread and dessert, which is a pumpkin ice cream pie. Hubby loved it, I don't care for anything with nutmeg so I gave him mine after a bite, but that is a personal preference thing and no reflection on the quality. If you like pumpkin pie and cold desserts you will like this, I just don't like pumpkin pie in general. Prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food and that it is an underrepresented cuisine. Service was good, although I had to tell the busboy that we were saving our bread to go with the meal. Poor kid was beating himself up over trying to take it after the soup course, we told him it is no big deal. Please, be nice to the busboy! I feel bad that he was so mad at himself over a trivial error. There is plenty of parking, and it is free. We will definitely return next year when we are back in town! read more

Ordered a sprite later and it never came. App (shrimp cocktails) took forever and waitress apologized and said they don't have anything ready on Wednesdays because they're closed sun-tues. What an absolutely delightful gem of a restaurant tucked away. Maybe it isn't tucked away and this is the place to be!! I was in town from Dallas and came in for dinner and it felt like family as soon as walking in. Now my fellow diner did know some of the staff members but the experience was so very welcoming and I'd gather to say if I went again I would be welcomed the same, as if I was family. Such a cozy interior, I sat in the back, the front looked to have a bar area and though I did see patrons there I didn't hear them at all. The food, oh the food, I got the sampler dish I believe it was the Polish platter which had the most scrumptious sausage, pyrohy, gulompky, potatoes and cabbage. The cabbage, I guarantee they would never part ways with the cabbage recipe as I've never had cabbage melt in my mouth the way their cabbage did. When I say everything was amazing, it was. Your meal is even topped off with a dessert of a pumpkin pie, equally delicious, if you have room!! When I tell you NOT to pass this restaurant up, if you are looking for food that immediately brings memories or just makes you feel comfortable this is it. Will definitely be back when I'm in town. First time here and it was great. I ordered the fish fry and it was so fresh and flaky not like a regular fish fry that's greasy and thick. The dill coleslaw was a nice surprise. I have never had that before and it was yummy. I also had the pierogi trio (potato, sauerkraut and cheddar). Absolutely delicious. At the end of my meal I enjoyed the pumpkin pie ice cream that came with my meal which was the perfect ending to a great meal. Their pumpkin ice cream pie is the absolute bomb!! What an unsuspecting place in the middle of what seemed to me like a residential neighborhood. I was worried I was going into someone's house. We got the polish platter with soup, coffee and pumpkin ice cream pie! Their golabki (or golumpki) cabbage covered beef was so smooth, savory and delectable! The sausage and pierogis were great. Our party went to this out of the way restaurant on the advice of a former Niagara Falls resident who said that the food was delicious, the service was impeccable, the price was right and the homey atmosphere was comfortable. She was correct on all counts. We planned to eat light this evening and started with the pierogi sampler, offering a cheese, a sauerkraut and potato pierogi. All were tender and delicious served with a sautéed onions. The reuben sandwich was also a big hit with its use of Polish sausage and tasty kraut on a delicious rye. The sandwich was so hefty that half was enough and the not-so-light meal provided tomorrow's lunch in a doggie bag. The meal was completed with creamy pumpkin ice cream pie that the Polish Nook is known for. The Polish Platter which offered a sample of all the specialties - soup or salad, cabbage rolls, sausage, sauerkraut, potatoes, and pierogis and dessert - looked delicious but too overwhelming for our appetites. I think that if a smaller version was offered, we would have ordered that instead. Maybe next time we will but will have to skip lunch. read more

Every Polish meal is made from the original recipe from MA'Ma Kajfasz which started this wonderful family owned restaurant. You can get great pierogis, Polish sausage and the best sauerkraut you will ever have . Then if you are not looking for Polish food then you still are in for a great treat . You can get the best surf and turf for a great price . Every meal to my surprise is complemented with coffee or tea and a Niagara Falls classic "pumpkin ice cream pie". Fortunately there's ample street parking, in addition to their lot. It's definitely a cozy space - when you walk in through the front, you enter a bar area with some seating on the opposite wall. I feel like the building used to be a house that they converted into a restaurant, it still retains that 50's/60's house interior feel to it. Came here with a huuuuuuge dinner party, and I liked how accommodating the place was for something like 30 or so people. The service was pretty decent given the size of our party too. Our orders were taken and our food came out in a really decent time frame, which I have to give them credit for. I ordered the pierogi platter, which was only just an appetizer plate with your three standard types of pierogi on it. They were pretty good, but super greasy. We walked in here on a Saturday evening at 5:00pm and it was pretty quiet. The decor is old school with a large bar as soon as you walk in and a dining room to the right. No booths, just tables. Some guy at the bar was yelling at the TV which was distracting. The server greeted us and took our drink order. No beer on tap, but she did recommend a Polish beer, so we went with that, very tasty. Their entrees were priced $11 and up and come with bread, soup or salad, dessert, and coffee or tea. Not a lot of main course choices, so we went with the fish fry for only $11.50. The drinks were served quickly, and the bread came in a basket, it was fresh and tasty. The chicken and rice soup I had was good, but the pieces of chicken they put in it had bones, making me spit them out. They should be more careful on that. The salad wasn't the crunchiest, but the homemade house dressing had a nice vinegar sweetness to it. The fish fry plates came within 20 minutes with a good sized piece of fish, but the inside was watery and the breading came off far too easily. The breading was plain tasting. The fries were undercooked. For dessert there are no choices, just serving you frozen pumpkin pie, which was delicious. The coffee was also really good. The service here was friendly, though sometimes another sever would serve you the dishes, which was confusing. The restroom for men was tiny and needed updating, about 30 years ago. read more

First things first- I would give it 4.5 stars but Yelp doesn't have that option. Very minor things but good things first. Fantastic waitress so nice, just attentive enough without being annoying, perfect service. The food was so good, I cleared my plate, and was so full by the end. Loved that the entree comes with coffee and dessert, most places don't include that with the entree so it's a nice perk. The prices are phenomenal for everything you get it's an amazing deal. Now because I'm way too picky the little cons are, the food isn't properly seasoned, well prepared, but be ready to use your salt shaker. The cheese pierogi was way too sweet for my liking, and I felt the sauerkraut was bland. Not serious offenses but it was noted. Definitely will return. Service was absolutely horrendous!!! After 20 minutes we finally flagged someone down to request water. After 30 minutes we asked about our server, and the other server was surprised that we hadn't seen anyone at all. Then when we finally were able to order, the sever was rude. When we asked about sour cream she told us that "We have it. You just have to ask!" After 2 hours, our food finally arrived, with no contact from anyone at the Restaraunt. The server told us that there was a group of 17 that were here before us, which happens, but lack of communication/a heads up was quite frustrating. My food wasn't cooked (at all as my French fries were freezer burned and barely warm) my steak came out rare (I asked for Very Well Done). The baked potatoes didn't come with anything, butter or sour cream). When I finally flagged someone down (10 minutes later) to send my inedible steak back, I was worried we would never see it again. The people who were seated 30 minutes after us at the next table not only were greeted immediately, but they had their entire meal, and paid/left before we were served our entrees! My friend who ordered one of the specials asked about the sauce on her stuffed fish, the reply from our server was super helpful: "I don't know". 20 minutes after sending my steak back, it arrived...medium-well; thankfully edible because I didn't want to wait anymore! My sister ordered the Sausage special, and received 1/2 a sausage with no side option provided (it was parsley potatoes apparently but no explanation provided beforehand). No drink order was offered, and no communication until our food arrived. We had reservations and were seated at 6:30 PM. We were not served our salads until 7:15 PM (after taking our order finally at 7). Our entrees arrived at 8:30 PM and we finally left at 9:30 PM. This was the WORST service. Although the food was mostly good, aside from the fries, it is definitely not somewhere worth going to if you are in a rush. Plus, there was no apology about the delay, and again, absolutely no communication. We constantly had to try to flag someone down to get more water (which we only got refilled one time). Definitely would make it a 0 star location! read more
