Pierogi dinner
Rachel E.

The service here was outstanding. The owner's fiancée was so personable and gave our family the low down on how this place came to be and walked us through all the generations that came before them that had such an impact on how this place started. He was funny and indulged my older parents in all of their conversations and was so gracious with them. The food was good and there was a wide range of options. The specials held a lot of seafood options. We opted for two of the specials: walleye fried fish, 2 oyster baskets. We also got the pierogi dinner. All of the meals came with soup along with their sides. 3 of us got the seafood bisque and one got the galumpi soup, all of which were very good. The desserts were amazing!!! We got both the molasses and snickerdoodle cookies ($2 each), both the tres leches and raspberry cupcake ($2 each), orange chocolate cream pie ($7), apple crumb pie ($7), and salted caramel bar with nuts $7. It was a great spot for us to visit while on vacation.

Goulompki soup and Polish beer!. I am not a fan of tomato base soups and I am also half polish both both the soup and beer were fantastic.

This is a nice family friendly hole in the wall restaurant. If you want some down home good cooking, this is where to get it. From authentic and delish polish food, to other dinners made with love, and now some great new sandwich options. They always have good soups I want to grab to go too. I'm part Polish and was raised on food Polish food. Their pierogis are spot on and delicious...even some unique ones like buffalo chicken or chicken florentine. Last week I stopped with my son and had the more traditional farmers cheese pierogis. They were some of the best I ever had. Even better than what I grew up on. The lazy pierogis and sausage were equally delicious. It's solid, quality homemade food with love, and has a cozy feel.

Handmade pierogis and "deconstructed" pierogis.

I will never eat pierogis again! There's no point...they wouldn't be this amazing! Completely made by hand, the pierogis are hot, crispy, melty goodness. John was so personable and funny, and the food was absolutely wonderful. According to John, "The entertainment usually starts in about 15 minutes."

Great place to stop and eat while enjoying Olcott Beach/ Carousel Park. Staff was very nice and friendly. The food was good. Great selection of unique pierogi flavors. They had polish beers stocked along with the typical American staples. They close between 2pm-4pm to get ready for dinner service.

Short ribs with mashed potatoes - most delicious!!

Hubby and I had dinner here a few weeks ago and the food was fabulous. Service was terrific too. It is owned by the chef and her mate. He takes care of the service and is really kind and attentive. The chef brought out her homemade banana cream pie to show the patrons and everyone wanted a slice! Presentation of the food is wonderful and we wished we could have eaten more. Doggie bags were a must. We can't wait to go back when the weather is nice enough to walk along the lake there. Great place to eat!

John and his wife are both jovial and welcoming people but the pierogis are amazing - just as good as grandma made!

While visiting my parents here in NY I somehow ended up at yalls Polish Festival with my friend…read moreKelly who is very proud of her polish heritage. I honestly wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when she told me that she had ordered us squirt guns and that the girls were supposed to spray they boys and a supposed to get the girls with pussy willows. Sadly, the squirt guns did not arrive from Amazon before we left the house for the event bc no one else had squirt gums when we're got there a little after 5:00pm, I did however see some people with pussy willows. The set and flow to order and pick up food went very smoothly. My friend got a platter and I opted for 6 pirogies and a side of kielbasa and a ticket for water or soda. If they had listed the beer/wine options in the tent where we purchased the food tickets, I may have spent the money on an alcoholic drink. I did like that they had the schedule posted and for the most part they stuck to it. There was a decent amount of people there but it didn't feel too crowded. We got our food and sat at a high top table right on the front porch which allowed for conversation while still people watching. The food was really good, probably the best pirogies I e ever had to be honest! We listened to a few songs from the band but the pirogi eating contest was quite the sight! I do wish that the women running/coordinating the contest didn't use a microphone. I think it would have been a bit more polished if they were able to announce the rules and then learn about each of the participants and then announce, honor and present the prizes to the winners. I had a prime view and captured a number of photos of the pirogi eating contest.

4/5 for brunch at Sto Lat!…read more Service was amazing. Our waitress was very attentive and she helped us with menu options and checked on a few accommodations that we requested which was really great. They had a DJ playing music which was enjoyable but it did make it a bit loud for trying to talk with our party, but overall it was still fun. Food was great! They have a few polish options and some other dishes that are more traditional breakfast options like the breakfast pizza or steak and eggs. The patio is really cute and it was too cold to sit out there today but I would come back and try to done outside. 4/5 overall!

In several instances, food was being brought out for only some people at a time for a few tables. Then by the time mine comes (and I'm starving btw), it's almost completely different than what was described on the menu, and even worse, the waitress didn't realize?! I ordered the Sto lat omelette because I'm Polish and love the flavor combinations of farmers cheese, sour cream and dill. Here's how the menu described it: "smoked kielbasa, bacon, farmers cheese, tomato, caramelized onion, mushroom sauce, sour cream, dill" What I actually got was an omelette with cheddar instead of farmers cheese, and no sour cream or dill. The added home fries and ketchup were a nice surprise though. When I made the waitress aware that this seems to be a different omelette than described on the menu, she said "there's only one omelette on the menu". I pointed out the swapped cheese and missing ingredients, and she asked if I wanted the kitchen to remake it, or just bring me the missing items. I said I'd be fine with being brought the missing items. So they brought me out a dill sauce (?), and sour cream (no farmers cheese). Then charged us full price, no apology. While I enjoyed the different omelette they brought, I was disappointed to miss out on the Polish flavors I was looking forward to. While the atmosphere is cool and maybe a drink at the bar would be fine, I absolutely will never come back for food.

Street parking was reasonably easy to find. We were seated way back in the restaurant and the seating was a little uncomfortable as our table was set up right next to the bar (but way too close to the bar, because our table was long) and other patrons had to constantly shimmy through a small gap between our table and the bar to get to the washrooms downstairs. Not great. We ordered a family style meals to share (combo for 2 and a combo for 4) and the amount of food that came out was probably enough to feed 10 very hungry adults. Definitely do not indulge on the bread basket that comes before the meal, because you will need to save room for the main event. The massive platters came loaded with pierogies, 2 different types of cabbage rolls (my favs!), schnitzels, and various condiments (?) of cooked beets, carrots, cabbages...etc. We were first served 1 different soups; white borscht and beet soup and both were tasty. The meat dumplings in the beet soup balanced out the sweetness of the broth and it worked well. I personally preferred the white borscht which was perfectly sour and a slightly over-powering sausage taste. The refreshing cucumber salad with dill in sour cream was a great accompaniment to somewhat heavy tasting meal. The hunters stew was a hearty bowl of tender morsels of meat, potato dumplings in a well balanced tomato based sauce. Although most of our food was great, we found the cabbage rolls (the traditional tomato version) and the schnitzels too dry. And along with the issue of having to deal with people constantly brushing by, I am taking away 2 stars. I may revisit Cafe Polonez if I'm back in the area, but not in a huge rush either.
