While out for a beautiful afternoon drive along Lake Ontario, we found ourselves in Olcott,NY. I love the quaint small town vibe, with the Airbnb lighthouse. Our first choice,Valentine's was closed, so Mariner's Landing was opened. No reservations needed, and outdoor patio seating is also available. We were greeted by our waitress, Kendall, and welcoming to the formal dining room. The low lightning and warm welcome feeling carried us into the formal dining room. We were quickly seated at our table, and water glasses topped off. Shortly thereafter our waitress took our orders. We began with deep fried Calamari appetizer-cooked golden brown and chewy. We had New England Clam Chowder-creamy and full of clams, followed by our tossed green salads. My boyfriend ordered 1/2 duck dinner with mixed veggies(summer squash,zucchini, with red & yellow bell peppers grilled perfectly. I chose the broiled Seafood Platter, large Haddock filet, with silver dollar sized scallops, and a baked potato topped with butter and sour cream. The meal was so large that I needed a take home container for my shrimp and baked potato. Overall, it was absolutely delightful, our water glasses kept full, and the atmosphere was truly pleasurable, with a window side view of Lake Ontario. We will definitely be back. read more

I was disappointed with our experience at mariners landing. When you walk in the dining area smells bad, I think the smell was coming from the fishtanks that definitely needed to be cleaned. The food wasn't great, we got fish and chips, the fish tasted freezer burned, and the coleslaw wasn't very good. The fries were good. The waitress staff was average. Overall I would not go again or recommend it in the future. read more

Great seafood restaurant with an amazing location next to the lake. I have seen them open recently, so I'm pretty sure they are NOT closed.

I've been wanting to try Mariner's Landing for awhile now. The location is great. It's right by Olcott Beach. They have outdoor seating in the warmer months. The restaurant interior has a very distinctive vibe, occupying a comfortable space between casual and upscale. They still had lights and a lovely Christmas tree up. The walls are lined with ship models and other nautical accents, and there's a couple of fish tanks, one in a wall enclave with netting and shells, but the ambiance never devolves into kitsch. Our server Desiree was excellent. The food ranged from good to great. My husband's ribeye was cooked medium rare as requested but the seasoning was bland. My fried seafood platter was excellent. The batter was light, crispy and golden, and nothing was overcooked or rubbery. I just wish they had a half portion because it's too much food for one person. The children's menu has a large variety of options. The chocolate cake for dessert was amazing and artfully presented. They do have some local wines, all from Schultz. The menu only shows bottle prices, which were not much higher than what you'd pay in retail. at least for local wines, but I was able to order by the glass. The view from the upstairs balcony is really great! I ordered fried zucchini. The zucchini was alright, but it's pretty hard to mess up fried food. According to my companions, the wings were decent as well. The french onion soup tasted like water. There was no salt in it at all. It tasted like nothing. The baked stuffed clams were awful. It tasted like they mixed salsa, breadcrumbs, chopped clams together and called it a day. Just no. They serve orange slices with EVERYTHING. I think the point is to make sure we don't get scurvy, but this is Lake Ontario, not the Atlantic Ocean. Calm down and stop wasting oranges. Actually, maybe the oranges are a smart choice since I'd rather eat a plain orange than that french onion soup again. The service was also kind of slow even though they were not busy. I'd come back to sit on the patio for drinks and oranges, but I'm not bothering with their food again. read more

I LOVE their steamed clams!!!! I grew up on them as a kid. Yes you may have your bad days but you will also have your good days. Clams are hard because one day they might be great and the next might not be. It just depends on that batch, doesn't matter how they cook it, although there have been a few times where they were over steamed but overall I love it. read more

We haven't been to dinner here in a while. It was a Friday and we had a reservation. We were seated promptly but that's was the end of good service! We waited at least 15 minutes to get a drink from the bar. Our dinners were good but our service was terrible. Waitress was more concerned about being outside than waiting on her one table inside. She delivered our food and one drink and that was about it! Needless to say her tip reflected in the the bad service. It's too bad but we won't be going back for a long time! read more

We sat on the upper deck and had dinner - a beautiful evening. Elizabeth was our waitress she did an excellent job. She asked if we wanted to know the specials before she went to get our drinks - very smart - we were then able to order when the drinks came. We were seated, had our drinks, ordered within 10 min. The food was very good with generous portions. Be aware there are 16 steps that not only you have to climb but the wait and bus staff come up and down with serving trays balancing drinks and food. The Draught beer was cold, the clam chowder good, as was the ravioli in red sauce and BBQ chicken. Definitely give them a try. read more

Family of 4, waited an hour for 2 burgers and kids grilled cheese and kids spaghetti. Like any American I like to put ketchup on my burger. The label on the ketchup bottle (pictured) looked like they have been refilling it since the restaurant opened. Based on those things not much else I can say about my experience. read more

My wife and I had dinner here last night. The service was spectacular. And the meals were out of this world. I had to seafood Alfredo which was probably the best that I've had anywhere. My wife had to broiled scallops. All of the seafood items were extremely fresh and very tasty. We sat inside and it was very clean and the ambience was very nice. This is one of my favorite places to dine out on OBNY. Excellent service, a very outstanding chef, and what a view in the spring through fall. Very cozy inside during the winter, too. We have been by this restaurant many times and decided to finally give it a try. Got there right before they opened and we did not have reservations. We were lucky to get a table but had to sit inside as the outside were for reservations only. Got two glasses of water and waited 40 minutes for someone to take our order. Food was mediocre at best though edible. Total two hours spent and most of the time was waiting. One waitress for inside and outside as the second came in 40 minutes late. We had dinner here this past weekend. I ordered the broiled seafood platter and was not impressed. The scallops were so salty. They were not tasty. The shrimp was good but the fish was dried out. We all ordered the French onion soup and there were huge chunks of onion. My fiancé found a huge chunk of onion skin in his soup. I wish I liked it more since we are out that way often but I don't think we will be back. The decor is dated but tasteful. This restaurant has a nice charm to it with a wonderful location. It is located directly behind the children's amusement park, so it makes for a nice stop off after giving the kids some entertainment. When we went, I had the fried perch and my girlfriend had the fried haddock. The fried fish (both of them) came with choice of potato OR spaghetti with red sauce. While a little strange, I thought this was a nice option. The perch also came with a cup of New England clam chowder which was delicious. Entrees came with some delicious fresh baked bread. I would say the chowder was a 4 out of 5. The haddock was also a 4 out of 5. The haddock was not huge, but it was well cooked and seamed to be fresh. The perch was good as well, again, about 4 out of 5. Service was prompt and there was a decent beer selection. I would definitely return to try more items on the menu. read more

My wife and I dined here last Sunday for lunch. The service and food were very good. I ordered the chicken and biscuits, which was excellent. And, the views of the lake from the outside balcony, where we were seated, were just beautiful. My only complaint was the size of the toilet stall in the men's bathroom. It was so tight that it was almost to the point of being unusable, and would be for a larger person. Eat elsewhere, if you think that you may need to use the toilet facilities after your meal. read more

We live quite close to Mariner's Landing & I have to say it's one of our faves! The food is always excellent, great prices too. While we only make it there sporadically we almost always get the same waitress who recognizes us & greets us warmly. The wait is always minimal & there is a nice bar you can wait at. During the warm weather you can dine on the upstairs patio. Unfortunately the service isn't always the best up there but I blame that mostly to the fact that the poor servers have to schlep everything up & down those stairs lol. The view makes it worth it either way. This is a nice non-chain seafood restaurant. The only thing I could say has room for improvement is the desserts. But either way we rarely have room for dessert after a delicious appettizer, soup & dinner. My recommendations- new england clam chowder, coconut shrimp but especially the seafood alfredo!! read more

We have always enjoyed a visit to this restaurant, whether summer, spring, winter, or fall. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and, of course, very nautical. Food has always been excellent, as well as the service. Our favorite is the French onion soup and beef on weck. Soup is delicious and the weck is loaded with lots of tender beef. Stay away. Food was average. Atmosphere was awful. The inside was hot and sticky. We were told there was a 45 minute wait to be seated but there were empty tables everywhere. Well, 25 minutes for one drink to arrive, my girlfriend had to wait 10 minutes more for her drink as they had no vermouth at the bar. This is after having to find the owner to let her know no one had approached out table. Waiters humor, for want of a better term, did not lighten the atmosphere. Amazing we were driving from Niagara to Seneca. Just wanted a nice hot bowl of soup. stumbled on this place. Very local atmosphere family run everything made on site. Menu look good but being vegetarian few choices. However i was told without asking Mushroom Soup is made with mushroom broth cuz that is only way her daughter will eat it. With the first tasting of just the soup it was so rich & full of flavor. nice large slices of mushrooms not over cook. loved it. My boyfriend had clam chowder look very good & hardy. Who knows how the food is???? I don't...... It looked good on people's tables but I wouldn't know because our server was nowhere to be found. We elected to take in the beautiful views on the second floor outdoor patio. 10 minutes go by...... Someone comes by with water for us. I asked them to send the server over as I had my 6 year who has already patiently waited 10 minutes without any restaurant provided crayons or paper. Another 5 minutes go by...... I ask a server that was serving another table if we could order as by this time we've already been waiting 15 minutes without even a drink order taken. The server said sorry they can't take our order but will send our server over ASAP. Another 5 minutes go by........ We left. No one even acknowledged us on the way out. 20 minutes and we couldn't even get a drink order in???????? Here's the kicker the place was empty. The entire restaurant had 7 tables sat. I will never try this place again. Absolutely no reason why in any restaurant you should ever wait 20 minutes and not even be able to get a drink order taken by a server. read more

Let me start by saying the bar is awesome they have cold draft beer and a ton of different spirits. The food is always very good especially the Friday night fish fry at a very good price. Chicken Cordon was excellent. fried fisher mans platter and coconut shrimp were huge portions with great quality. The food was pretty over priced for what you get. I feel like the food is on the same level to what you would get at a hole in the wall bar. The atmosphere was nice to see the lake from the patio, but there were so many black flies flying on our food as well as ourselves. The wait time was long for our entrees (perch, and ravioli) and the customer service was barely present. If I make my way around here, I won't be stopping again. read more

We visited Mariner's Landing on July 3rd, the night of Olcutt's Fireworks. The menu was varied. I chose the ravioli. It was absolutely delicious, at least 10 large pieces with delicious sauce. It came with a wonderful salad, that included slices of peppers ( red & green), cucumber, carrots, pepperochini, small delicious crotons, and onions. I chose house dressing ( sweet Vidalia onion). I also tasted my families choices, breaded shrimp with cocktail sauce ( at least 10) that included a cup of their homemade clam chowder ( made fresh that morning), my daughter's dish, Clams casino done in lightly fried balls that were so tasty! My husband had a cup of chowder with his beef on wreck and added on house salad. Everyone was happy with their choices and with what we considered to be reasonable prices for high quality food with very pleasant and attentive service. The place was packed, and had a lovely outdoor upper patio as well as a small patio down stairs. Restaurant is decorated with a nautical theme and has daily specials. We eat here occasionally but this was our first time this year. The cook was exceptional with nice hot food done right. Give this restaurant right near Lake Ontario and Krull Park a try. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised. We happen to have found out the owner has won awards for her own cooking; no wonder the food was so good! read more
