    Pet Friendly Patio

Polish Platter was very good - great combination of all of the usual Polish staples -- Sausage, Pierogi, Cabbage Roll & Potato Pancake. Everything was very authentic and tasty. Felt like grandmas cooking! Sat on the dog friendly patio and it was a great patio. Lots of picnic bench tables and chairs and many pretty plants. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was prompt. Everything came out quickly and fresh. Great visit!

Nie polecam! $22.04 for this?! 3 tiny scoops of mashed potatoes, little fried egg and a undercooked pork chop. Super rude when I called to report the issue. Was told by the girl who answered the phone " I don't feel like talking to you about this "

Service is fast, the outdoor patio has bench-style seating and wooden tables in a wooded oasis. The food is authentic and tasty.

Upon arrival, not greeted, my friend and I basically walked ourselves to the patio. We spoke polish but shifted to English to be more cordial. While we spoke English, waitress was very rude to us, I asked for a drink menu, with a bad tone I was told they don't have one, i accepted that, I proceeded to ask for a specific type of whiskey, she says... I don't know, let me check... She was out of tune and did not know what was in stock at her bar.... I ended up getting a drink... Whiskey served with a straw... Really?...when this was plain, not even on the rocks... Poor quality serving.... I ordered a shrimp cocktail as I was not very hungry at that point, cocktail sauce was literally frozen, could not even dip the poor shrimp, so I guess I ate plain shrimp... Couldn't even send it back because she never appeared to check on us... 30 mins later she comes back, I was in the mood for something sweet, oh guess what, kitchen closed.... I would have loved for her to come back before the kitchen closed and said "hi guys, the kitchen will be closing in 20, would you like to order something else?" I think that would make sense.... Clearly this place/waitress was careless for her customers... I sure don't recommend this place to anyone... Sorry fellow yelpers... Hard pass

Witaj (polish for Hello) Foodzies, I'm sure by now you have figured out our new cuisine. Yes it is Polish. We went to the Polish bistro at 8303 w Irving park rd, in Chicago. The dining area is small and quaint. The restaurant is deceiving because as you enter just beyond the dining area is the bar area and then further to the back is a large outdoor area. The restaurant was quiet which made it nice for having a conversation. Our server Emilia was very pleasant and helpful, she walked us through the menu, and made some suggestions which we found to be very tasty. We begin with teriyaki wings and a bowl of Flaczki (tripe soup). The wings were nice and crispy, the soup was very umami (earthy flavored) I would have liked a little heat kind of like menuto. Glenda had Kotlet Wersalski, pork chop which was slightly battered and fried but very juicy on top of the pork chop were two different types of cheeses and it's sunny side up egg which helped enhance the flavor. This was served with mashed potatoes, beets which could've use a little seasoning but were a refreshing addition and coleslaw. I went with the Karkowkaz Warzywami which is pork shoulder sautéed with vegetables topped with a mild horseradish sauce. The pork was nice and tender and And the horseradish had just enough spice to make it very flavorful. We also Took home some pierogis Z Miesem (meat) and some Ruskie (potatoe and cheese) the meat pierogis were kind of dry and had an off putting taste. The potato and cheese were good. When we were done eating, we had to track down our server because she went into the bar area and we lost her. She was In there talking to another customer, and when she brought our bill she went back to the bar and ultimately I had to walk into the bar to pay my bill. I give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars. Please give them a try and let me know what you think. Ciao Ciao for now.

Great pierogis. Poor music choice - techno music makes for an inauthentic polish experience, and less than desired music to enjoy food.

The portions were generous, everything arrived hot and fresh, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every recipe. It felt like a true home cooked meal in the best way. Some places lose quality when delivered, but not this one, everything still tasted fresh, authentic, and full of flavor.

It's cold but intriguing. Though I might not order it a second time, I was glad to try it and a single serving is only $5 that they split into 4 shots. The wheel of fun honestly made my night! And the berry compote carafe is definitely worth $15. We had the party platter of varenyky and substituted the red beef ones for more potato ones. But next time I really want more orange pork varenyky! They're sweet and savory and I was reluctant to share the 4 on the plate! We also had barosh (polenta balls) and the potato pancakes (super circular!), which, much like my previous review, were a hit! The mushroom sauce that comes with both is just soooo good. I love mushrooms, know why? Cause I'm a FUN guy. Circular foods, circular drinks, all come full circle. And I will come again, the next special occasion I have. Quite a delight on a Friday night! And surprisingly they were not too busy and the twinkle lights and the Christmas tree outside really made it feel cozy and special.

The Berghoff has more to offer other than its ideal location.  The restaurant is the oldest restaurant in Chicago, but it is maintained really well, clean and beautiful.  When we visited, it was festively decorated for St. Patrick's Day. They serve delicious authentic German fare.  As we were in a hurry, each of us just ordered a drink and an entrée.  Berghoff must have tons of experience serving food for show goers, as the staff were efficient and the food came out quickly. Daughter had a In Cold Blood ($13) and a Reuben Sandwich ($21.95), hand-carved corned beef (or turkey), Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, on house-made rye.  She ordered it without Thousand Island dressing which was included in the menu.  Hubby and I each ordered a Wiener Schnitzel ($27.95 each), pan-fried breaded veal cutlet, creamed spinach, house-made spätzle.  He had a Root Beer ($3.6) and I had an Iced Tea ($3.4).  The Wiener Schnitzel was piping hot, nicely cooked with a crispy light batter and rather tender veal.  It even brought back good memories from our respective trips in Germany and Austria. I enjoyed the house-made spätzle a lot. Daughter liked her Reuben Sandwich too. There is a 3.5% surcharge to every check, as specified in their website. Good thing that it was not a surprise for us. Actually, the service stood out the most this time.  When we were caught in very slow traffic in the expressway on our way to the restaurant, I called The Berghoff and spoke to Brian on the phone, and told him we would be 15 minutes late.  He was very kind, assured we would have our table, and thanked me for telling him.  When we finally arrived 25 minutes late, Brian was still so welcoming, cheerful, and friendly.  As he was leading us into the dining area, he let us choose either a booth or a table.  Fortunately, it was still early for dinner, around 5:30 pm, there were still a few tables available.  When we were eating, the restaurant became packed. Our server, Isaiah, offered flawless service too.  He's also very kind, friendly, and professional.  I informed him that we only had an hour before we needed to leave for the show.  He assured us that he would make sure we leave on time, and he delivered his promise.  Actually, it only took us about 52 minutes from sitting down to finish!  Our dining experience at The Berghoff was delightful and perfect!
