Food excellent. Service good. Ambiance is quiet family style. Highly recommended. Gołąbkis are delicious.

    Delicious paczki.

Delicious! Totally worth it to drive out there this morning to pick up handful of paczki to take home and share. I think they only have one kind of paczki, with a fruit filling, and it was very good. I'll definitely go back.

Great food and staff was friendly. Stopped in for a change of pace. Haven't been to a Polish restaurant in sometime. Nice treat.

I was saving my 700th Yelp review for someplace special. And it doesn't get more special than this. Polish Paczki Cafe is the REAL DEAL for authentic, homemade Polish food. Based on experience with my Polish mother-in-law's traditional cooking, I'm confident there are actual Polish babcias doing the cooking! We stopped for lunch recently and shared the stuffed cabbage rolls garnished with fresh dill, pierogi (potato-cheese and sauerkraut-mushroom) and paczki for dessert. The large cabbage rolls came with a side of really good mashed potato. The pierogi dough was thin and tender, fillings were delish. Everything came out screaming hot and left us stuffed. Better than my mother-in-law's. Yep, I said it. ;). Bonus: they had chilled compote as a drink selection in their cold case which hubby loved. It's a mixture of various dried fruits stewed with mulling type spices. The small, spiffy clean place was pretty busy at an off time (Sat 2pm). We walked in down a little hall lined with at least 15 feet long of tables holding all kinds of yummy, Polish pastries packaged for quick pickups. As soon as the woman behind the counter spied my husband's obvious Polish face, she immediately spoke Polish to greet us and got us settled at a table. Another super nice Polish woman took our orders and chatted a bit. She told us the paczki are fried fresh so she would watch and when we were closer to being done with our entrees, she'd tell the kitchen to make ours so it would be hot. The spectacular dessert came and was devoured. Paczki: think jelly filled donut but not as sweet. Our lovely server put a couple additional, equally spectacular pastry samples on the plate: a babka and szarlotka (apple tart). Mmmm While we ate, there were a few other full tables of happy dinners and a STEADY flow of people popping in to snag boxes of pastries or wait for boxes of fresh paczki to go. There were a few regulars who popped in for carryouts - one Dad with his child who got extra attention and a little squeeze from our server. You want comfort? Come here!

Sour Rye Soup: Not bad, but honestly, I wouldn't order it again... the fermented sourness was just too direct and intense. Polish Hunters Stew: Apparently a national dish of Poland. The first bite tasted like Italian meat sauce, with a rich tomato flavor and a slight smoky aroma; then I discovered the ingredients included sausage, cured beef brisket, minced meat, and sauerkraut, making it quite substantial and much more satisfying than Italian meat sauce. Overall, it was a rich, sweet and sour flavor, perfect with rice, pasta, or bread. Sauerkraut & Mushroom Pierogi: Dumplings, but the Polish version. The sauerkraut was only slightly sour, refreshing and delicious with the mushrooms, while the sour cream added a touch of creaminess and richness. Unfortunately, the skin was thick and sticky, as if it had been boiled for a long time. For better dumplings skin, please turn to a Northeastern Chinese. Half Duck: Strangely, it reminded me of confit de canard. The meat was incredibly tender, falling off the bone with a gentle pull; the melt-in-your-mouth texture was truly delightful. The cranberry sauce was perfectly balanced between sweet and sour, with a rich fruity and fermented aroma. The rosemary emerged in the aftertaste, enriching the flavors and cutting through the richness. The accompanying sauerkraut was even better than the duck, with a crunchy texture and a mild, pleasant sourness, enveloped in a rich buttery and creamy flavor. The accompanying fpotatoes were also soft and delicious, but the roasted pear was too overpowering in its softness and sweetness, not meeting my expectations for a palate cleanser. Table Bread: The bread itself was unremarkable, but the generous amount of butter was commendable. I cannot believe that there is only one server for all the tables.

We went before the dinner rush on a Saturday. There's a small parking lot in the back but that was full so we parked on the street. We were immediately seated and drink orders were taken as well as soup (which is included). Drinks are added separately and not inclusive of the $34 per person. I had the borscht and that was tasty and comforting. My brother in law didn't waste any time and he immediately got his first plate going. My sister and I took our time to enjoy the soup. I then started with the appetizers and tried the different salads. It was cool to see they had aspic since that's not something you see often either. When I eventually made my way to the warm food, I was overwhelmed by all the choices. I tried to take one of everything but even then it was too much so I didn't get to try it all. The meats that I did try were super tender and juicy. They definitely know what they're doing with the meats! The dessert area had so many different options. There was cake, flan and cheesecakes. So many to choose from! I think I just love Polish food in general because of the comfort food aspect. The proteins are usually simmered in gravy and you get to pair it with potatoes cooked in all sort of ways! My sister was adventurous and just started putting random stuff on her plate that I've never seen before. She found the meat spread and that was surprisingly good too. If you're ever in the area, try to go before the dinner rush. It's a great space and is deserving of the title "Largest Polish buffet in Chicagoland".

I had gone to their former location in the now closed Washington Food Hall and enjoyed the cuisine immensely....but a couple weeks ago, I went to their current location in the Ogilvie Train Station within their food court. This time around, I decided to play it safe and try their paczki burger that of course has a Colombian twist. The bun itself was the paczki part but the inside it had an angus patty with melted cheese, sofrito, pickled slaw, and a garlic and tomato Aioli. It also had pickles in it too. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty and satisfying the burger was. It was neither too sweet nor too savory....something that I'd try again in a heartbeat. Check this location out.
