    Hawaiian Style Poke
    Lorean W.

Before we dive-in, I'd like to mention that I DoorDash'd my order and I've never been to the actual location before. I just really had a hankering for a poke bowl and didn't want to leave the house. Pokemoto was one of the selections offered when I queried, and I had a good feeling about it so, I gave it and try and here we are! Y'all, my order was fulfilled and delivered so quickly! And it didn't show up looking hastily assembled at all, which I appreciated for sure. I got the Hawaiian Style Poké bowl and it was perfect! Great fish-to-rice portions and the shredded nori with the crispy onions on top makes for an absolutely delightful texture experience. I do want to warn my fellow spice wimps though--the sriracha mayo was HOT and cleared my sinuses right up, but if you have any heat tolerance, you'll be totally cool. On a lark, I added the lobster seafood salad because it is one of my only culinary weaknesses and I simply cannot resist it. And theirs?! So good! Nice big chunks of lobster in the salad. Definitely a grand bang for your buck. Would definitely order from again! I really want to try both one of their teas, and a milk tea!

Buffet Man Sez: Broke Da Mout!!!! Hands down best poke bowl in town! Not as many protein options as other places but what they have is winnahs And they have choke toppings and sauce options... WOW! And they mix the proteins and sauce first then pour over the base. And they have non-seafood proteins like chicken and tofu. In Terminator terms ... I'LL BE BAAAACK!!!

3 protein Poke Bowl with 3 Proteins

First time at Pokemoto and we built our own bowls omg so delicious and super fresh! The staff was polite and generous. My bowl with 3 proteins was so filling, I couldn't finish it. We were greeted right away when we walked in. The place was clean, had a great atmosphere, and a steady flow of customers. Excellent food and service.. we will definitely be returning here! This is our new favorite poke spot to go to! Thank you!!

    Poke Bowl with 2 Proteins

I had only ever had poke bowl once in my life and it turned me off so much that I never thought about trying it again. Before this place opened, I saw the website and immediately knew from the photos it would be different. I'm writing this review after getting build your own bowl for the SECOND day in a row! This place has the freshest ingredients and is very clean and well kept. The same gentleman helped me both days in a row and was very attentive and personable. Safe to say this will be my new go-to when I don't wanna pay an arm and leg for sushi. Great addition to Modesto!

Everyone is seated with their own individual hot pot plate to build their own individual hot pot. (Don't worry it does not burn). You choose your basic soup broth, choose the meat you would like, and then start grabbing things off the conveyor belts! It not only is a fun concept, you can get quite creative with how you build your hot pot and choose just the things to your liking. I was amazed that they had very authentic Chinese ingredients to choose from - wood ear, enoki mushrooms, bok choy, different kinds of noodles, fish balls, Napa cabbage, octopus, and lots of different varieties of selfish, plus much much more! I chose the traditional broth and they even had Chinese red dates in it plus wolfberries (sometimes known as Goji berries) in the broth just like what I grew up with The service was just ok, since it was our first time there we had to ask a lady to show us what we were supposed to do. She was helpful, but the servers don't come around very often. That said, the plates and dishes clutter up really fast and they don't come around very often to clear the dishes, for which I would have taken a star off. But my experience there with conveyor belt hot pot was so nice that I'm leaving it at five stars. What I liked best besides the authentic ingredients, is that you can become quite creative to build your own hot pot to your own liking.

Waitress is super nice too.

What is the point of the loyalty rewards app if the people ringing you up don't know how to give you the points? No plates or utensils were given for our party tray. The chicken definitely needed the sauces. Without the sauces it's really bland. We had to stop at a store to buy plates, utensils, and sauces which was really annoying. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION- YOU WILL GET SICK! If I could…read moregive this place 0, I would. The reviews definitely don't reflect the actual service and food at this location. Starting off, my best friend and I were in Modesto for Barnes and Noble to get some books for my son. This location being right next to the bookstore was convenient so we went inside. The young girl who served us looked disgusted the moment my best friend said she'd never eaten there and wasn't sure how to order. She looked at her like she was stupid and just said what do you want and was not helpful whatsoever. She got the small poke bowl and I got a small donburi bowl. After what took over 5 minutes for her getting our two bowls from us, she walked away after I paid and I had to ask another worker for a lid to my bowl. Whatever, service sucked, maybe she was having a bad day? We sat down to eat (still hadn't gotten the chicken tempura and gyoza I had ordered for my son). Before my son's food even was ready I had bitten into a very bad piece of shrimp tempura that tasted as if the inside of the batter was covered in mold. I immediately spit it back out into a napkin and just sat there about to throw up. I sat there thinking this is probably just a mistake and maybe I imagined it. Then my son showed me his chicken that he said he didn't want to eat. It was old, rubbery, did not resemble chicken at all, and had black stuff around the chicken under the batter. I went to the worker who was at the counter and told her what we had received. She didn't seem surprised at all, but more surprised I wanted a refund for the two items that were spoiled. No manager onsite, apparently they usually aren't there. She called the manager who did not answer the phone but proceeded to text the worker. Asking exactly what happened several times and then proceeded to say the black on the chicken is seasoning before it's fried, which is not true because the come pre battered and it was just old. I had accepted no refund on the chicken for the ridiculous excuse, but I wanted a refund on the donburi bowl at the very least. The manager asked her to open my napkin and send a pic of the shrimp!!!! THAT IS SO NASTY! That young girl does not get paid enough to be doing all of that. That is revolting! I ended up opening it for her so she didn't have to so she could and a pic. Then the manager stopped responding to her by text. That's fine, Manager, that's fine. You should've just given me a refund for your nasty ass food that was not edible. Now you'll be receiving a visit from the county health department as they were called the moment I left your restaurant because of the food being kept at room temperature, your dirty facility, and the spoiled food you're serving to paying customer. This idiot sent me into my Karen era and I do not even care. Don't mess with people's food. Good luck.

On our way home from a concert in Turlock, I suggested we try the Ono Hawaiian place in south Ceres. We came in; no one greeted us, so we went to the digital ordering system. I input my order: the fire chicken with mac, rice, and mixed veggies. My wife put in a fish dish with her sides. We paid and sat down. Twenty minutes later, we noticed that people who had come in and ordered after us were served and gone (they did not order online, came in and ordered, waited, got their meals, and left), so I went up to the counter, and since no one was paying attention (again), I had to call out to get someone to wait on me. He came over and I told him what we ordered and that we had been waiting. I had also noticed that my wife's was on the bill, but my Fire Chicken had disappeared. I had ordered it first. He seemed confused from the outset, took notes on what I was saying, crossed out my wife's order, and put in another order, this time for just my part (he left out hers completely). Here we are, two people, with two orders placed, sitting, waiting. A few minutes later (now it was 30+ past when we ordered), they called our number. My wife went to get it, and after we unpacked it at our table, we noticed that hers was indeed missing. I went over to the counter and again, since no one was attending, got a young lady's attention and tried to explain the deficiency, to which she responded, "I didn't wait on you." I said, but you people forgot my wife's order, to which she replied, "I didn't wait on you." This reflects badly on her manager, for clearly he didn't train her and on her lack of understanding that she works with a team. Yelp prompts me to comment on the "ambiance," which I would say is "detached" and "unaware." We asked for a bag, took what was left of the order, went to Panda on the other side of the parking lot, got a fine meal for my wife, and told ourselves we would never come back to Ono Hawaiian Ceres again. There are so many better options nearby; skip Ono Hawaiian (maybe it's so called because when they screw up, you say, "Oh no"). For us, if a friend mentions this place, we will say, "Oh no," and tell them our story.
