Great place, we really needed something like this in Patterson! If they could bring in some yellow tail, it would be even greater!

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION- YOU WILL GET SICK! If I could…read moregive this place 0, I would. The reviews definitely don't reflect the actual service and food at this location. Starting off, my best friend and I were in Modesto for Barnes and Noble to get some books for my son. This location being right next to the bookstore was convenient so we went inside. The young girl who served us looked disgusted the moment my best friend said she'd never eaten there and wasn't sure how to order. She looked at her like she was stupid and just said what do you want and was not helpful whatsoever. She got the small poke bowl and I got a small donburi bowl. After what took over 5 minutes for her getting our two bowls from us, she walked away after I paid and I had to ask another worker for a lid to my bowl. Whatever, service sucked, maybe she was having a bad day? We sat down to eat (still hadn't gotten the chicken tempura and gyoza I had ordered for my son). Before my son's food even was ready I had bitten into a very bad piece of shrimp tempura that tasted as if the inside of the batter was covered in mold. I immediately spit it back out into a napkin and just sat there about to throw up. I sat there thinking this is probably just a mistake and maybe I imagined it. Then my son showed me his chicken that he said he didn't want to eat. It was old, rubbery, did not resemble chicken at all, and had black stuff around the chicken under the batter. I went to the worker who was at the counter and told her what we had received. She didn't seem surprised at all, but more surprised I wanted a refund for the two items that were spoiled. No manager onsite, apparently they usually aren't there. She called the manager who did not answer the phone but proceeded to text the worker. Asking exactly what happened several times and then proceeded to say the black on the chicken is seasoning before it's fried, which is not true because the come pre battered and it was just old. I had accepted no refund on the chicken for the ridiculous excuse, but I wanted a refund on the donburi bowl at the very least. The manager asked her to open my napkin and send a pic of the shrimp!!!! THAT IS SO NASTY! That young girl does not get paid enough to be doing all of that. That is revolting! I ended up opening it for her so she didn't have to so she could and a pic. Then the manager stopped responding to her by text. That's fine, Manager, that's fine. You should've just given me a refund for your nasty ass food that was not edible. Now you'll be receiving a visit from the county health department as they were called the moment I left your restaurant because of the food being kept at room temperature, your dirty facility, and the spoiled food you're serving to paying customer. This idiot sent me into my Karen era and I do not even care. Don't mess with people's food. Good luck.

Huge portions! Poke…read moreBowl Pelandale has quickly become one of my go-to spots in Modesto. They offer a large variety of proteins and toppings in their poke bowls as well as hot appetizers like gyoza, rangoons, egg rolls, and tempura. I typically order a Large Bowl with five toppings to split with my mom. We get the creamy shrimp, spicy scallops, octopus, and double salmon. The bowls are absolutely huge. I'd say the bowls are about three inches deep, and it's not just rice filling them! They are very generous with their toppings and don't shy away from loading them up with the seaweed salad and imitation crab too. They offer a bunch of sauces and mayo dressings that add a bunch of flavor. I also really enjoy their Kani Salad! It is a large portion that packs a lot of flavor. I always order ahead and the mean is finished before I arrive! I would say though that they are not the most consistent. Sometimes the octopus pieces are super hard and it grosses me out. One time they put ahi tuna in my bowl instead of the salmon. A few times they didn't include the sauce topping on my bowls. The interior of the restaurant is not the cleanest. There were some areas, especially around the drink fountain that look like the haven't been deep cleaned for a while. Regardless, none of these are major issues that would turn me away from eating there again.

Unfortunately on two different orders, I've found a piece of hair in my food. The last order has done it for me and this establishment. I understand that mistakes can happen, but this is a food safety concern that shouldn't be overlooked. Cleanliness and proper food handling are extremely important when serving customers. I hope management takes this seriously and reinforces hygiene standards with staff to prevent this from happening again.

The interior has a nice, relaxed vibe with comfortable seating and a clean, inviting atmosphere. We started with the calamari and edamame. The calamari was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. The edamame was lightly salted and had a wonderful flavor that made it easy to snack on while we waited for our main courses. I had the Korean stone bowl and was very impressed. The beef was tender, flavorful, and slightly sweet, and everything was served piping hot in a beautifully presented bowl. My husband had the salmon bowl and thought it was cooked perfectly with a nice balance of flavors. Another friend tried the coconut shrimp curry and said it was delicious, with a rich and slightly sweet coconut sauce that paired well with the shrimp. Overall, we were very happy with the food and the experience. The restaurant felt clean and well-maintained, and the staff made sure our meal went smoothly. I would definitely come back if I am in the area.

The holiday drinks were just posted on social media two days prior and they were already unable to make one of the drinks. I've had the peppermint martini a few years ago, so went back to that. It was good, but I remember it being a little better before. Also, the presentation of drinks seems to change based on who is making them. Sometimes it's rimmed with peppermint, mine was on the side of the glass. Same issue as last time. The peppermint was too heavy and sliding down the glass, making the stem sticky when picked up. We shared several different sushi rolls. The rice seemed way over done. It was one mushy texture and the spicy tuna lacked spice. I ordered the salmon for my entree. Salmon was well cooked with a glaze and served with broccoli. First bite of broccoli tasted burnt, but luckily the rest was fine. We ordered all the desserts to sample and the best was the flourless chocolate cake and the cheesecake with the bananas. Our server was super sweet and always made sure we had what we needed.

Amazing place to stop by for poke - few tables for dine in but looks like a good place for takeout…read more So many toppings and side options and you can load it all up. I'm not sure why a few reviews commented on poor quality fish- at least for my experience, the fish were all fresh and delicious. Even the tuna didn't have the "fishy" taste and all were amazing. Free avocado too! Staff were superrrr friendly and attentive. Free yakult as well. This was an awesome find and I'm definitely coming back after roads trips in the future!

The interior is small with a couple of tables available to sit from. The menu was pretty easy to read and they had a variety of items to choose from! Medium Poke Bowl(5/10): For my base I got half kelp noodles and cucumbers. For my protein I got salmon, marinated tuna, and volcano tuna--mixed with spicy mayo and spicy poke house sauce. For toppings I had spicy tuna, spicy crab mayo, corn, green onions, masago, mango, kimchi, black tobiko, and pickled radish. I thought the choices I made were lackluster. I felt like there was a lot of kelp noodles, and it didn't add flavor. I didn't like the marinated tuna cause I felt like it was more on the sweeter side. The volcano tuna was super spicy, but the flavor profile was there. I think if I were to choose my protein again, it wouldn't be those options. Service(10/10): The worker was super nice and friendly. They were pretty fast and it looked like it was just one person working at the store. No complaints here. Overall, I don't think I'll be coming here again, but it was still worth a try!
